Is there a point to buying SS Hot Rod? I have the MP, so this new version looks like a cheapened copy. Plus, I love how Hasbro's designer took a moment to JUSTIFY THE DELUXE SCALE of a Voyager: "but it has a ton of cool accessories!" No, it doesn't. This is what happened to G.I.Joe: Hasbro added a ton of extra guns (3.75" line from 2010), and jacked up prices. The tiny guns did not add actual value, but simulated it. This is Hasbro making toys smaller for more $$$
Personally, I was hoping for a cartoon accurate dino mode. The proportions and shapes on the toy are quite different, mimicking the MP figure instead. That's not bad at all, but as I already own said MP, I'll be skipping this figure.
You forget - tons of collectors out there paying top dollar for accessories. Tell me, Which do you prefer? A $20 deluxe with no accessories and having to pay $20+ for after market accessories, or a Slightly taller deluxe with extra play features and a very good accessories pack coming in in at Just $10 more? But it’s cool. You want that fishing pole, Dr. Wu’s gonna have one available for another $15. -A.S.
Facts! I think it's crazy that people are trying to compare 3P to CHUG, When that same 3P is trying to compete with official MP! But I guess G1 CHUG is just that good now! So I guess CHUG is now out doing MP haha! Sweet!
My heart sank when I saw Retro Headmasters, but lifted again when I saw I wouldn’t have to buy another set so soon after getting Scorponok and Snapdragon. Happy that they’re just redecos, although that Mindwipe looks really nice. But I got my PO’s in for all of the 86’s and the Micromasters, just need Toys ‘r Us or EB to put up the PO’s for Thrust and Runabout.
I mean, as me, I like my T-rexes with modern proportions so I could definitely complain about this having a pose we've known was outdated since the 1970s rather than a modern T-rex appearance, which is why I still love Classics Grimlock for what it is He's certainly a good Grimlock on the "Look like G1" front but I like my Grimlocks modern and my Swoops able to do actual pteranodon walking poses
I honestly hate Banana Grimlock (inaccurate t-rex), but this figure represents G1 Grimlock extremely well, and so I can still call it an amazing figure that I hope is a brick in hand. I much prefer an accurate t-rex mode, which is why his FOC is probably my favorite, given it's G1, but better in every way.
I can here you, everyone is entitled to an opinion but those kind of complaints here are ludicrous, T rex mode not traditional, its not meant to be so to complain on that end is odd, its fine to have preferences but imposing those on a line in direct opposition to it etc like complaining that ER Prime doesn't look enough like TFP OP etx
Agreed! And also the Greatest Studio Series realeses of all time!!!! I'm so happy to be able to experience this time in Transformers history! This truly has been my life long dream come true! And an amazing ride! I am finally getting to complete a real G1 Collection! Definitely looking forward to Much, Much more G1 Studio Series!!!
Hoping to see G1 Devastator punch a hole through Bayvastators face someday , then do his iconic laugh.
Pretty much proving that Grimlock is about 25% too big. Man, this figure is just so disappointing to me. It was SO CLOSE, but it's too big and the canary yellow just looks like garbage on a toy. The cartoon made them yellow because it was impossible to properly display metallic gold. They should have just gone with that. The lack of poseability on the dino arms is also a minor annoyance. What a missed opportunity.
Hot Rod is definitely the winner of this wave for me. Haven't pre-ordered anyone yet, because I'm anticipating an abroad trip on March, and Asia usually gets this stuff early. However, that might get delayed, in which case i'll be sure to pre-order Hot Rod and Scourge. You know, I really don't like the faces on Kup and Blurr. I'm probably skipping out on Kup, and I never wanted another Blurr in the first place (I've grown quite attached to my TR one) I am loving Grimlock, but I don't mind getting him a little late. Same with Jazz.
The more I look at Jazz, the more convinced I am that he was originally intended to be part of Kingdom, and not Studio Series. The level of quality doesn't seem as high when compared to that of Blurr and Kup. Plus he has peg holes on either shoulder and on his back, to accommodate weaponizers or fossilizers.
