Beat Super Mario 64 for the first time, thanks to Super Mario 3D All Stars. Despite its age, the gameplay is still solid, and has stood to the test of time. Feels weird playing it, having played 64 DS before this, but even so, I’ve enjoyed it.

    Next stop: Super Mario Sunshine!

Mario 64 is so good. The camera is awful, but the rest of it is entirely up to modern standards.

Still working on the original Tomb Raider. I’m in the final chapter (3 levels) and just about done with the first of those.

I tried out Among Us. I was murdered within a minute the first round and then next I got voted out because I happened to be close to a vent when the nearby body I was moving towards was found.

Add insult to injury, I still have to do work even as a ghost. Even death cannot save you from labor :(

    Hope you enjoy Sunshine!

Never played a Tomb Raider, should get around to it at some point.

    Playing Spyro Reignited.

Got 97% first playthrough of the 1st game. Don't have the patience to try to get everything done in one go for the flying levels.

On the sequel and just beat Crush.

Been enjoying these and its nice to replay these with more awareness of the game itself.

Birthdays: The Beginning. LOVE this game! So relaxing and fun. It's flown under the radar, but I highly recommend it.

    It's an indie naval game.

Happily blowing the Imperial Russian Navy out of the water. I mean, literally.

I suck at this game but they're losing their ships twice as fast as I'm wrecking mine, so I'm going to win the campaign anyway. I'm starting to suspect that the game accurately simulates the Imperial Japanese fleet abyssmal damage control training, though.

Also, that game thankfully has no options like the player being recalled to Tokyo to explain how did I manage to run two of their brand new ships into a minefield.
It's THEIR fault for not putting the reverse gear on their fancy cruisers!

Finished Super Mario Sunshine, more or less. Beat Bowser at least. (fuck the Hotel Lobby's Secret and that damn cog)
Don't think I'll go for all the Shines. I actually skipped the first one after the intro, kinda want to keep it 'blank'.

And with that I'm done with Super Mario 3D All-Stars!

64 holds a lot of nostalgia for me, but looking back it hasn't aged well. Hearing new players say it's unplayable is understandable, if hyperbolic. Still, I really do adore how free-roam it is. The later Mario games haven't quite captured that 'any star and any world in any order' feel.

Sunshine's still my fave of the three. The FLUDD and a decidedly acrobatic Mario make exploring a lot of fun, the levels are nice and expansive, and the plot of Bowser's kid attempting to rescue his "mother" from mean old Mario is amusing. Progression thru the game is a lot more restrictive, though, with less levels overall, which you're forced to go thru almost all the stars in a certain order, and the stars that you can get elsewhere don't really matter. Shadow Mario chases get redundant fast (and you gotta do like a dozen of them), and the Blue Coins feel like they exist just to compensate for the lack of levels.
    Still.... water jet pack!

Galaxy is alright. The sense of exploration is totally gone, with the overworld is essentially nonexistent, the levels are on-rails and have fewer stars, which means you don't really get to know them all that well. Certainly a lot more variety than Sunshine though, heh.

This just about summarises my feelings on all three games as well.

Well, Kanimura's part of the story is done and dusted, ending with a boat chase of all things. Can't help think that I'd be more appreciative of his portion of Yakuza 4 if I hadn't already played Judgment. I did get a kick out of his nonchalant facial expressions (read: blank) when I'd go for a certain style of Heat Action grabs to dislocate elbows. Putting thugs in traction while wondering what dive he's gonna wander into for chow time later that night.

And now we're back in Kamurocho with Kiryu, and it feels so right.

This is definitely 1 thread I haven't talked much if any at all. Although when Assassins Creed Valhalla comes out I'm playing and probably going to need help. I'm really hoping this game returns back to when it was cool like AC Brotherhood. I won't be playing on a PS5 YET but i still hope it comes true i can save enough cash to buy 1 somewhere online from retail but that's gonna be hard no matter what. Still have a 4K tv and hopefully can buy 4K movies since its also a 4K Blu-ray dvd player at that.

I've started playing red dead redemption, and one of my immediate thoughts was: why doesn't the second one have the wobbly, drunken walking physics that the first one has? Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to get rid of that? Imagine if they paired the swirly vision of the second one, with the loosey goosey stumbling from the first? That would've made getting intoxicated so much more fun. Also, the first red dead redemption is just amazing, besides the hilariously fun activity of getting piss drunk. You know it's a good game when you just stop playing for a second to take it all in, and you know it's REALLY good when you do that multiple times in like ten minutes.

Took a longer than planned break from Yakuza 5, finishing up Shinada's chapter. I love this franchise but playing 4 games in a row wasn't a good idea.

Yakuza burnout is real. Took me two years to get back into and finish Kiwami 2.

And then they had to go and bundle three games together (I buy physical discs still, sue me) -- but I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of the whole thing. Skipping LaD's release window because of burnout, might pick it up later.
