    TFA.

TFP one proved to be so dense he's good only for confronting brainless beasts.

Physically no, but it actually is possible to beat someone physically more powerful and skilled if you can you out smart them. Especially in fiction... like Batman literally does this ALL THE TIME! Batman vs. Bane? How does Batman beat him? Not using his strength because Bane is inhumanly strong and Batman is just a normal guy. He figures out that the venom is what's making Bane so strong and cuts off Bane's supply.

There are real world examples as well and you don't even need to be Einstein. You can win a boxing match without ever landing a single punch on your opponent. All you have to do is dodge and block their attacks, make them do all the work. If they can't land a punch but they're actually trying to, they're exerting more energy than you would be just staying on guard, never exerting any energy into a single punch. They will tire out before you will because they're using more energy. It's going to be a really long fight but essentially you're making your opponent pass out from exhaustion.

Another good strategy, as I already pointed out... Prime Megatron is shown to have too much pride to ever back down from a fight even in the rare instances where he can't win that fight. You know why hazing exists in sports... it's a manipulation tactic used to get into an opponent's head and throw off their game. It doesn't matter if they're better or more skilled if you can take advantage of a personality weakness and throw off their game.

Example... Enemy has the upper hand, you've been disarmed, so you yell out "What's the matter tough guy, can't beat an unarmed man without your weapons?" and suddenly you've just disarmed them with your wit not your strength or skill. Unless they don't care about your taunting and have no shame in doing just that but someone as pride driven as Prime Megatron would retract his sword just to prove he doesn't need it to finish the job.

Now it's a very slim chance that this stuff ACTUALLY works... it doesn't happen in real life anywhere near as often as it does in fiction... in fact I think that boxing example is the only real world example that got adapted into fiction and started the whole idea of brains beating brawn... but even intelligent people make mistakes and it's actually really difficult to think on your feet especially in a fight so the likelihood of that actually being helpful is pretty slim.

Someone mentioned in an earlier post that the winner would be whoever the author decides should win. And if they decide Animated... then his cunning is going to end up being a factor in how that win actually happens. But I could seen that being harder to write and preferring to take the easy way out that the stronger character wins.

Aw... well the Magnus Hammer is a powerful weapon that is basically equal to Marvel's Thor and Megatron's swords are just basically equal to normal katana blades... so why would expect him to win? Plus it's the series finally so yeah, Optimus was basically a Norse god by that point.

Tfa, he was in stasis longer but he had a longterm plan meanwhile prime Megatron just happened to get revived because pure coincidence. Animated Megatron is also able to fight much longer while missing alot of him while prime's incarnation gets some scratches and almost dies.

Bruh you really need to watch Prime properly. Observe how he faces Predaking. He doesn't charge him, he stands his ground and waits for Predaking to make the first move. Then he dodges and begins tactfully slashing him with his sword. He fights strategically and in that fight he even says "But I was champion of the pits of Kaon not only due to my savage might. But also my cunning!". Plus as a gladiator Megs will win however he can, before engaging Predaking he was off to get the Dark Star Sabre. You don't become a champion by fighting fair. He wouldn't allow himself to be tricked into forfeiting an advantage.

Batman wins because he has more gadgets and tools than Bane. That's a bad example. Plus TFP Megs doesn't have such a weakness as a venom tube. So it's a really bad example.

The magnus hammer is powerful mostly at a range. At close range it's basically a big hammer, which prime has to hold with 2 hands. So at close range Megatron should have sliced and skewered Optimus as he had 2 swords which leads me to believe his swordsmanship isn't all that. Plus we know TFP Megs armour withstand sword strike easily as Optimus was slashing him in their very first fight and it never cut through. But TFP Megatron's blade could cut through Optimus's own arm blade.

Bruh you need to read properly. For one thing, Predaking has intelligence but Megatron is smarter than him. For another that's combat skill and brute force. You're really just kind of proving my point there that Prime Megatron is too prideful and reliant on strength alone. Animated Megatron doesn't brag about his skills he just DOES IT. And despite what Megatron may say in that scene it doesn't really SHOW much "cunning" to over power a beast with less intelligence. Again Predaking isn't as dumb as he first appears but he's more intelligent than Starscream but less so than Megatron.

Also the first post clearly said no power ups so the Dark Star Saber isn't even an option in the first place. And what do you mean allow himself to be tricked? Like he has a choice? lol Animated is smarter than he is. It's not a matter of what he'd "allow" if it's going to happen it's going to happen. And it did happen in Prime already where Dreadwing had to bail him out because Megatron refused to back down from a losing fight. Something Animated Megatron has never done, he knows when to make a strategic retreat and change tactics... Which does not always mean continue fighting but using different maneuvers as you seem to think it does. It means being smart enough to recognize when your enemy is physically stronger and getting the hell out of the fight till you can find a weakness to exploit. Something Animated knows how to do but Prime has never done. Prime will stay in a fight even when he's losing because he's too proud to admit when he can't with brute force alone. You keep using examples where he wins using brute force, not cunning.

No, Batman wins because he's SMARTER than Bane. The gadgets and tools are meaningless if you don't know how to use them properly. Other characters have managed to take his utility belt on several occasions and either couldn't even figure out how open the damn thing or ended up hurting THEMSELVES trying to use those same gadgets and tools.

And Bane has beat Batman as well... using just sheer brute force and breaking his back.

You totally missed the point of that example. It's not about the venom tube, it's about out smarting a stronger opponent. Batman has strategies for taking out every single member of the Justice League just in case any of them ever turn evil, most of them have actual super powers and could easily defeat Batman who is just a normal man with no powers yet Bruce can out smart ALL OF THEM rendering them powerless. Everyone has a weakness even Prime Megatron which I already stated is his freaking Pride. Prime Megatron is over confident in his skills as a gladiator. That's something that can very easily be taken advantage of.

If Animated Megatron can pick the battle field he'd choose a location that would give him an advantage, some place where he can trick Prime Megatron into defeating HIMSELF. Just like a boxer who wins a match without ever throwing a single punch. Get Prime Megatron in the bottom of the grand canyon for example. Animated just has to dodge attacks while Prime Megatron causes an avalanche and buries himself in rocks. Animated gets the hell out of the way while Prime Megatron defeats himself.

That said... Megatron's pride is a very difficult weakness to take advantage of and Animated really needs to have control over where the battle takes place in order to do anything with it. If they're out in a open area where he has no place to run or hide, he's going to be totally screwed.

As I already pointed out in an earlier post. Having two swords vs. one isn't automatically better. The same could be said about 2 swords vs. a hammer.

The Magnus hammer is a slower and heavier weapon but it's going to have more power with each attack. Megatron's swords are pretty flimsy in comparison. Skill probably factors in here as well cause Optimus we know isn't use to this weapon, his ax is smaller and has it's own built in thruster so Optimus isn't use to wielding such a large heavy weapon. He still seems to handle it pretty well despite this however.

So yeah... we basically agree on this point. Not sure why you're even bringing it up again.

Again... I agree so what's you're point? It's not even a question of who's physically stronger or more skilled in combat at this point because we both agree that easily goes to Prime. The part we disagree on is which one of them is SMARTER!

Brute Strength and combat skills = Prime

    Cunning and manipulative = Animated

TFP Megs. Animated Megs hasn't really proven himself as a fighter. He's had a few skirmishes but never anything that demonstrated impressive combat skill. In that regard TFP Megatron would mop the floor with him. As for the cunning... Yeah that goes to TFP Megs too. Thing is when Animated Megs is a severed head he is quite a threat in spite of no mobility. When he gets his body back he loses that supposed "cunning" everyone claims he has. I honestly cannot recall any feat demonstrating his intellect that wasn't a case of his opponent just being an idiot.

@Maximus Danz Actually, TFP Megatron never used his fusion cannon to kill Dreadwing; he used Dreadwing's own mortar cannon, which was discarded earlier. On top of that, It took three shots from his fusion cannon to down a single Autobot, being Bumblebee.

TFA Megatron's fusion cannon, on the other hand, was shown to be able to physically blow other bots to pieces. This was demonstrated when he used it on Starscream during the events of "Endgame."

Oh shit, my bad. That was me miss-remembering the scene, I didn't realize it was his own canon.

Then yes, TFA Megs has a much stronger canon, He burned through the hull of Omega supreme and one shoted Starscream 3 times with it.

But the argument is who would win in a fight. Megatron isn't gonna do prep time like Batman. He can't carry a utility belt.

The argument of who's smarter will be an endless back and forth. TFP megs knew the cure for the cybonic plague, he discovered how to control dark energon and figured out how to bypass the restrictions of the Forge of Solus Prime.

So lets settle on the argument on which Megs would win in a fight and applying scaling comparisons along TFP megs has the edge as he fights and beats tougher Autobots.

TFP Megs never found a way to "control" Dark Energon. He had the willpower to not be consumed by madness, but he ended up as a servant of Unicron, subservient to the chaos god's will, anyways

I think the argument of who is "smarter" is pointless. The point I originally brought up 2 pages ago was TFA Megs was more cunning against appoints stronger and weaker than him, while TFP Megs is shown numerous times rushing into battle and not coming out the victor cause of that.

And there's a small chance that Animated can outsmart Prime in a fight.

He doesn't need to you're missing the point. The fight could start out as a straight fight but Animated Megatron isn't dumb enough to stick around in a fight he can't win. He's going to strategically retreat and probably lure Prime Megatron to a new location where Animated might be able to take advantage of Prime's foolish Pride and trick him into defeating HIMSELF. Though Animated would have to out maneuver Prime and dodge attacks as long as he possibly can. It's no guarantee and Prime will most likely still win but Animated could under the right conditions possibly out smart Prime.

Having or not having a utility belt has nothing to do with one's ability to outwit an opponent. Those are just TOOLS. Batman can still out smart criminals even without it.

Nope that's clearly Animated just as who is stronger is clearly Prime.

The Decepticons, more specifically Shockwave, created that plague in the first place.

He just randomly put Dark Energon into his own body. That's not really a show of intelligence as he actually IGNORED the advice of those more intelligent in order to do that. That's just dumb luck.

Which wasn't that difficult. Everyone knew only a Prime could use it, he took an arm from a Prime.

I said Megatron's intelligence was average, showing that he had common knowledge everyone else did as well isn't disproving that.

What argument? We already agree that Prime is physically stronger and would most likely win. There was never an argument over this. The argument started because you felt like insulting everyone who voted for Animated Megatron. I agree with you that Prime should win, but no one is an idiot for voting otherwise as you claim they were. I think it's a pretty slim chance but Animated Megatron is smarter, if he can out wit Prime Megatron he has a chance of winning. Brains over brawn.

It's ironic you call people stupid just for having a different opinion that you yet you can't even comprehend what we're talking about. You think Batman's intelligence comes from his belt instead of his brain, how stupid can you be?

I think TFA would win simply because he's not one to pull punches. He never blasted anyone unless he fully intended to end them, and rarely wasted time in acting or was caught unawares.

He's the "faster draw" so to speak.

There's actually nothing to imply the TFP Autobots are tougher than the TFA ones. In TFA the Autobots were plenty strong and resilient on average, it's just that the Decepticons were so much stronger than them.

TFA Megs, for example, survived two nuclear blasts at point-blank, though just barely. TFP Megatron without Dark Energon was rendered helpless by... rocks.

In defense of TFA Megatron, at the beginning of the show it had four million years since the end of the great war. The fact that he was as skilled as he was after so many years of inactivity just goes to show how absolutely devastating he'd be in his prime. He was also in a new body on Earth, so I'd imagine that also hampered him a little bit towards the beginning.

You say there's nothing to prove the Prime Autobots are stronger then you immediately prove the Prime Autobots are stronger.

Animated Autobots are about half the size of the Decepticons in that series and it takes five of them to take out a single Decepticon.

Prime Autobots are about equal size and strength to the Decepticons.

You just proved Prime Autobots are stronger.

When was TFP Megatron rendered helpless by rocks? You mean UNICRON?

The Prime Decepticons were also far, far weaker than their Animated counterparts. The Animated Decepticons were weapons-laden, expert warriors and nigh impervious to damage, whereas the Prime Decepticons' weapons were pathetically weak, pretty much solely useful against Humans, and they always ran at the slightest sign of trouble.

This is a silly comparison because it's trying to dictate who would win in a fight between two shows that handled their Megatrons completely differently.

TFA kept Megatron in reserve and only brought him out when the absolute asskicking had to go down at the end of a season. But he was still very much a threat because of his intellect and as a strategist - even when he could have controlled the Omega Supremes directly, he knew that would put him into a position of vulnerability where Starscream could kill him, so instead Megatron opted to pull a fast one on Starscream and have Lugnut end up in the chair. Lugnut not shutting the fuck up about how glorious Megatron was the entire time annoyed the crap out of Megatron, but the logic was sound was Lugnut's loyalty was unquestionable and thus ensured Megatron still had full control over the Supremes despite not actually being in the control chair.

TFP Megatron had to get brought out all the damn time because he was treated as the brutish barbarian type, which was wildly inconsistent (seriously, that dumb ass fight with him against the Insecticons where he was struggling against enemies that are later shown to really be not much stronger than vehicons just underscored the show's constant problem of not having any sense of power scope or power creep). Furthermore, he threw away advantages that were handed to him on a silver platter and constantly made bad choices. Oh, the Goldeneye-esque kill satilite got destroyed because Soundwave fucking sucked at his job? Nope, better punish Silasdown even though A) Silas was busy defending the actual control center from Bulkhead and B) if the humans had the kill sat, what other toys could Silas provide Megatron free of charge? Nope, better just let him die for something that wasn't even his fault. And then Megatron got intimidated by Predaking showcasing the ability to transform which Megatron had not been informed about...even though the show makes it perfectly clear this is something Predaking literally evolved himself as having out of sheer will (as well as teaching himself how to read and use computers) and all Predaking wanted was to be leader of his people - to Megatron, this was a super soldier saying he'd forgive the abuse he'd suffered literally his entire life, so long as he got to be the general in charge of the other dragons. What does Megatron do? Destroys the protoforms because he does't want more soldiers like Predaking evolving abilities he isn't told beforehand about. This backfires exactly the way you would think, too, and Megatron has little trouble throwing Predaking out the airlock, completely invalidating the idea Megatron ever felt threatened in the first place.

TFA Megatron would win, but not because of a battle of strength alone. His wit and cunning far outstrip TFP Megatron and could use whatever the situation presented him with to formulate a battle plan that gave him an edge. TFP Megatron, being the complete moron with a one-track mind, could easily be manipulated into thinking something that TFA Megatron wants him to think. Something as simple as TFA Megatron hiding from sight, then throwing a rock while TFP Megatron is looking away to make a noise elsewhere to draw attention. Then, when TFP Megatron's back is turned, TFA Megatron (who can fly in robot mode) rushes TFP Megatron and drives a sword into his counterpart's back with a few cannon shots for good measure.

    Megatron Wins. Fatality. Flawless victory.
