At the time? Yes. Now? No. Got caught up in the allure of more robot screentime, more Transformers movies, more...brain rot. It took me a long time to realize how bad these movies are. I even defended them, for the longest time, bleh.

I use to say these movies were better than the MCU films, mainly Avengers, how wrong i was. I can't really go back and say these were good, because..well for obvious reasons, now that bumblebee exist, we can finally get another TF Film

Y'know? There was a time I agreed with that. I liked Iron Man (the first one), but didn't like The Incredible Hulk (still don't, find it incredibly weak and Ruffalo is such a better Banner than Douchey McDoucherson/Edward Norton.), and by the time we got to The Avengers, I just really wasn't feeling it. I sat there for 2.5 hours and was like "This is it? Really? People complain about Transformers, but this is okay? It's one giant battle scene!". I now have collected all of the MCU (thus far) and find those earlier films leaps and bounds better than Bayverse. There's quality, not quantity in them. Though, I will be fair to the Bayverse flicks... their battle scenes, while protracted and obnoxiously loud and relentless, are rather impressive and if the MCU can get a pass with 'em a Transformers movie should too. That's one area where I will be fair to the films and their fans. That, and special effects Oscars... The Transformers themselves are amazing works of art (regardless of whether or not one likes the design) and the work involved is incredibly time-consuming and deserves recognition.

Yeah, when it comes to the Transformers, nobody can really fault the effects and mostly the times when the robots are on screen.

Of course, it's the entire rest of the movie out of any of the five bayverse films that draw ire for the less-than-stellar writing that's supposed to string together the scenes. While I do think some lines are taken a little more literally than others (I.E. the 'hack into a bridge' line seems to catch a lot of flak even though it isn't an unreasonable assumption they're talking about the system controlling the bridge since Chicago obviously doesn't have those things operated manually), a lot of the content is questionable in the end and the films really could do for a batch of tighter editing all around.

I liked some moments in Revenge of the Fallen (Like the Shanghai Battle and the Forest Battle) and Characters like (Ironhide, Sideswipe even Jolt though they didn't get enough Screentime like the Other Characters) but the rest of Revenge of the Fallen was all just Crappy too many Toilet Jokes and and Potty Humor heck if i was in Charge of the Transformers Film Series i would make some changes like a Different Cast of Robots and no Potty/Toilet Jokes/Humor and Stronger Storylines.

Gosh, yes! Every so often, I'll be fiddling with my Bayverse figures and find myself awed at how huge an evolutionary leap TF toys made in the short time span between the first two films. Simply astounding!

i like it because it had the most solid continuity between films(2007) of any of the series.

plus it gave us so many cool things
    jolt
castaway jetfire(which is my fav take on him now)
    decepticon protoforms
    satallite soundwave
the most badass megatron looks and feels in the whole series
    the forest battle
    operation firestorm

Jetfire is such a fun character and he homages the original surprisingly well, not only is he a turncoat but he "woke from the ice" so to speak after being disabled on an important mission a long time ago, and he's got a powerful flying alt mode. Even separated from the character, a Transformer being trapped in a museum display is such a kickass idea.

To me ROTF is okay except for the humor and Skids and Mudflap and Devastator being killed by humans.

I have a negative outlook on the movie itself but the ROTF Constructicon designs are easily the most unique designs the Bayverse has brought out.

ROTF is a mess of a movie, but I really find quite a lot to appreciate in it. The toyline of course is well-deservedly remembered fondly, and it's funny because that was the first time Transformers saw a price increase in many years, but it actually came with an increase in figure complexity and detail (and in the case of the leader figures, height).

In terms of the movie itself, I appreciate that for all of its flaws and messiness, ROTF is genuinely trying to be different. In this day and age when all sequels are same-y / copying the first, ROTF was really trying for unique elements from the first. The story is more adventure driven, and it takes us around the globe and has action setpieces set in entirely different locations to the first film, so we get to see the robots in new environments. It takes a more mythical approach to the Transformers lore, which I don't think panned out all that well, but it was an honest attempt.

And most of all, it goes absolutely batsh*t insane with the robot designs. There is so much creativity packed in here and I get that it wasn't for everybody, but I think the filmmakers should be applauded for absolutely running the gamut in terms of what Transformers could be and look like. SR-71 is an awesome choice for an alt mode, and what does it turn into? This crazy old man coot of a robot that uses the landing gear as a cane! The Constructicons are all wonderfully unique. Jackhammer robot with tread whip arms? General Grievous-like four armed monstrosity (off-screen, but ok)? Gigantic wheelbot? Even the Autobots get some cool designs, with the unique take on Arcee (that was sadly largely cut from the film), the gorgeous looking Sideswipe, and even pretty decent designs (sans the heads) for the Twins. And don't forget Satellite Soundwave and Ravage! Megatron also gets a great update with a design that better combines his live action look from movie 1 and his G1 look.

So that's my TED Talk, ROTF has a crappy villain, a messy plot, and an inconsistent script and tone with too much potty humor, but there's a lot of inspiration here that I'm glad people are appreciating more, especially via the excellent new figures in Studio Series.

Was my first transformers cinema experience and i love it.
I love how they depicted Soundwave. Probably my favourite version of the character.
I found wheelie funny and actually enjoyed mudflap and skids. I admit it dragged a little where sam is at college and during the military bits, but for robot cast and robot scenes i think its the best of bayverse.

I liked Wheelie much more in DotM. He went from one of my least favorites in RotF to a character I really liked in DotM.

I think RotF would have worked better if it was integrated directly into the following DotM.

    Meaning:
    In RotF
-Megatron is revived, but left damaged and broken as punishment
-Starscream is now the defacto top subordinate to The Fallen and primary antagonist
-Optimus is still dead at the end
    -The Fallen remains alive
-No Mudflap, but Skids is present as a curmudgeon type akin to Kup

    In DotM
    -The same time has passed
-Megatron is growing inpatient with his new station
-The quest to find the Matrix happens in DotM
-It is found and Optimus is revived and finds Sentinel
-Shockwave now first subordinate to The Fallen
-Sentinel being double agent revealed and the Fallen's forces on the Moon
    -Chicago still invaded
-Optimus and Megatron team up to have a back to back last stand against The Fallen, Sentinel, Shockwave and Starsceam

I loved it when it first came out and I still do.
I dunno, I guess I was the “right” age (21) when it came out because everything just worked for me. I love the character designs, I love the action, I love the humor. The story works for me (nothing was difficult for me to understand lol).
But I also love the original cartoon and I loved the slight nods to it. And let’s be real, the cartoon is pretty batshit ridiculous and Revenge of the Fallen is batshit ridiculous. But they’re both fun.

ROTF as a movie may be terrible, but the shear ungodly hype that surrounded it and all the new, weird things it brought to Transformers is impossible to match.

Jetfire is the best thing the movies have given us, period, and I'm crushed we haven't seen this version utilized elsewhere.

It has the best action, best sound design, best soundtrack, and most unique designs of the bayverse so I definitely like it and its probably #2 for me behind 07. Plus I actually get a chuckle out of the twins and wheelie which I know is heresy but hey, I like what I like.
