So, in my quest to more weird repaints, I have another strange mission. I want to create a new Omega Lock using weirdly colored Cyber Keys. So far I know of Countdown’s Key for Earth.


Leo Prime’s Key for Animatron.


And Heavy Load’s Key for Gigantion.


Does anybody know of a weirdly colored key for Velocitron? Or perhaps more weirdly colored keys?

 

Clocker, from the 2007 Movie line. Sadly, it's unpainted in the details.

 

I like it the way it is, though being unpainted is not a big problem for me.

For those wondering: Armada Bug and Micron Legend Bug seem identical, the eye paint difference might be just QC.
From left to right:

The Wreckloose and Backstop releases from several years back, the repaints on the red Generations 2010 style cards, also have clear blue Jungle Planet keys.

Dark Nitro Convoy has this smokey colored Velocitron chip with the gold paint and chrome on the border/inner symbol.

TLK Primus has an all clear blue cyber key.

Botcon 2014 provided a couple new decos with Apelinq's chromed out key and Primal Prime's all clear orange (unless someone painted it) one.

Two of the most beautiful versions are the Galaxy Force Mystery Force Chip and Ignition Prize Force Chip. Mystery chip is the usual clear green Animatros one with a gunmetal painted border and blue chromed symbol. Ignition Prize is an Earth chip with metallic red paint.

There are a few more I can't remember off hand, a whole bunch of wacky keys out there!

 

The Bruticus repaint of Scourge has a clear purple Beast key, Dropshot has a smokey brown clear Earth key and the movie repaint of Hardtop came a Sector 7 key.

Speaking of the Generations UT guys, these are my only two UT figs. In my mind they're honorary Transmetal 2s.

 

Cybertron Ransack has a borderless Key with silver on the inner symbol if that helps. The GF release was normal though.

The Cybertron Beastformers were pretty slick sculpt-wise. I could’ve taken a whole line in that style.

 

Nothing, the DVD version of the Race Team goes well with... nothing. Too much toothpaste.

 

Hogging all the Mini-Cons like a good Armada Megatron should. It's too bad Megs can't hold anything properly in his left hand, I tried for ages to get the Skyboom Shield to sit in there with his knife helping a little but I always end up using the Mini-Con port instead. His left claw hand is really cool though.

Have you got Super Link Overdrive, he's teal, or else it may look good with Sixshot seeing as you like colour matching.

 

When I was a kid I would always use Megatron as a Mini-con base, with Demolishor as a gun turret. The gimmicks may have hurt posability but they made them so fun to play with.

I would really love a updated Red Alert with better proportions, but I still love the original. It's just a really good design with awesome detail and one of the best alt modes of the era IMO. I also need to rebuy Armada Starscream as I modified mine for more posability but would like a nice "stock" one. Maybe I'll get Thundercracker/Starscream Super. There's a design that needs a proper, Voyager update. I hated the pitiful, cheap T30 deluxe that changed all the detail to be less dynamic.

Yeah so I just got the Golden Armada Optimus for $25. Missing his smokestacks and gun.

 

Best bargain I have seen in a long while. Well done!



IN other news... Universe Hot Shot was the final TF I bought when I stopped collecting in 2008. I opened it, checked it out and prepared it together with my collection for storage on the same day.
I can see why it never left me any other memory.

This mold is terrible. The original Armada Hot Shot mold gave us:

- vehicle mode chainsaws, activated by pressing the detachable engine
- minicon integration, with Jolt being an excellent minicon by itself
- the engine can detach and become a gun for the minicon
- in the Japanese version, LED to light up the Star Saber
- pop-up bazooka with firing missile
- decent leg articulation
- no waist turn
- no neck articulation
- limited shoulder articulation

this remake gives us:

- vehicle mode, with no gimmicks or detachable engine
- minicon integration, with Jolt attaching... by friction, and NOT with a minicon port!
- the Japanese version is still in transit, but I suspect no LED will be found
- no pop-up bazooka or anything remotely minicon activated
- decent leg articulation, but mostly the same as 8 years before
- no waist turn, as 8 years before
- decent neck articulation, yeah!
- limited shoulder articulation... almost worse as 8 years before.

As TFCC Dion should be... what? Dion? It looks like some random paint job leveraging the name of an obscure character.

The minicon, Jolt, used to be one of the best from the whole Unicron Trilogy. Universe Jolt is made of the same cheap plastic of Universe Hot Shot, but even worse. It feels like a KO.

This mold is genuinely one of the worse I have ever come across. I can't even imagine how it made it to the approval stage - it's a parody of what it should have been.

 

That is one cool find!

But, while I know they are probably packed by people who have not a clue what they are... But... Wow... LOL They split Tidal Wave up by thirds. Imagine if somebody had bought just the arms or something. You now have an armless robot. At least with Optimus's cab, you still have a fully functional robot mode.

However, it's still a cool find!
