    I tell you what.

bbts was (still is?) always around at least $50 over the import-shops back then before shipping-fees, regardless if it's TF or not. Amz-jp wasn't even allowing us to import back in the day.

That said, I think you're a bit using the incorrect pricing comparison.

Most didn't pay msrp when importing MP-11 during the po-days, and even during release-days.

Also consider that even MP-52's po-pricing from amz-jp is indeed quite a price hike considering lots of us here got the Hasbro-edition of the MP-11 mould via TRU for $60 not so long ago...

Also consider that MP-11 and MP-52 are very different figures and that “not so long ago” was 5 years ago, and a lot has changed in those 5 years. ;)

Actually the release he was referring to was only 5 years ago. HOWEVER, a more apt comparison would be if Hasbro decides to release MP-52 as a target exclusive 3 years from now for somewhere in the neighborhood of $119.99, but with none of the accessories aside from the stand and null rays.

You can’t compare the initial release of a figure, with all accessories included to a reissue three years after the fact, stripped of the majority of accessories and with a revamped, inaccurate color scheme to boot.

Edit: @Xaxis am I THAT sleep deprived or did your post originally say 8 years? Lol

Edit 2: just saw your post lol

I realized that after posting and made an edit just as you were quoting me. :D

On top of all this, we also need to consider that the MP-11 mold was a retool of a mold that’s now 14 years old! :)

That’s the most important thing. Comparing Star Cream to the original Greenscream. If the price comparisons are going to make any type of sense, then the original has to be compared to the most recent in the same channels they were/are being offered in.

    Some nitpicks:

    - I think the head looks slightly too big proportionally ( same issue I have with Earthrise Scorponok )
    - The red 'diaper' also looks a bit too bulky
    - The upper legs could use quite a bit more bulk

I’m afraid I won’t be of much help with that one as I was only 8 and have absolutely NO CLUE what the going rate was for MP figures from the usual suspects at the time :p

If you want the local price however (and assuming 9,800 yen is accurate) then it would’ve been around $107 USD compared to $265 USD. I do have to point out though that it’s MP-03 compared to MP-52 I mean come on lol, greenscream was interesting but he was still freaking no-paint, won’t hold together, stupidly inaccurate, inevitably going to break, greenscream.

Also worth noting that if we’re gonna make that comparison, the equivalent of a modern day deluxe (what we called a scout class back then) was $7.72 compared to $22.99. A 197% price increase compared to a 148% price increase from MP-03 to MP-52.

That’s what I mean. Toy technology and budgets. There was a fight for Sideswipe’s rocket launcher. Four extra parts and a pin. Now look where we are. Getting aCosmic Rust chunk? This Star Cream is a blessing. People need to be complaining about the price of their cable bill instead.

    SHHHHHH!...they...might...be listening!

I realized this not long afterwards, as the old seekers used to be the high water mark for MP prices when I started collecting. And even less if you get him imported. So the price isn't an issue at all, comparable to MP11. But I picked up Walmart MP11 at TRU for 100$ CDN, so it's relative.

I still don't think any MP should cost mire than 250 USD but that's just one man's opinion. My budget is irrelevant.

For me, QC is always the biggest issue. I'm hoping they get this right for Starscream, because that goofy non-locking waist of MP11 was one of the biggest problems I had with him...subsequently fixed in later releases, but a sting for a 200 figure.

Butterscotch was the old people candy that wasn't your favorite but you could make work. Now toffee on the other hand.....
Didn't care much for the caramel chews either.
