It's funny you mention this because I was watching the original GI Joe movie last night and with people asking about Lt Falcon answering to his brother Duke who is a SGT, it caught my ear that there was a line in the movie when Duke is chewing him out for bringing a date on the premises, and Falcon says "I'm an officer and I'm pulling rank!". So it clearly wasn't lost on the writers that Falcon technically outranked Duke. It's also worth noting that papi GI Joe - Larry Hama was also in the service so, much like yourself, would understand chain of command beyond how it appears on paper.
Cool, thanks. I missed that the first time around. My friend's a big GI Joe collector but isn't really connected to the internet and didn't get to go to any shows this year (all of them were cancelled). So I think this will be a good gift for him if Walmart actually ships them before Christmas.
i actually saw Duke, Snake-eyes, Scarlett and Roadblock at Gamestop yesterday... thinking back I probably should have gotten that Snake but I wasn't thinking (have the super-deluxe one already)...
One more pic; finally got in "Profit Director" Destro, and Dr. Doom paid a visit to Cobra Palace with some merchandise in hand, in return for preventing GI Joe from interfering with Latveria... _DSC7074.jpg by offramp_climber, on Flickr
Thanks, was on the verge of paying the ebay tax. Okay, so the F.A.N.G. is coming out next. Do we have another retro Joe vehicle lined up? I'm still hoping for a Wolverine with Cover Girl. It's the same size as the H.I.S.S.
Skimmed through a video of the cut scenes and ending of Operation Blackout. All the vehicle designs are styalized yet familiar. Whomever drew the Skystriker at times drew it like an F/A-18 Hornet and F-22 instead of an F-14. The Rattler got a bit of a redesign with boxy engine intakes and a different canopy. I don’t know if these are Easter Eggs for more retro releases but if so, I can tell that people would prefer straight up rereleases rather than retooling to match the game. I was surprised that the retro FANG got some retooling for example. Here’s the Air Chariot, which I don’t mind in the Classified line so long as the Serpentor doesn’t look too far removed from ARAH: Hoping Classified Cobra Storm Shadow comes with a hood as sometimes depicted in the game. If so, it might look better than Classified Arctic Storm Shadow. All the designs were recognizable if you remember ARAH. The main difference was Jinx who takes more cues from the VVV design(ponytail, blindfold, no mask).
I didn't look at it closely at all, just saw the numbers on the side of the boxes that were on a high shelf and tried to figure out which was which
I think Serpentor will probably be pretty close. Honestly, I feel like Cobra has been closer to their ARAH designs overall (with the exception of Firefly and "Arctic" Storm Shadow) compared to the Joes. Needs to be a deluxe though. I'd rather the Air Chariot not be released as a separate piece... so long as it's not exclusive like Baroness and the Coil were.
Arctic Storm Shadow is clearly the Ninja Force Storm Shadow though, so even that is quite accurate to the ARAH design. Beachhead, Snake-Eyes, and Duke are fairly close as well. Hell, Roadblock is quite close to his second design. The only ones I'd say that are quite different are Scarlett and Gung-Ho.
Arctic Storm Shadow only has the deco placement and colors of ARAH Ninja Force Storm Shadow along with a Kama and hood, it’s not an exact replication. Inspired yes, accurate, no.
Oh, ok. I heard the Joes had their own robot grunts in the game, but maybe that’s not it. Anyway, looks like shit. Pass.
Hold on now. Some slight changes and change the color to yellow and black and it doesn't seem that far off from a BAT really
