We’re getting Hot in the Spot with this one.

Hot Spot is the immensely strong and charismatic leader of the Protectobots. This bright blue ball of fire believes in giving everything he has in service to his teammates and his fellow Autobots. Maximum effort is his mantra.

Hot Spot is a nice chonk of a bot from the G1 era. With his massive arms and bulky torso, it’s not hard to imagine the strength of his character.

Surprisingly versatile for such a simple design too. Hot Spot can mount his weapons in multiple ways and in his alt mode, the lengths his ladder extends to could put Inferno to shame.

Hot Spot transforms into a very nice Mitsubishi FUSO fire engine. He’s got some nice molded details too like the hoses on the side and his siren lights (which would’ve been nice if they were painted, but what else is new). I really like the stickers overall on this figure too, but my favorites are the flame stickers on the cab doors.

I was lucky enough to get the original box for this figure when I got my Protectobots set. A wave of nostalgia just comes over me when I see these anymore, which is a pleasant rarity.

Hot Spot is the epitome of G1 blockiness. But he’s also a really nice example of with the right design, colors, molding, and stickers these G1 toys can hold some nice surprises both practically and aesthetically. Hot Spot is definitely one of my favorite G1 Combiner Team Leaders.

...and did you buy them? Any of them?
That was a fun one, I was at the premiere (remember me?). I’d love to see more videos of these e-hobby reissue-thingies.

The prices where high for loose figures in okay condition and some wrong accessories, than what I had seen on Ebay and here. The person who put them up in the case clearly only had a rudimentary understanding of them.

Yea, I don't know which picture I like better. The wall of beautiful sealed boxes, or the shinny chrome chest plate on Bruticus.

I started in 1997 and ebay was just starting but I remember how expensive misb g1 case fresh items went for even back then! The collecting community was in its infancy so competition was light. Star Wars dominated the toy collecting genre. But deals were abound! I remember picking up sealed bumblejumper for about $150, sealed pre rub brawn for $60, there were case finds of pre rub cassettes from several notable (mail order) dealers and they were selling for $50-$60/a pop! the spanish gold box stuff flooded ebay and went for a pittance. I cant believe how much they go for now! You couldve pick up many sealed jets /cars for about the price of one misb afa 85 item today. Toy shows were also great back then for finding good deals. Some people reported finding sealed g1 collecting dust in hardware stores well into the 90's.

Definitely one of the more cohesive Combiner teams from the G1 era, forming Defensor makes for one of the most stable and strongest Combiners in all of Transformers.

Defensor looks so amazing. He’s incredibly well-proportioned compared to other Combiners. The positioning of each limb bot compared to the bulk of Hot Spot neatly contorted into the torso makes for a hefty looking robot. And with their unifying red, white, and baby blue color schemes, Defensor is so very aesthetically appealing. These opinions added to everything I’ve talked about with each member of the team make the Protectobots, both individually and as Defensor, my favorite of the G1 Combiner teams.

As someone lucky enough to have the oversized Korean Bruticus, I wish Defensor and Menasor had been similarly upscaled.

G1ish figures of some Headmasters cast members...

The extra stickers, let alone the "rub on" stickers are a dead giveaway.
