Yeah could be that! I'm surprised they didn't include the "CR" stickers for his sides too. Well, still a very cool touch! They so often leave the sticker reveals until the last minute Wait I just realised the sticker placement is in the instructions! So numbers 17 and 18 are for the back of the car, and numbers 19 and 20 are to cover up half off the black on the rear wheel well, as you said! And MP-39 is mentioned in the instructions too, for stickers 15-18.
I think it actually says "15-20", for Sunstreaker. Which would make more sense....why would you use red stickers to cover up a section of red on Spinout?
So that you can cover up half of the rear wheel well, because that red metallic sticker goes all the way down to the tyre? pic from Square One: Hasbro G1 Sunstreaker - Figure & Sticker History courtesy of Maz
Right, 19 and 20 would cover up the black fender. But 17 and 18 go above that, right on the red section. These would make no sense in Spinout....they don't appear to be metallic, so you'd just be covering up red paint with the same color red stickers. However, using 17-20 all on Sunstreaker would give you the entire red section from the G1 toy. Edit: I'm pretty sure we're saying the same thing, haha. If you want to use them for Spinout, you'd only need to use 19 and 20, but if you wanted to use them for Sunstreaker, you'd also need to use 17 and 18.
Hah yeah we are saying the same thing but I do think they're metallic or at least a slightly different shade of red, based on the toy show photos we had Just looking at Maz's interesting article and it's a shame Cordon didn't come with his own stickers, as the ones for the Police Countach were actually different.
I guess TT decided there wasn't enough potential sales for a yellow Diaclone Sunstreaker and also a red one so they gave you the ability to make a toy accurate yellow Sunstreaker in bot mode and mostly toy accurate in car mode using parts and stickers from this release. I can see people that wanted a Diaclone yellow Sunstreaker not being happy with having to buy two figures to get that yellow version. But I guess the alternative would be no toy yellow Sunstreaker at all. So at least this exists as an option. Personally I was hoping for a yellow Diaclone release but I'll just have to make do with the red version. I'm now wondering what this means for a potential toy repaint of Prime V3...... stickers instead of tampos? Maybe they will sell the blue cab version with stickers to modify MP-44 into a toy version? I hope not..... I was hoping for a proper MP-44+ to go with my MP-36+.
Yeah, def possible. Either way, I certainly won't be using them on either figure regardless, haha. I think I will be using the red shoulders, inner calf, and maybe stomach stickers for Spinout. I think it's a shame the ones for the spoiler and engine are printed on white backed stickers instead of chrome or clear.
Oh I'm pretty sure those are transparent stickers for the engine and spoiler. It looks like they're printed on white, but well they had to choose some colour for the backing card
Haha, that's true...I suppose it's possible the Autobot symbols have a white border printed around them. It's too hard to tell yet.
Choices are good. But stickers are still bad. (Debating whether to put that in blue, but I really DO hate stickers)
Getting a CAR ROBO sticker is really slick. I didn't think I could be more excited for Spin-Out from such a small thing, but I am lol. (as always, a tampo is better, but I can get making the more overt Diaclone stuff a sticker)
Loving these new photos! I had briefly considered cancelling my Spinout preorder, but I think I’ll keep it (unless I need the money). That mold looks so good in red! The stickers are a cool surprise, though I don’t think I’ll be using them. I’ve never put stickers on any of my MPs, it just feels wrong.
Yeah I think it's just hard to see but I imagine there's a separate white outline around the insignia. Even Ratchet's shoulders?
Yup, even Ratchet’s shoulders. I’ve contemplated putting those on but ultimately didn’t. The sticker material is too thick for my liking, I think if I ever put anything on his shoulders it will be proper Red Cross water slide decals.
This might be my second MP that I'll put stickers on. I bought the toyhax ones to make my TRU Prowl look like the toy because I got the plus version of him, and this one looks like it would be awesome stickered up to be a toy... Although I did buy him to have a clean red Lamborghini in my collection. Hmm, decisions...
While I can understand why some dislike stickers, for me having a label sheet is always fun. I'm always reminded of the fun I had as a kud with G1 figures snd applying labels sheets. It's something that's indicative of G1 Transformers that I've always liked.
I certainly don't intend to disparage anyone for enjoying stickers. This is almost at the level of running-joke with me (even if I'm the only person who laughs at it). Stickers, to me, mean something I feel obligated to apply, lest the figure be incomplete, but the fact is, I'm not very good at applying them (especially as my near-vision eyesight gets worse as I enter my late-40s). And I wasn't especially good at applying them as a kid, either, so the nostalgia goggles don't really work for me, either.
Yeah I love it as well. It’s another one of those things I didn’t get into but now have a chance to get a recreation of it. I did it with my Ratchet, G2 Sideswipe, and probably will with this guy.
As a mid 40s guy with nearsightedness as well, I find it so much easier to put stickers on if I remove my glasses. But yeah, I so understand your issue with them. To be honest, I have yet to put the G1 Reissue Soundwave stickers on mine since I am still debating on putting them as indicated or as they should have been. So I'm right there with you on the not enjoying the stickers.
