This argument only ever seems to come up with regards to G1. No one argues when other iterations of Transformers are accurate to the source material but for G1 it's an outrage and the death of MP/Takara/life. The MP line has been focused on show accuracy for well over half a decade now but people can't seem to accept it.

 

I think its due to every show after being based off the toys as if its some sort of apology from Hasbro abou the G1 toys

 

I\'ll admit this is a spot on cartoon Starscream with the odd proportions. Not for me but may be for theeeeeeeeee.

At this rate, the only thing that will bring me back to the MP line would be Jazz or maybe Galvatron.

EDIT: Weird that the wings split open to hide the tail fins in bot mode. Seems over-engineered, and not worth the extra cost / parts count.

 

The way TT have started tapering and bending surfaces to make bot modes both more toon accurate and more dynamic looking is amazing. There's just something so "soft" about the lines that is so satisfying to my 80s-i-fied brain lol. Also, the lack of waist articulation would normally bug me, but then I realized...

... when do we ever see him pivot his waist in the cartoon? He moves his whole upper body like a tank when he turns. At most, ab crunch, which it looks like he might have some form of. So I'm cool with this personally.

 

The only one so far that actually has that issue (sometimes) is MP-28 Hot Rod.

 

So from the official photos, it does not seem like this guy has a waist swivel?

 

As they haven't shown it off yet in all their extensive poses, it's not looking likely.
