What, in you guys opinion is the best modern version of Galvatron? 3rd party included.
I hate that they made non-headmaster characters into headmasters. So the titans return version is not an option.
So what's the best one that would be approximately the same height and similar to the PotP Rodimus Prime?
    Thoughts?

I would say big canon he’s pretty big I’m not sure how well he’ll scale with potp rodimus but he’s about the same height as mp 10 probably a bit taller and the great thing is that he’s only about $40

If you can find one at a reasonable price, Unique Toy's Mania King was the definitive Galvatron at that size for a lot of people for a while. The second release had better colors. But this goes back maybe 10 years, no idea how hard he is to find now or how expensive. Also, not positive if he's the correct size or a little small (he was voyager size back then).

There are some better 3P MP's now, but I think those are bigger than it sounds like you want.

Fans Toys Sovereign is for sure the best Galvatron ever made, but he's not gonna look right alongside POTP Rodimus Prime.

I like @harrismonkey's Mania King suggestion. It's highly stylized in a way that might look a bit odd next to POTP Rodimus, but I think it would basically work, and it's a great toy in general.

Oh, also: Doesn't the Kingdom artwork heavily tease that we'll be getting a Galvatron in that line soon? Between that and the 86 movie studio series, you might be better off just waiting if you're specifically looking for a CHUG Galvatron.

As Potp rodimus (assuming combined mode) is a leader size figure (old leader standard not the earthrise one) big cannon would be a good fit. Dx9 tyrant may be ok too

I’m looking forward to this one, but it will probably be the “new” leader class height which won’t scale well with POTP rodimus

Soverign kinda became everyone's default in the mp space. He is bland though with that usual FT awkwardness and the excessive diecast makes him a bit of a chore to own.

I'm personally waiting and hoping for mmc to either do a studioOX or Idw version. I don't care which just anything that isn't another bog standard g1 toon design.

I have 2 answers for best Galvatron.

    MakeToys: Maniaking for CHUG aesthetic

    FT: Sovereign. for MP aesthetic

I owned both. they were the best interpretations of Galvatron ever made to date.

Thanks for all the information. They're all pretty cool. I like FT Sovereign the best. But if you guys think there might be a new one coming soon, I'll bide my time.

Mania King is indeed awesome. Not 100% perfect (if only they'd found a way to fully hide the head in cannon mode). But so, so good.

That said, rumor has it that Kingdom and Studio Series are partnering up to give us both a new Galvatron and a new Rodimus Prime to go with those sexy AF Hot Rod, Cyclonus and Scourge toys we've already seen.

I'm hoping (with all the long forgotten power of a small child at Christmas) that this will be the official Galvatron that is finally worthy of the name. Come on HasTak, don't let me down!

There is definitelily a new CHUG Galvatron coming soon. We’ve got Cyclones in Kingdom and Scourge in SS 86. I’d hold off until then, especially since those two look amazing. I think we’ll get an awesome Galvatron sometime next year.

Since I found all the specs, I'll post heights in case anyone else has the same question down the road.

    PotP Rodimus Prime
    • 9 inch (22.86cm) scale
    44ccc00f-0357-4f36-845d-dc572182786e.jpg

    FT Sovereign = 9.6 inches (24.5cm)
    913ef6c3-40c0-4955-b3dd-6f0cf04b9e52.jpg

    OP-02 Big Cannon =
    • 9.45 inches (24cm)
    c443aecd-6f99-498f-b1a3-b3359b917746.jpg

Mania King stands over 7" tall.

    UQT10007_i.jpg

    Dx9 Tyrant
    • Robot mode height 10 inches (25.5 cm) 6bc5a831-f9c6-4064-aa2b-1ec92cf8e74e.jpg

For me Sovereign is the clear cut winner (just my personal taste) but far too expensive. Thanks for all the feedback. I'll keep my fingers crossed for that new one.

As of right now, Sovereign is the best choice for an MP Galvatron. Big Cannon (essentially an embiggened, improved, and de-headmastered Titans Return Galvatron) is the best choice for a Galvatron that scales with PotP Rodimus Prime. But, PotP Rodimus is too big for the current Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom figures, and Mania King is the best Galvatron that does scale with them. Also, a Leader-class Galvatron and a Commander-class Rodimus Prime have been rumored for Kingdom.

I take it back, I wasn't thinking of the right Rodimus. Mania King is too small (unless you like/want midget Galvatron).

Everybody is saying FT. I have and like FT. I also have the DX-9. For what ever reason I actually like DX-9's better. He's less toon accurate and doesn't have the beautiful finish of FT's (it really is NICE), but to my eyes he just looks bigger, meaner and more menacing- qualities Galvatron absolutely needs. So absolutely see what Hastak turns out. But because FT's is so sought after and so expensive- there is a pretty good chance you could get a DX-9 at a comparative steal. Give him a good look before dismissing him.

Maniaking has served me, for years as the best chug Galvy, curling arms and all. He'll probably be dethroned by a StudioSeries/Kingdom one. But until then, long live Maniaking!

FT Sovereign for robot mode and DX9 Tyrant for cannon mode.
