I will admit, as exicited as I am to see Jazz in his correct form for the 1st time since the Pretenders, I am a bit disappointed. I understand that this line doesn\'t get as much TLC as the MP line, but it would\'ve been nice to get the same amount of detail as HotRod or Scourge. That being said, I\'ll still be getting some of these as standins. They don\'t scale well with most of the MP, but for the movie figs, some will go well with V1 Bumblebee/Spike, Dainel fig, ER Cliffjumper, Seige Springer, and Universe Arcee, with MP Rodimus Prime, Ultramag, and Oversized Grimlock towering in the background. Even with MP Arcee, and Hot Rod, I could still at least display Springer, V1 Bumbles w/ Cliff, and leave Jazz, Kup, and Blur in vehicle modes.
Yep and if they are clip on I hope they stay on good and sturdy. The foc grimlock from a few years ago had arms that never stayed on.
Jazz to me really does look more like a spillover from Earthrise, whereas Kup and Blurr feel more like SS from the get go.
This is what I've been thinking all along. It makes little sense to put G1 characters in a separate line when they already have a line that they could fit into. Moving them to SS makes sense in respect to the fact these characters are technically "movie" characters. This was probably done solely because next year is Beast Wars' 25th anniversary and Generations is the only line that they could be placed. If not for Beast Wars then Kingdom would feature Season 3 and TFTM characters and SS likely would have continued with more live-action stuff since we're still missing characters like Dino, Hatchet and even a more screen-accurate knight Optimus. I'm still betting on a repaint of Stinger for Bumblebee.
Wasn't stinger built in universe as a copy of bumblebee? Ironic if it works the opposite way toywise. Yes we do need a studio series hatchet and Dino and of course que and the fallen himself. Why the title character of the second movie has not been done yet is beyond me.
I’d say, if you’re getting Vulcanicus just for Grimlock, get the SS86 if you can afford it . He should be bigger and looks so much better than the Vulvanicus/PotP version. Also bear in mind there will be other larger dinobots coming too, if you want them. That being said, if you’re really into combiners and don’t mind smaller dinobots Vulcanicus might be for you. (Even so bear in mind his Grimlock’s dinosaur mode is more compromised. Both are kinda chunky in the hindquarters, but in different ways, and there are gaps where you can see the robots legs.) Vulcanicus’s combined form gets a lot of criticism* but this new version is probably the best looking. *I personally don’t mind him. He’s kinda gangly looking but I kinda like that.
Arcana/ Teslor Brainstorm’s headmaster comparisons: Well done Headsculpt on the update. Perhaps Takara will release the toon accurate colors on the overall Brainstorm figure again?
Agreed. If Scourge can can have a fleet of Sweeps, why can't him Grimlock also have platoon of Grimlocks?
The MM Hot Rod repaints are decoed as Hurricane and Stinger from MASK. Which is, apparently, also the entirety of what Hasbro is doing for MASK's 35th anniversary.
I think it is the Jay Leno type chin. They kinda made Kup's and Blurr's face very rounded and angular instead of blocky. That is why Kup looks gaunt. The faces look more TFA than G1. Is Kup's color correct? I am kinda color blind.
I honestly recommend avoiding Volcanicus if you're just after the Dinobots. TBH the POTP Dinobots kinda suck, Grimlock especially. Unless the SS version is a rickety QC mess that literally falls apart, I can't imagine it not being far superior. But of course, it doesn't combine, so there's that. The team, not the guy. Though there was a Micromaster Hot Hot released with Star Convoy, but he wasn't part of the Hot Rod Patrol. I'm actually really bummed Hasbro never finished the Hot Rod Patrol.
I noticed the yellow is painted over pale plastic. Definately a toy gold chrome version is atleast being considered
So Hot Rod is just deluxe size? Why's he being sold as a voyager, it doesn't seem like he comes with enough accessories to be worth the cost
