Overrated: Prime. It's probably even at ultimate overrated levels from how talked about it is, and having whopping 8.4M YouTube views on Bumblebee's "death scene" as of today which hardly makes it "underrated". But towards the quality of the show itself, I've already said why I don't like it in that Animated vs Prime thread.

Underrated: Armada. Even though it started kinda rocky: it switched up the personalities, the designs, far more than any TF media at the time. It had some meaningful character development towards the end when it started to get good, and had some powerful messages. Like, would anyone really believe you if you told them that Megatron out of all Transformers would sacrifice himself for the greater good? From that alone it's a shame it doesn't get more love or any homages in any newer TF series these days. But, I think the bigger shame belongs to the garbage sequel, Energon.

 

I get that complaint, but I guess I see RID2015 as more of a spinoff (or loose sequel) to Prime than a direct sequel.

 

Well I guess I had really big expectations for it it’s bad but it’s not energon or titans return levels of bad it has some great things like the cast, the finales , the starscream , the connection to prime ,and the pilot which was ok but I was really disappointed about how almost every episode is the same thing if I had low expectations Like how I did with cyberverse I probably would’ve enjoyed it a lot more

I really don't find Prime underrated. Sure, a lot of people in this site notice the glaring flaws it has, but everyone outside from this place just seems to love it unconditionally (which is one of the reasons why I sour towards it as time goes on, because everyone calls it a great series, and yet I don't see what's so good about it aside from a few characters like Knock Out, same with Animated, which I always found to be way too fanservicey and pretty weak in terms of writing a lot of the time). Siege is almost the same thing. A lot of people outside of these forums seem to praise it quite a bit, and yet, just looking at the trailers, I know I'm gonna bail out the same way I did with the Prime Wars Trilogy.

The only Transformers series that is hyped a lot and I really think it lives up to all those expectations is Beast Wars (at least, so far). Yes, there are flaws, but it still has some really solid writing and fun characters (except Silverbolt and Scorponok, who are actually my least favorite parts of the show).

The first two seasons of G1 and the 86 movie are quite overrated IMO, but the third and fourth seasons are always neglected and kinda bashed on mainly because of the animation. But honestly, for me, seasons three and four of G1 are the best part of the series. I felt it had the best written episodes (stuff like Ghost in the Machine, Dweller in the Depths, Rebirth and Burden Hardest to Bear are some of my favorite Transformers TV stories), it had the most interesting characters (except Springer, 'cause I always found Springer to be lame and superfluous) and there wasn't the sense of optimism that the first two seasons had (in fact, if you look at episodes like Dark Awakening, Ultimate Weapon, Quintesson Journal and Burden Hardest to Bear, there is a lot more of a downer tone in them that wasn't present in the first two seasons at all). It isn't perfect (Starscream's Ghost, Return of Optimus Prime, Only Human and especially Fight or Flee are episodes that make stuff like B.O.T. or Megatron's Master Plan look kinda good, at least to me).

As for RiD 2015, I haven't seen that many people that really praise it all that much aside from a few people around here. It really isn't overrated at all, it doesn't have the universal sort of praise that stuff like Animated and Prime have, and that may be a reason why I like the series more, because I don't hear people gushing endlessly about how great it is only to end up being sorely disappointed. Same with Cyberverse, it isn't a widely-praised series, so I didn't have that many expectations, and I was absolutely pleased. They are flawed series, but they have the advantage of simplicity and an innocence about them that I really feel we need more of in today's shows (instead of making bland shows that try to look epic and "mature" but end up being a disappointment). In fact, I know I've said this before, but the only TF show that I feel is truly mature is Beast Machines, because it didn't try to make everything look big and imposing... instead, it actually made you sit down and reflect on things and concepts that you never thought you would see on a cartoon. Stuff like Siege and TFP constantly try to shove the "I'm mature" attitude down your throat, and it's immediately noticeable (especially with all the dumb shortcuts and wastes of potential).

 

Overrated: Prime
Underated: cyber missions and zone

 

Overrated: Animated (Only hardcore Geewuners and Spongebob stoners love this show).

Underrated: Beast Wars (I mean come on, ever since the Bayverse people had slept on this. But it was revolutionary!).

 

Bruh, one, have you met a hardcore Geewunner? Two, I don't think you've really been around on these boards long enough to see how much people love Beast Wars, and how excited everyone is that Kingdom is releasing.

 

Over 20 years of watching transformers the answer is a resounding yes.

Clearly you haven't met hardcore Geewunners if you think they're the only people who would watch Animated. In fact they're the least likely to watch it.

In case you haven't noticed the Animated board is pretty much dead. Previous cartoons had their own dedicated boards before they were locked; Animated was the last one, but they forgot to lock it.

Also, if you want to see just how many people love Beast Wars, visit the toy related subforum.

You're new (and a troll) but mostly new, so how about you lurk a while longer and see just how wrong you are. Hardcore Geewunners have a hard-on for bashing literally everything that isn't Geewun, while everyone else enjoys Beast Wars.

 

Overrated: Prime (seriously, some people treat it like it's God's gift to animation), Beast Wars, G1 S2.

Underrated: G1 S3, Zone, Victory, and Beast Wars II

 

I only disagree with g1 s2 for overrated, Those guys rarely get toys, G1 s1 is the one with Characters getting toys all year round.

 

Not talking toys, just the show. I still see lots of love for the season when I personally find it greatly inferior to season 1 or 3.

 

Beast Machines is possibly the single most under-rated TF thing ever given how excellent its story is and how utterly loathed it is by most TF fans.

This comment makes you sound extremely misinformed and unintelligent, not gonna lie. Aside from the fact that G1 fans' initial hatred of TFA is well documented, "Spongebob stoners" is just a ridiculous and nonsensical thing to say. I'm not even sure what it means, but it doesn't make you sound like you have a particularly good point if that's the best way you can describe it.

Ah yes, under-rated Beast Wars, with its MP releases and entire anniversary year devoted to its return, and that pesky ol' stigma of the best Transformers cartoon ever among fans. I'm sure most fans never even heard of it.  

Animated has a dedicated board because back when TF shows aired that's how TFW worked, the current show had its own forum for discussion the same way the movies did. However years ago during one of TFW's many format changes it was decided to simply rename the current cartoon forum, (which is why it's called Cyberverse and cartoon discussion now, before it was RID, and before that it was Prime) rather than replace it outright. Beast Wars aired well before TFW even existed, so that's why it doesn't have its own forum. In fact the TFA forum was hidden for years until the reformatting brought it back as a subforum just because that's how the forum software handled it, it didn't get special treatment, it was just the last before the change in format happened.

 

Although I have openly expressed my dislike for TFA, this particular guy is way too harsh if he refers to its fans that way. It's one thing to have a dislike for a show, but to treat fans like that is just wrong.

 

Underrated: Beast Machines. The best TF show we are ever going to get.
Overrated: Prime. Several people on these boards have elaborated on this topic but seeing all the praise it gets off these boards you'd think it was a masterpiece of animation.
