Been a great week for new figures. Luckily the next month is going ease up considerably. Just looking forward to Smokey now to close out 2020.

 

The first thing I thought of when I saw this shot.

Where is that blast effect from that fits so snugly into Thomas' gun, as I know it didn't come with him.

 

Initial premium blast effects that came with NA Hynkel/Agamemnon. Received both the same day and one happend to fit just fine. Not super secure but will hold on display no problem.

Astrotrain, Starscream, and Thrust tangle with Jazz, Perceptor, and Cosmos... but Cosmos is not too happy to see Astrotrain again.

I have a very important question.

What are your upgrade plans for that (YM/KBB?) Starscream and possibly those (TW?) Coneheads?

I have absolutely no upgrade plans for my Seekers/Coneheads... though I wish I would've grabbed a YM or KBB Skywarp when I had the chance.

With the V.3 Starscream costing north of $250.00... (Has/Tak mislabeled their upcoming Starscream release as V.2... they must've forgotten that they released an MP-3 and an MP-11), and the fact that it looks dramatically different than nearly all of my MP/3P figures... if I started down that rabbit hole, I wouldn't be able to stop with the upcoming Starscream release.


Takara MP-3 = V.1
KBB MP-11 (in my case a KO) = V.2

But the notion of spending $1600.00 on three updated seekers and coneheads leaves me nauseous.

So.. I'm probably just going to sit back and enjoy other people's photos.

Besides, despite their limitations, I still enjoy my present seekers and coneheads very much!




If there was ever a set of figures I wanted to stash some dough aside for, it would be some Tetra-Jet Rainmakers, preferably with bot-modes looking very close to the MP-11 designs.

The Maas figures were interesting... but neither alt-mode and bot-mode were quite nailing it.



And I'm sure it would be no small feat... but I would definitely set my hard earned cash aside for some convincing 3P/MP Tetra-Jet Rainmakers!!

Until then...



Now in my humble opinion, these guys mesh fairly well with most S1/S2 3P and MP figures in circulation... up until maybe MP-44 and 45.

I think these six fit right in with older MP and 3P figures like KFC's Ditka, the ToyWorld Constructor figures, Cloud9 Quakeblast, etc.



But newer releases by FansToys, like FT Thomas, FT Brawn.. they might mesh better with the updated Has/Tak Seekers.




And since I'm not looking to purchase new versions of... well... EVERYONE... I will likely sit back and enjoy seeing other fan photos!!



But June of 2021 us a long way off... I could change my mind... maybe?? Who knows?

 

Not exactly. MP-11 was a retool of MP-03, hence not being called "2.0" and instead was given the "New Emperor of Destruction" moniker. Meanwhile MP-52 is obviously a brand new mold, so 2.0 in his case makes perfect sense.

 

It's true... even through the MP-11 mold had redesigned new arms, new legs, a completely new head, and new wings... all for an updated bot-mode... the MP-52 release looks like a completely different design and figure.

I never knew his moniker was "New Emperor of Destruction". Guess that's why Infinite Transformation named their KO of Megatron "Emperor of Destruction"?



Seeing how ol' MP-36 has these protruding side-skirts at the waste, and a completely exposed/unfinished back... I'd imagine Has/Tak might be making a V.3 of Megatron that will look even more toon-centric... in a couple of years.

I'm kinda surprised they never updated their MP-8 Grimlock. Though it's hard to compete with FansToys!







After seeing Has/Tak Starscream V.3... I'd imagine that their versions of a Masterpiece Dinobots would have significantly less texture and detailing.

And while there's a market for that... it simply isn't me.

But THIS is!!

Sorry to repost the same collection without much change, but I finally managed to get hold of a billy bookcase in all this pandemic craziness so can finally start displaying them as I want!


Just need the glass shelves and doors.....whenever they come back into stock...

Lots of space for more legends too. Which is good cos thanks to Necrobot I think I'll need a set of dinobots now as well  

 

Ahhh! I agree the price for SS3.0 is f'ing absurd, and it seems you can no longer buy them from amazon.jp. I saved quite a bit buying my MPs directly from them. Their shipping was even better than here in the US lol.

I was mostly asking because I seem to get caught up in all the thrill of new-now-next when it comes to these characters, and I was curious about how you dealt with it. I can enjoy multiple versions of a figure, but I have a bunch of stuff that I'd gladly part with... so long as I didn't have to go through the bother of shipping

If I didn't already own DacaToys Kronos, I would be all over that Seige Jetfire. Hey does he have a retractable energy blade like in the Netflix show?

As for the Iron Dibots... even though their quite a few years old... they aged well in my opinion.

But I think most of them are outta print. So, let the eBay hunting begin!

Unless you were thinking of those DX9 legends scale Dinobots. I think they were reissued a couple months ago. They should still be available at some online retailers.

You might also be interested in a side of Constructor, to go with yer Dinobots.

I never thought to order from Amazon.jp. I guess I wasnt sure if they'd ship to the states. But I probably should've known better.

As for how I deal... I have been on a budget since a few years ago when shit got outta hand. My wife and I were spending way more thsn we should have been for months and were wondering where the money was going.

It's simple math! Duh!

I remember we "accidentally" spent a shitload of money in a few record stores, went out to eat way too much, and then we were always going to see some band play... and were basically living like we were high-rollers, when we are really just lowly bottom dwellers.

It had to stop... or at least be curtailed.

So we agreed to give each of us $50 a week, like it's our allowance. It actually helped me to discipline myself... and avoid collection-creep.

I also quit comics a few years ago when the habit was becoming another car payment.

After a while, you get good at putting stuff out of your mind... and with respect to the new seekers, well... it's especially easier if you already have an adequate version of a figure.

For example, by rights I should have sought out FT Phoenix years ago.

But despite his shortcomings, I was happy enough with my Daca Kronos that I never succumbed to the beautiful images of Phoenix.




The fact is though... that today the longevity of my access to income is in question. I have no idea how much longer I will remain employed... and with Covid-19 causing down-turns everywhere, reality serves as a very sobering element.

So as far as collecting goes, I am trying to keep enough budget in the coffers for XTB Gravestone's trailer. I really want to build a Menasor!

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I may not be able to own XTB Virtus or Locke when they are released.

I can deal with that because every S3 figure I own is really my own collection-creep... But I do wish someone with 3D printing or resin casting abilities would make a better face for my O&P Big Spring.

Clearly, I have failed to fix his face.



As far as outside TF collection-creep goes... I really hope I don't find out that there's a wave of "The Boys" 1:6 figures, or Mafex/Figuarts. Because I do have some weaknesses... and THAT would be something I couldn't resist.
