Wow, I never really thought how Brexit affected tariffs. I too got my UW Devy for the sane price as original retail Hasbro version. Then it went on sale to 99 bucks. Hell, so was Generations Metroplex! In retrospect it was the beginning of sharp increases overall over time, not that long ago.

I was in BC when it came out, and they retailed at Walmart for 99 CDN. That was after the priced drop, of course. The highest I saw them for was 150 when they first came out...I know because I bought one at that orice, and exchanged it when it dropped to 99. ****EDIT: I had to check my receipts, lol, and you are correct: the first preorder price from Toys R Us was indeed 180 CDN. But the 99 dollar drop was at Walmart. And I double checked how much I paid for UW Devy, 185 CDN, shipped from overseas, for a total of 210 CDN. It made me feel better to think I didn't pay much more for UW Devy than the first price for Hasbro's Devy, lol, but I don't regret paying more.

And you're right...the G1 reissue was 80 bucks, a crazy amount considering how much toy we had with CW Devy! Don't think I didn't ponder that while I strolled through the self checkout, lol...in fact, I got the import Encore Anime Devastator for less than the reissue, and that included shipping from overseas! ****EDIT, dang! I'm getting old! Reissue Devy was about 104 CDN shipped after tax, but I could have sworn I got mine for less. I bought one for some family and the online price was higher, but that's what I paid.

I have the UW version of the toy and I'm really happy with it. A shame it's a reissue of the CW version instead as I feel this far in the game Hasbro could have just released the UW version either straight as it was or as a special edition. But that aside it IS nice that people who missed out can experience because overall it's still a very nice looking set of bots and Devastator mode is just so nice in person.

Yes, but TakaraTOMY also remoulded the Constructicons to ensure that all of them have basic articulation of elbows and knees and included individual weapons for each of them, gave Devastator a new head that can open and close his visor, and of course better paint applications.

Everything else is a definite improvement and I will not buy the CW one but the better paint is subjective.

Was the SDCC Dev, the takara tomy model with chrome paint, or was it chrome paint only on the CW version.

Chrome paint Combiner Wars version. Not sure if the UW version was even released by that point.

Do we know for certain this is the CW version?

The times when Hasbro reissued a Takara deco or tooling (25th Arcee, Clones 2 pack, the new Headmasters), they identify it as a reissue from (insert Hasbro line here) and don't necessarily mention the Takara version at all.

From a practical standpoint, if it is a use of the Takara molds, wouldn't Hasbro still identify it as a Combiner Wars reissue? They don't often reference Japanese toylines or continuity publicly or even acknowledge it as existing, even when they borrow from it.

Heck, Hasbro overseen uses of Star Saber and so on are essentially wholly original takes with no roots in the anime or toy bios.

There's two different things. One is a boxset of the Bayverse Devastator, which is considered "new," the other is the CW reissue.

I am hoping they re-release PE-06. That's going for crazy money when it pops up on eBay.

Ooooh boy. Miscommunication and misinformation galore.

    Long story short:

This is the most accurate statement in this bizarre conversation. There are two Devastator box sets being (re)released. One is supposed to be a straight reissue of Hasbro's Combiner Wars Devastator that is exclusive to Amazon. The other is a box set collection of Studio Series Devastator with slightly different paint operations that is going to be available from pretty much every online venue you can think of.

Hasbro usually does not identify any of these as "reissues of X". They're redecoes that are released in different packaging as part of different subsets.

The official product copy for the "Retro Headmasters" doesn't acknowledge "Titans Return" at all. Hasbro is presenting them as being "inspired by original G1 design". Likewise, the official product copy for the Galactic Odyssey Biosfera Autobot Clones doesn't mention "Titans Return" either. You are claiming Hasbro are doing something which they aren't.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Combiner Wars Devastator is supposed to be a straight reissue in unaltered or barely altered packaging. Simply a new production run. Those are two different things. Fans just conflate them all under the "reissue" umbrella because they assume everyone knows what they're talking about.

What? No. The official product copy for the Transformers: Prime 10th Anniversary figures explicitly points out how they were "a limited release figure in Japan in 2012".

I don't even understand what this is supposed to mean, or has to do with anything related to this topic.

No, as Rodimus Prime pointed out, those are two different things.

    Yes.

That is a different Ozformers story.

Ozformers story on the Combiner Wars Devastator reissue
Ozformers story on the Studio Series Devastator box set

Once again, there are two different Devastator box sets coming out. A straight reissue/new production run of Combiner Wars Devastator, and a box set collection of Studio Series Devastator with slightly altered paint operations compared to the single releases. Both of these were reported by Ozformers at different times. Some people are seemingly incapable of processing the concept of two different Devastator box sets reported by the same source and therefore assume that one must have been mistaken for the other.

So would it be reasonable to assume CW Devastator would be sold at the modern Titan pricepoint? Is there any reason to think it'd be more?

I see no point in giving fans more of the lesser version of Combiner Wars Devastator. The Unite Warriors version is easily the preferred version - use it.

There are two different Devastators, being released very close to each other, which makes it annoyingly confusing... but kinda unavoidable, as they probably wanted the boxset of the ROTF Movie Devastator out for Christmas (being a very expensive set), while the Combiner Wars Devastator needs to be out for the set of 1986 Movie homages that we are getting at the moment (across several different series at the same time, including Earthrise, Kingdom, Studio Series, this Combiner Wars reissue, and of course Unicron).

This is what I was sent several months ago, which are Hasbro's own product codes... along with some other details that I haven't included here.

    B0998 TRA GENERATIONS DEVASTATOR
    E7301 Studio Series Devastator

The product code for the Generations Devastator is the same as the Combiner Wars release. (it would have been nicer to have the Japanese version released instead, but maybe Hasbro wasn't able to release it, or didn't want to spend extra money on redoing the instructions and packaging to match)
