Pretty confident that SS Jazz isn't licensed. Both in the description as well as the live stream they purposefully call it "race car mode". If it were licensed it would've been called out for sure!
The careful wording is no coincidence.

I think you're right. I have to say, this breaks me. I was really sure he'd be licensed. To me it was the entire reason for putting him in Studio Series to begin with. Now I have to wonder why they didn't put him in Earthrise and put Arcee in Studio Series.

I know this isn't the thread for a mini-rant about Hasbro and Studio Series, but I feel like they've broken the whole conceit of the line now. The door is now open to fudge details and avoid licensing on any vehicles they choose, like Sideways (Audi always refused them.) And it lessens the impact and prestige of the line.

It's funny because all I really want from this Jazz is to blend seamlessly with the other WFC Autobot cars, which he does, so I'm happy to get him and indeed have already preordered him. But at the same time I'm terribly disappointed that he isn't everything I expected him to be, namely a licensed Porsche.

I agree with everything you said but if the issue really is that Porsche won’t allow them to use the license (or it’s just too expensive for a SS figure) I think Jazz turned out well and looks close enough to a Porsche for me. Makes me wonder if Porsche gave the ok to use the likeness of the car even without full licensing because it’s the toon version that isn’t bang on. Who knows?

I’m also wondering if Dino will be similar to this Jazz, look very much like a Ferrari but not actually be licensed.

Does anybody have that blurry/artistic-filtered profile/upper-torso image of supposed MP Jazz that circulated a few years ago? The new SS version looks a lot like what I remember of that one.

With the budget now, would a new Grimlock come with Wheelie, like Kobayahsi originally wanted?. I thought that was a pretty cool easter egg for the SS version. Wheelies the only 86 bot not appearing in Kingdom or SS86,coincidence? Maybe him and an exosuit Daniel that can be removed from the suit with the other usual accessories. I wouldn't have a problem but I could only imagine the outrcy of Muh(insert name here) if they went with Wheelie. I wonder how popular he is in Japan. The LG version sold well but it also had the Shota Headmaster.

Nah, MP Wheelie should come with a Grimlock accessory.

Doubt it man.. That would be crazy expensive as Grimlock needs to be taller than MP44 as it is.
I think he will come with the sword, gun, fire effects and maybe crown. Would be nice if they did include Wheelie or Exo Daniel!
The Diaclone driver seat as an easter egg would also be dope

I think Wheelie and Daniel could come together like the OG Bumblebee did, would be a lovely release to coincide with Arcee & Raiden as they all interacted in Headmasters.

Oh man, I would skip that 2-pack so hard ;)

I’d guess we’d probably see Grimlock come with the obvious sword, double-barrelled cannon and crown, and a bunch of other episode-specific things. The helmet he wore when he made the Technobots, probably a flamethrower effect, that kind of thing.

He’d be bigger than MP-44, but I’d bet a bit cheaper. The trailer really added to the price tag on that piece. My guess is that he’d end up at a mass-market price like the black Prime they did.

hahah! I’d buy the hell out of it, but for real in the west it would probably flop as hard as Roadrage did if the price wasn’t super fair.

yeh true..potentially they could do a Starscream curve ball with the price. A G1 toy deco and Comic repaint are so necessary and could offset the costs.
That Grimlocks brain episode is one of my faves, so the helmet would be a vibe.

I personally hope to see Soundwave & Roddy v2 before Grimmy tho & Galvatron before all of them.

I wonder if they will reissue a painted version of Starsaber in the long gap next year.. pretty sure that’s another character to put next to Raiden on the box art. Not sure though

It probably depends on if they’re doing any conscious Autobot/Decepticon pattern. I don’t think either Grimmy or Soundwave need a license, so either slots in nicely as a larger release for a year, especially if they need repaints and/or they’ve blown their licensing budget on other characters perhaps?

Also, I guess if the Studio Series works out well, that may be where we see a lot of ‘86 focus since its never blown up in the MP line. I’m curious to see if it changes a lot as they wind down the Bay years. It could be a great way to do higher-end pieces that meet Hasbro’s price point needs without risking as much in MP.

I don't think that would happen. They seem to not like to repeat themselves with accessories. MP-52's accessories are entirely different from MP-11's, for example.

Is this real from Takara themselves or...?

Also, I'm wondering if anyone could clear up whether or not Takara has acquired the Porsche license yet as of now? I'm aware that the recent SS86 jazz isn't officially licensed, but I'm curious if we could be seeing an MP Jazz in the very near future...?

No, it’s a fake from a few years back.

And we don’t know. Heck, we don’t even know for sure if SS86 Jazz is licensed or not.

We don't know. Some claim that the license has been acquired some time ago (no proof), some expected or hoped SS Jazz would be licensed (and thus the MP would follow) but that's still unclear (but seems a bit unlikely), and some think Porsche will not grant the license for different reasons (either because of price, demands by Porsche or Porsche's contribution to the Nazi's and continuing German guilt over WW2).

The truth is, we don't know. Nobody knows save TT, and they won't come out and say either way (because it could hurt negotiations). The only way we will likely know is if a Transformers is revealed that's a licensed Porsche, but untill this happens nobody knows. This is why it's such a shame that due to pandemic the SS Jazz reveal wasn't at a convention. Because then fans would've asked if it was licensed and in either case we would've had an answer for the MP: yes, thus MP; no, and possibly hints about difficulty. (IIRC a former Hasbro employee did say it would never happen.)

Grimlock could costs less of than you think, if they pull out the electronic.

But MP44's accessories cannibalize the MP10 accessories.
And Grimlock is a pre-reboot masterpiece, when the line had not yet a precise direction. The blackboard of accessories is totally blank, to me.

I personally think the fact that SS Jazz is an approximation of a Porsche rather than an accurate representation of the car is a pretty bad sign.

I'm very certain it isn't licensed, as otherwise it would've definitely been called out in the item description. Something like "transforms into his iconic Porsche mode" rather than "transforms into race car mode".

Still not gonna give up hope for a licensed MP down the road though!
