Does the Bayverse SS have hollow bits and lack paint? ... I'm thinking a little more should have gone into Jazz.
As far as we can tell from the SS86 figures that have been reviewed so far (Hot Rod, Kup, Scourge) and stood next to Siege/Earthrise figures, they fit right in scale-wise to their heights in the G1 scale chart. And y'all... I'm pretty sure "4.5 inches" is the height they use in the listing for every Studio Series Deluxe. I'm confident this Jazz will be more in line with the Siege/Earthrise guys. Same thing with Hot Rod even, his listing says he's 6.5" tall when we know from photos comparing him to ER Optimus that he's shorter than that. The height they list in the description doesn't necessarily correspond to the actual height of the individual figure.
They do, but it's usually easier to hide on the busier Bay designs. Jazz is nothing out of the ordinary, it's just a lot more apparent on his more simple design.
While I would have preferred a Jazz with car mode a bit closer to the original G1 toy and Porsche, I get why they couldn’t do that. Besides this is actually even closer to the film/tv version than the original G1 was. I don’t own Jazz, and this is a nice version, so I’ll probably order this. Hot Rod, not so sure. I like the design well enough, but as I understand there’s a Rodimus Prime coming to Kingdom, should I get them both? You take off his trailer and it’s essentially a longer version of Hot Rod right? I wish I could see it to compare before Hot Rod opens for preorders... ... it’s so nice, I think I’ll get it. (A bit of a stream of consciousness post there. And are people really using this thread to argue as to whether or not Hot Rod is responsible for Optimus’s death? Regardless of whether or not he played a part, the movie is basically Hot Rod’s coming of age story. He acted rashly with good intentions to disastrous results... (partly but not totally his fault) then through adversity ended up overcoming his self doubt and becoming the leader the Autobots needed. And got a slightly silly new name. A classic hero journey story. With the possible exception of the silly name bit. And in the ends it was Megatron who shot Optimus. With a peashooter. After Optimus had survived a barrage of Decepticon fire shortly before his “I’ve got the touch” somersaulty action sequence. Ultra Magnus got hit worse and he got better after an application of magic Junkion ointment. There you go. ‘Twas plot that killed Optimus. Most importantly, this Hot Rod is a cool toy.
I got you my dude... TBH I do wish they would do an 86 Devastator. It will likely happen at some point, but if they do an over sized "Action Master" I wouldn't be disappointed. TBH Toyworld Devastator looks really good in my Neo Classics/Generations setup. Even though this year has been quite a year its really good stuff overall for us collectors. Cheers Mate
I see a lot more kids in the transformers toy section than I do adults The yellow parts are most likely that plastic that's been deemed "unpaintable" because the Hasbro factory paints don't adhere to it very well. It's more durable and flexible than the average plastic, that's why you see it used for the big spoiler and for various joints, like the knees and car roof. Those need to be tougher plastic to avoid breakages. And It's yellow because the spoiler is the biggest and most important piece on the mold tree of the tougher plastic, and it would be too expensive to make a whole different mold just to split the knees and roof hinge into a different color from the spoiler
Have we gotten a clearer picture of Grimlock other than the ones on the first few pages? I've been searching this thread but there's so many pages now...
You need to rewatch the movie, Megatron was clearly reaching for the gun prior to Hot Rod jumping him That mold is an abberation because it was specifically designed to represent the appearance of both G1 and G2 Prime depending on how it was painted and how you position the shoulder pads. It is also not a dedicated update since the mold was also pretty clearly designed to be Octane first Prime could have shot Megatron and been done with it, instead he gloated. If you don't believe that then you need to rewatch the movie. He had plenty of time to shoot Megatron prior to Hot Rod jumping in (and he only jumped in because he saw Prime hesitate and he saw Megatron reach for the gun)
I’m happy with this. Screw the size chart. The Dinobots were giants when initially introduced in the cartoon. That’s how I like them. Big!
Jazz looks great. And I would really love to get an Artfire/Stepper 2-pack next year. The elements are all there.
I didn't say otherwise. I just said that had Hot Rod not jumped Megatron, Megatron reaching for the pistol would be a moot point as Optimus would've shot him had he not had Hot Rod as a hostage.
No he jumped in because he's a bleeding idiot. Prime had complete control of the situation until Hot Rod came along. Megatron pulling that pistol into view and firing is akin to drawing on police whose already drawn on you. Which is exactly what would've happened if Hot Rod hadn't made himself a hostage by jumping Megs instead of the sensible thing of keeping distance and shooting him.
