Bought a replacement Gamecube and got the itch to play a favorite from back in the day. Found a copy on eBay for a decent price and it was delivered this week.

I think i bought enough new games for awhile to keep me busy a little bit this month

    Paper Mario Origami
    Zelda breath of the wild
Star Wars Battlefront II for X Box One.
also still have Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade 2, and Monster Hunter Stories 1 to play but Monster Hunter Stories 1 is a bit slow in the beginning so thats going to take me a long while.

Plus I still have Playstation 3 games to play such as Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Revelations

This weeks haul. Some more retro goodies in great shape. The SNES is Miiiint, all original manuals and baggies, someone took amazing care of it. I think the cartidges would of had little bags originally as well, but either way, still super happy with it. Especially a box set that includes Mario Kart as well.

It is yep, still in the box with all original manuals baggies and everything. I found it at a local shop, the store owner had just put it out that morning.

This weeks haul, got a few more really nice pieces including a Play it Loud Gameboy still in the original carrying case, man I couldnt believe finding this in the wild and unused condition (its been opened) if there was any color I wanted, it was red too! (or transparent). I showed my daughter "look at this red Gameboy I got!! And she goes wooooww its beautiful! Wheres the Gamegirl?" (She's 4)

Games I have purchased this year (roughly reverse order)

Hades - Fun hack and slash rogue lite. Fantastically characterful. It's so good I'm considering getting it on the Switch too. 8/10

Star Wars: Squadrons - Narrow focus, but great depth of gameplay mechanics. Not sure how much long term appeal this will hold, but it's been a blast so far. 7/10

Horizon Zero Dawn - Amazing story, great visuals, and the combat against robot beasts is excellent. The rest of it is bog standard grindy open world tripe. The good far outweighs the bad. 8/10

Super Mario 35th Anniversary Collection - Three excellent games. No real commemorative extras, aside from the music player at the main menu, but I don't really care about that kind of thing. This is only brought down by Mario 64 - I wish they'd used the 3DS version, or made it widescreen. 9/10

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw - Everything that isn't the gameplay is amazing. Music, amazing, ship design, amazing, atmosphere, amazing. Too bad the gameplay is just... boring? Everything feels slow and stodgy. 5/10

Hardspace Shipbreaker - Early access title about pulling spaceships apart for scrap. Very zen. It's not much more than a sandbox right now. I look forward to some story being bolted on to the pretty nifty gameplay. 7/10

Tropico 6 - If you're expecting that Firaxis has done anything as radical as actually substantively progressing the gameplay, then you're in for a bad time. I refunded it within 2 hours. It's not a bad game, but it is essentially the exact same game as Tropico 3/4/5. 5/10 (for my experience with it. As I said, it's not necessarily a bad game)

Into the Breach - Like FTL: Faster Than Light before it, mechanically interesting enough to be fun to play for a few hours, but too frustrating to put time into mastering. 6/10

XCOM: Chimera Squad - Fun, if limited in scope compared to its forebears. Given it sold for $15aud (a sixth of the price of a AAA title at launch), more than worth the price of asking. 8/10

Borderlands 3 - I mean, it's fun, but it is essentially the same game as Borderlands 1, 2 and The Pre Sequel, just with different characters. I enjoyed all of those thoroughly with friends, and if I learned anything from Borderlands 3 it's that I don't like that kind of game nearly as much when I'm playing solo. 7/10

House of the Dying Sun - Fantastic indie space combat game in the vein of Battlestar Galactica (the good one, not the 1980s one). Very short, but a sweet ride. Wait for a sale. 7/10

Not to enable, but finding a NES or SNES in working condition isn't too expensive...

Dooooo it. I just started a few months ago and I had to upgrade to some new shelving today so I can display it all. Been working away all night at this build (huge wip) I've collected toys for years but video games are getting to be just as if not more collectable. I've been collecting CIB stuff and buying acrylic protectors for it all, getting an amazing copy of your favorite games is very satisfying. They display great and you can play em anytime!
