Is it inaccurate? Sure. But are there any transformer f-16s that have done better? Because that is a very difficult fighter design to make a robot from without compromising the design. This looks as good as any I can remember. They could choose to just slap the robot on the bottom, like usual, or alter the design. bit. I like this choice overall. I think the only other solution would be to not try to make it an f-16 at all, change a different jet that better accommodates robots. I'd be fine with that as well, but I suspect that would bother people who want these to be true to the alts of the original figures.

I do wonder if this gestalt will be able to maintain any dynamic position, like his arms supporting their own weight.

It looks more complicated than it does sturdy, but it’s a test shot so that’s probably not very fair.

The worst aspects, are the bits that still tend to end up as pure kibble. Their shape/size has little effect on overall looks for other modes, so why not make it look right in jet mode?

Yes David you have a point, but what about Astrotrain!? His mere existence is a SIN against space shuttles worldwide! :p

And not make me talk about MPM-10, I am still devastated by his ugly jet mode:cry

That's why I am happy that Berserk at least resembles a "Foxbat" or similar.

I have learned in this hobby the hard way that sometimes you have to settle for "good enough" when it comes to alt modes.

damn, both alt and bot modes look sweet. prob not getting the entire combiner set, but hope to get at least a couple individual figures from this set depending on final price and paint apps.

G1, ironically. Sure, it's a box with an F-16 on its back, but the tailfin looks right.
(tailplanes are too far forward, but the shape/size are about right).

It doesn't "look funny due to having a teeny tail". Even if you don't know an F-16, the tail looks off on most 3P ones because it's inherently small.

to me it’s close enough and I’m not too bothered by it, but it is still perfectly valid criticism, maybe they can make some improvements to make it more accurate

Your photo crops out the #1 issue I have with it.

I’m confused. The plane looks pretty close to an F-16..... I mean, I guess it’s a short tail fin, but at this point seems like nothing a 3p can make would satisfy plane enthusiasts.

I understand his frustration. It's similar to the issue with SS Blitzwing. It's just unrealistic. Imagine a car transformer with octogonal wheels. A seemingly small issue, but it completely breaks the believability of the figure as a real vehicle. Especially since the tail fins on this figure most likely fold up against the robot's legs or back, meaning that it would be entirely possible for it to be slightly larger and improve the look of the aircraft mode

Well, even as a non plane enthusiast SS blitzwing looks terrible. This jet looks like an actual jet, even if it’s straying off of the model. Idk. Hope it’s improved in whatever way there is to improve I guess.

I’d argue that a box about 2/3 again of the volume of the airplane proper underneath the jet is far less accurate and far more likely to impede flight than a tailfin a third too small. The top view of the G1 toy may be more accurate than this new one, but not the toy overall.

but hey, I get it you’re an aficionado. If you want alt accuracy to specific vehicles, that’s fine. Me, I know nothing about cars, airplanes, or vehicles in general. All I care about is that vehicle looks like it could be real in the modern world, and hides kibble pretty well. So I’m much more bothered by the jets with robot underneath, or with things like the shuttle in a box of Astrotrain’s shuttle mode than short tailfins. Overall (the almost impossible to avoid problem with Silverbolt notwithstanding), this is very close to an ideal mark for me.

Oh yeah this is worlds better than Blitzwing. But the small tail fins are an issue both figures share. These guys look awesome to me, just hope the jets can be tweaked a little

Honestly thats why they make transformers and they make model jets. Collect either or both.

"Thank you" for those 10 years of service in the Army!!

As far as the inaccuracies go, I agree. In the end, this is a triple changer trying to pull a lot off here, while trying to maintain an alt mode that leaves not much room to hide stuff. Plus, do you want a $100-110 limb bot (just guessing what this would could cost based on others) or a $200+ one?

You can't have it both ways.
