Eh, not sure how I feel about that. I'd rather it be more just Spider-man focused like the first 2 were.
I'm sure it'll strike the same balance that Homecoming did using Iron Man - a Peter Parker story first and foremost, but one that overlaps with the other character.
I feel like Doctor Strange will be used to "clear" Peter's name. Maybe a spell will make it so everyone forgets his identity. Perhaps with Doctor Strange in the movie, there will be a multiverse. But I'd rather have that idea for later on.
I feel that might be the case, I mean it was how they explained Peter’s identity becoming secret once more in the comics following the ever so infamous One More Day. Doctor Strange played a part in how they got that genie back in the bottle.
Why do I get a strange feeling that Dr. Strange might be used to have Peter go to a different but similar universe where he would be out of the MCU and in a new Sony universe. I know on contract Spider-Man has one more “Avengers” movie.
That's kind of what I'm thinking myself. Or at any rate, that Strange is coming in to help wrap up Spidey's involvement in the MCU.
Part of me wishes they'd just keep the Spider-Man movies small-scale and not get too into all the multiverse stuff (outside of the Spider-Verse animated movies). I like how those are treated more like high-school comedies than big team-up movies. On the other hand, Doctor Strange is probably my favorite Avenger, so I'm always up for more of him.
Marvel's had a good run of hat-tricks at least. Iron Man 3 being the most controversial of the lot, because while it was very well received critically, it wasn't a great Iron Man movie. But Thor 3 was of course the incredibly popular and critically acclaimed Ragnarok, Captain America gave us Civil War, and Avengers had Infinity War.
I'm also hoping Spiderman leaves the MCU and go into Sony's universe cause MCU Spidey sucks, and maybe introduce the real MJ with red hair.
Awesome! Dr. Strange had a supporting role in the 90s animated cartoon also. That's the only source I knew the character from before the MCU. I think this'll be great.
Well with dr strange i guess that ties to as2 electro. Wonder if wandavision, endgame, and spider-verse events broke holes in the multiverse and they will be popping up here and there in the films as a side plot. (that may be why kang is hinted for ant-man 3.) Wonder if the fantastic four will be tied to this?
NYC is almost like a secondary character in Spiderman Comics. Whether it is him working at the Bugle, swinging from tall NYC buildings, or fighting with an NYC Mobster like the Kingpin. The other movies have been in other locales. Homecoming went to D.C. or the far outskirts of the city (Yeah, Coney Island is NYC, but it isn't quite the same), Far From Home was in Europe. Also, both MCU Spider-Man movies are heavily influenced by the mentorship of Stark, and now they will do the same with Strange? I just find it odd 3 movies in and they have no interest? Parker as a character can't stand on his own?
He can, but let's be fair, in the comics Parker was striving to be a member of the Fantastic Four early on, so it's not like even his early stuff was always him being alone. I mean, there are even issues where another Marvel character just randomly shows up to save the day and gets all of the praise while Spider-Man gets ignored.
Raimi did all that already. I love that they're leaning in to shared universe Spidey. His hero worship of the other heroes is a big part of who he is. He's not the "everyman hero" without the contrast.
