Personally I'm okay with minor/accessory "partsforming". As long as the part is relatively small, and has somewhere to go/stow in both modes. What I don't care for is needing a tray of parts on hand any time I want to transform a figure.

Nicee bothers me a bit, but not because of the shield/trunk. You can keep that tabbed into the taillights or use as a shield in bot mode, which is all good. It's actually the hands that bug me, because they don't all work with transformation. As far as I can tell, only the splayed hands really work in alt mode, everything else causes problems. If the other hands fit better in the alt mode, or you could stow a pair somewhere, like on the underside of the shield/trunk, that would be a lot better.

Hopefully there's more space for the hands on Scarlet Princess.

you can stow the hands under the trunk.
they may rattle a little, but the weapon holding hands don't fall out(I haven't tried other hands as they're not as important)

I don't know if it's fair to say people are "finding" something here. The thing is, that was back in the 80's. It was the best they could do back then. They also barely had any articulation, but we beat that limitation (which, primarily, is what partsforming back then was--overcoming a limitation). It's 2020 now. That's fine if you're okay with it, but a lot of us don't find it a dumb thing.

Partsforming and faux parts are the two biggest issues I have with figures. There can be exceptions to the rule (Omega Supreme, who has to turn into too many separate things, or Overlord with both his modes, etc). But there are better ways to make a figure now, that the limitation isn't anywhere needed as before.

(Also, T30 Arcee doesn't partsform. Technically, Animated Arcee also, as you can leave the spoilers on the whole way through.)

I wasn't very interested in Nicee, but being a partsformer made it easier to ignore (EDIT: and to the below conversation, it is indeed NOT a partsformer--I stand corrected). I am very interested in this Windblade. But if you have to take it apart to transform it, I'm not interested in buying it. If it's optional to clean it up, cool (this I have no issue with--because then everyone is happy). Otherwise, I'll do the same thing and move on to whatever else interests me.

I'm curious, how is Nicee a partsformer? Several bits can be swapped or removed, but you can transform Nicee between bot and alt mode without any partsforming.

That's interesting to hear. The last I checked on it, I was under the impression you had to take it apart to convert it. If that's not the case, then I have no problem with it and will correct my earlier statement.

You're supposed to take off the trunk but you can actually leave it on in bot mode. Doesn't look great there, though. Here's a couple pics where I left her trunk on in bot mode:

Thanks for those. See, to me, that doesn't look bad. In fact, the way it flares out gives it a lot of character. I love that kind of look. I just don't need this as Arcee, and I tend not to collect one-offs. Windblade in this stylized look (at least, as she looks in the concept) would be perfectly fine in my MP collection. We'll have to wait and see how she turns out. I would imagine if you don't have to take the parts off for Nicee, they would do the same thing for their Windblade.

You mean... like most of the earthrise line cars, ironhide, cliff, arcee to name a few......... the IH in particular I found hilarious because its partforming is also super G1 toy accurate in a sense :-D

I'm perfectly ok with the amount of partsforming Nicee does and Scarlet Princess will do.

Which makes absolutely no sense and is no justification for partsforming in any way, but is just the usual pointless antisocial snide attempt to shut up anyone who voices rational critique.

I believe the whole thing is that she's not actually a Partsformer. You can leave everything attached and transform her just fine. :)

they just simply give options to remove things to use them for other things if you so choose to. :)

as for me? well I choose to do this with mine: :)

EX-01 NICEE - INSECT MODE (That's my Nicee btw.)

EX-01 NICEE - DEATHSCYTHE MODE (My same nicee)

Let me put it this way . . . companies tend only to care about what will sell the best. If that includes an homage to a popular character in a, um ...unique style, that incorporates accessories in alternate mode, then so be it. I personally am fine with partsforming, because complex engineering solutions would be too costly.

Not sure if its been discussed but what about certain characters get R63 (gender swap) treatment for new molds. Like say CHUG Barricade is a skimpy cop or something? Would be neat if they ever do a counter to a supposed Strongarm.
