Embrace your American birthright, live in debt!

Actually, PayPal credit those suckers, six months interest free at the total price of buying those two together.

Wow. It's been almost a year since that post and Netclow still hasn't sold out of these.

Yeah, competition for an MP Inferno was fierce! Crazy fierce! Hell, we're still waiting on one of them!
Still, Hellfire was my choice and I am very happy with it. It's a great figure. Totally worth picking up.

Haha, I hadn't even noticed your post stamp as I just assumed it was your post that bumped the thread; it was the post below that had :lol

So, I got a deal on this figure, and was looking for a toyish figure to place with my Diaclone MPs. Initially, I thought this figure was too animeish for said collection with the more Pat Lee-style bloated proportions.

I couldn't have been more wrong. This guy will fit in nicely. The Reprolabels set really makes it shine, too.

I still like this way more than the official MP. It's the closest to being toy-accurate to the G1 toy which I'm biased towards since it was one of my favorites as a kid.

I'd argue the MMC version is a closer interpretation of the original toy (also the way I see Inferno) since both are tall and slim. In contrast Maketoys is more chubby. Perhaps Hellfire is the best mix between toy and toon look: more chubby like the toon, while detailed liked the toy?

The big plus of Maketoys over MMC for me is the fun factor. I like MMC Inferno's look (very reminscent of both the toy and the box art), but I don't like doing anything with it. Not posing and especially not transforming. He's just not fun. Hellfire is. I'd say he's even more fun than the official MP and that one is praised for his transformation and posing.

It's this fun that even though I don't care about Grapple at all, I bought the Maketoys version of Grapple so I could still have the fun figure while MMC is my Inferno for the looks.

Haha. We're the same about Grapple. I did something similar: I don't care at all about Grapple, but I bought MP Grapple, just to have him in the group, but still be different from Hellfire.

Funny how we sometimes make justifications for our purchases :-D

I considered the MP. Okay, I bought it, sold it and then bought the KO. Except I considered the MP for Inferno, but then I'd have to kitbash it quite a bit (lines on the legs, painting parts). Current plan is MMC for toy based Inferno and the KO MP as base for New Rodimus kitbash (a planned Takara idea in the 80's or 90's in which Rodimus Prime would be a fire engine).

But Grapple...no, that had to be Maketoys. For my work I often have to work on construction sites and I noticed three types of construction workers: young with big muscles, middle aged and fat, and old and thin. Maketoys Grapple reminded me so much of a Construction foreman I once worked with.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but anyone have pictures of this figure with some CHUG figures in both modes, preferably Earthrise ones like the Datsuns and Optimus Prime? He looks so much better in both modes than the Kingdom or Universe ones, and the Kingdom one is way too small so I'd like to see how this version scales. I care more about vehicle mode scale than robot mode scale for him. I'm guessing it'll be way too big but he did look a bit undersized compared to other MPs in Emgo's review, and firetrucks are supposed to be pretty big so it seems possible he might work?

I don't have that mold, but ER Prime or any of the regular sized Deluxe car bots would. Deluxe car bots or the Voyager Prime from Siege would work too, they're all basically the same size as their ER counterparts I think?

Thanks! To my untrained eyes the vehicle mode scale actually looks pretty close there, and since Optimus is at a slightly smaller scale than most Deluxe ER cars it'll probably work even better with the others. I just have to decide if I'm okay with him being that much taller in robot mode now or if I'm willing to sacrifice my preferred aesthetics for the Henkei one...
