I don't think there's anything over- or under-rated about G1. It's what started it all and gets the appropriate recognition. There's more to the G1 show than animation and stories. A very important component of the lasting power of the show is ; it made cultural impact. That's hard to imagine looking back to it now and seeing flaws of the medium, but back in the 80s it was new, visually impressive and probably every kid and parent at that time could make the transformation sound. No other TF show made that kind of impact. Some later show were better animated others better written but they lack the cultural impact. The only thing that came close are the Bay Movies. They created a similar buzz..

But to get back to the main question
A year ago I would've said Cyberverse is underrated, but it slowly gets the attention it deserves.

Apart from that I think all of them get pretty much the attention they deserve.

 

Overrated: Transformers Prime
Underrated: Cybertron/Galaxy Force (Yes, doesn't matter if it's Japanese or American version, both are underrated)

Come now. You're making out that a show over 10 years ago has it's down dedicated discussion page with several threads and active posts is just a mistake.

That sounds utterly ridiculous.

 

Underrated: Armada, Energon, Cybertron. That is right I said Energon in that. I feel that the whole Unicron Trilogy has really gotten swept under the rug for the most part and it is a shame because despite their flaws they are each three major shows that carried the franchise in the early 2000s. Maybe because I am getting an itch to go and get more of these toys since I missed some as a kid or a good amount broke. I swear Cybertron toys broke so easily. But with that said there just something fun and different but not too different from this era that was just fun to grow up with. It had the classic Optimus Prime and Autobots vs. Megatron and Decepticons premise but brought in enough new elements to keep it from being stale.

Overrated: G1 - I know it's the original, and it doesn't bother me with most shows, but the animation was just awful. It was so inconsistent and while it yielded a few funny errors, it was overall just distracting and hard to follow.

RID 2015 - It just felt so safe and lazy as a continuation of TFP and for someone who'd grown up with TFP it was disappointing to see something immature follow on from it instead of something that kept the mature tone now its original audience was a bit older.

Beast Wars - Arguably the worst show I've seen, I couldn't even make it through the first season...

Underrated maybe) TFP - It may have ruined the aligned continuity and had a disappointing end but as someone who used it to get into Transformers I found it a good, well rounded show that's suitable for everyone because it's mature while still being family friendly and it's got maybe 1 or 2 filler episodes that didn't become relevant later, which I like because it means that nothing was just added in to fill air time.

 

Overrated:
86 movie - Animated
G1 isn't overrated, THE MOVIE is overrated
Animated because I tried to watch it but all of the characters look out of place, all of them, including the world itself, like watching a cartoon in drugs, it has some great characters like Blackarachnia and Sari and that's all

Beast Machines is a masterpiece, easily one of the best works of fiction ever made

Overrated: G1 The Movie

Overrated:
Armada- this show is flat out bad for about 30 episodes with the most insufferable humans of the franchise, terrible action, and a pace that made me want to fast forward through 60% of a lot of episodes. Despite this, there are several great characters and the show goes eventually pick up and become pretty good so I dont hate it but... definitely overrated.

Cyberverse- I actually quite like half of season 2 and season 3 but overall I just find the show quite rushed and underdeveloped with meh voice acting and animation. Overall I'd say the show is probably right in the middle in terms of quality and the people that praise it are kinda confusing to me.

Cybertron- I'll be honest, this show just bored me. I did not connect with any of the characters and the constant stock footage really got to me after a while. Maybe if the show was condensed to like 30 episodes and was more streamlined I'd like it more.

Underrated:

Rid2001- this show is a true g1 reboot to me. It's full of fun characters, solid voice acting, and great designs. I really liked all of the decepticons pretty much and the only real problems for me is a lot of the action is bleh and the kid got on my nerves sometimes, but he wasnt too bad.

Potp- I found myself oddly really enjoying this one and I dug megatron, rodimus unicronus, overlord, and megatronus (particuraly the stuff with solus). It's no where near perfect and I have my fair share of problems with it but I do think it's pretty entertaining and dosent deserve to be trashed as much as combiner wars.

Tlhat's pretty much my only underrated because I think beast wars/machines, g1, prime, and animated get the right amount of praise.

 

TFP is both overrated and underrated. The main fans of the show say it's the best, yet I feel like Animated is better. The same thing for the haters of the show, saying it is the worst. You may know what I think about it.

BM is a great TF show, and I enjoyed it more than I initially thought. It isn't a worthy sequel to BW, as the characters don't feel like their BW version, nor does the storytelling. The Maximal designs also suck. Those are the only two complaints I have.

I also enjoy RiD '01. It's entertaining. I don't care for the art style, though, and the dubbing is not the best. Then again, Armada had bigger problems with those two, and I still (kind of) enjoyed it.

I find Zone to be a bit overrated, as I don't find it to be a good ending.

Rescue Bots. I can't stand the kid but the rest of the family are likeable as are the Rescue Bots themselves, each are good characters and prove you don't need Bumblebee and Prime in every show.

Overrated: G1 especially Season 2
Animated. They portray the Transformers characters excellently but I find the human villains just so silly and undo all the good of the series for me.

 

FTFY Imo the unicron battles were also pretty bad they had some very small good moments scattered throughout the unicron but it was still crap until the last episode imo

Underrated:
Armada-The first seasons(?) aren't that bad, and the Unicorn arc is one of my favorite events in a TF show.
Cybertron-While the slow parts of this show are awful, when it's good, it's really good.
WFC Siege-The first four episodes were okay, but the last two were really good.

Overrated:
RiD 2015-The monster-of-the-week formula makes this show almost unwatchable to me. The episodes that connected to Prime were better, but most never really went anywhere and ended with things returning to the status quo. I also found Cyclonus really cringey and one-dimensional, and while his voice actor was good, it didn't fit the character. I found Energon more enjoyable to watch tbh.

Beast Wars season 1-I love Beast Wars, it's my favorite TF series, but I found the first season kind of boring and most of the episodes felt kind of filler-y. I also didn't like how Optimus Primal died and came back at the end of the series, since I'm not a big fan of characters dying and coming back.
