It's odd that for how online everything has become these days we're not seeing HasTak transition to putting extended bios on their website somewhere. Even if, in the case of stuff like WfC, it's just the original tech spec reprinted in full.

Because they give us new characters from time to time...but we don't really know much about guys like Ironworks or Airwave. And unless they have a presence in media somewhere, the Fossiliziers will be the first batch of new characters with no real info as to who they are or what they're about individually.

This actually costs money (to host a website etc) and it does bite them in the budget department

    Like I said, "somewhere."

If that's on something like the Pulse listing, or the Hasbro product page, sure. Or if they have something like the Siege Map that was up during WfC:1 and the bios are there for a year before they're taken down and replaced by the next chapter.

It doesn't have to be permanent. Just up long enough to coincide with the current line, and then they know the fan pages (TFWiki for example) will take care of it from there.

Right, but as others have said, putting it on the listing on HP or something would take care of it.

To be fair, they've got a site like that for G.I. Joe and that was a dead brand. You'd think something like Transformers would warrant a site like that (granted I prefer as much budget as possible goes into the actual figures)

At some point I think they need to understand that bringing every toy to life as a character, with a unique personality, story and place in the world is worth a little expenditure.

It is a HUGE reason why TFs were a success and beat their competitors in the 80s and a huge reason why these characters and franchise are still so popular 35 years later. I think bios/story from a paragraph to an extended page are worth loosing all the blast effects ever packed in.

-ZacWilliam, I'd certainly rather Slash, Smashdown or Doublecrosser were actual characters with personalities, powers and backstories than that I have two more little rubber explosions that melt plastic and paint.

These are so Meh. Its Hasbro colored decos with Japanese heads. Maybe Id be feeling them more if I didnt have the both the original Takara and Hasbro decos. I dont need more boxes in my closet so easy pass. Im disappointed that Walmart appears to be discontinuing the actual G1 reissues for this. They could have at least given us a reisdue of the Autobot cassettes to go with Blaster.

I love the "G1" style art. it's a little neater but it still has that airbrushed weird perspective charm.

    They do.

That's why the three pillars are a media line (toys who's bio and characterization are available via watching the latest series), Studio Series (toys who's bio and characterization are available via classic movies that are readily available) and Generations (toys based on classic characters who's bio and characterization are available via classic media)

It's a testament to both the G1 artwork and the G1 box designs that these still look fresh today. It's always a remarkable, rare thing when a designer turns in something iconic, which is obviously never the idea at the time.
