Does anyone know if there's Toyworld staff monitoring this thread? Would be nice to collectively prod them to do another production run for those of us that need a set of green thighs.

Hey guys,

So for a long time I've wanted to have a different head for Constructor...I do like the Cobra head, but it is really Studio Ox and I personally find the Toon head "too toon for the body"....so I attempted to design something in between these two worlds.

I finally got a 3D printer (since ~2011 I've been outsouring everything to Shapeways) so this is my 3rd print off this machine...I did a test print, a part of a ratchet and now THIS (admittedly still lots to learn):



The sculpt is largely based on the head I designed for GI Eddie's Bruderstator, but proportions and face sculpt are slightly changed. Totally different head mechanism because Bruderstator's head is huge. I aimed for as much posability as possible without looking too much like a Giraffe...including quizical tilting (nod to BenCollectables).

I might actually increase the brim a bit.

Wow, thanks guys. Hopefully it looks ok painted, that will be tricky as the surface quality is akin to a log cabin, lolzzz (c'mon fillter primer!)

 

That aesthetic is the perfect middle ground for that set! TW did go too toony. For a factory head, I think Generation Toys nailed it.

So I know you have the files.. do you plan to do a clear visor, lit up version?

 

Definitely interested in seeing it painted. Looks really good so far!

Since you are in deep already, remove the #$^*(#@*)@#U( goatee....I HATE (cant stress enough) the fact that they put a f@@@@g goatee to every single instance of free space they found in g1 faces...

 

To be fair, the odd cartoon face with actual eyes did in fact have a little dropped shape to the chin, so I suppose it kind of homages that?

 

Megatron and Galvatron style? Sure, but not every single bot m8.

It's a "Maybe". The sculpt is a 'branch' of Bruder prior to splittling it all up for the visor, etc...so all that would need to be re-done, especially to be mechanically sound for the smaller scale, but that may actually be easier to do than Bruderstator. That said, I'm not sure--can these type of 3D printers do clear or clear-ish? I'll have to shop around and see if they have the right filament...

Lolzzz...it's probably going to be ugly...you see my design is a bit of cheat--the mouth sculpt actually isn't that great and goatee kinda hides/directs attention away from it.  

 

It looks good overall, but my first thought is that I feel it is too tall and skinny. I feel like it would be better if it was either shorter or wider, though I'm not sure which would be best.

 

That head looks awesome! I'll admit, I've never really thought much of the ToyWorld Constructor. It's never looked all that great. Seeing this, it seems that the main thing I've disliked about this thing is the head. The head you did looks way better, and it's an unpainted one. Nice work!
