that is truly amazing, I personally love seeing fans recreating figures that never made it through the prototype stage
Thanks for all the kind words! I really appreciate it. I’ve just finished Day one of painting Arcee and tomorrow I’ll clean the lines up a little bit and get a matte spray to de gloss her a little. But the colours are now on. Strangely the bathroom has the most even lighting for the shoot, and showed her off in the best light. Her with her alternate pair of ‘Leia hands’ and finally here she stands with her 86 crew. Needs some cleaning up to do and some sanding again in places but she’s almost there and it’s exciting to see her finally with colour. Fits in nicely with the growing G1 styled 86 movie crew. And those who said the prototype was ugly, here she is standing next to G1 Springer. Poor Springer, I think he’s a little more uglier. MORE PICS
I'd kill for a G1 Impactor designed like a Dorvak toy. Feels like him having comparable engineering to Roadbuster and Whirl would be a neat design.
Sounds like a fun project to work on in the near future. His early comic designs lends himself to the blocky nature of toys like Roadbuster and I’m sure it’ll make a nice line up!
"" I have made a short video review of G1 Arcee, and after fixing the unfortunate paint rub as seen in the video, I'm finally happy to call her done. She is available now on Cults3D for those who are interested, and as the client and I agreed, it's only fair for the files to be available for the price he paid for her. As you wish! Made a G1 Daniel in Exosuit figure last night so this morning I shrunk him down, and made him a Headmaster. Made a neck adapter and it fits in so nicely! This is my first 3D designed Headmaster and it's a fun and quick print! I now have a replacement base frame in case I want a full Headmaster Arcee printed in the future!
Damn this is a truly amassing creation. The detail and accuracy is immaculate. You’ve done so well here.
You did a commission for an entire transforming figure for $32?! Holy crap. I will take note of who to call when I want a figure designed.
It was $25 and I listed that on Cults3D. I don’t know why they’ve marked up the prices sometimes but it’s constantly changing as well. It also depends on how long I think it’ll take and all that but I try to keep it low. Cheers!
Arcee is also now a Headmaster, not like the one above, but one who can actually connect to G1 headmaster ports to recreate the concept back then where Arcee would be a repaint of Chromedome. I got a headless Chromedome off eBay recently, after I designed a Chromedome headmaster from it, I continued to modify the Arcee Exosuit design to make it compatible with this Chromedome body. As I didn’t have any headmasters, Chromedome would be the first one so I was grateful for the Monzo headmaster design on Thingiverse for I could then reference it in terms of size and the length of the tabs. Transformers HeadMaster Monzo - WeirdWolf's Trainer by Tempy111 I opted to use pins in this design because of the nature of my resin printer. I also think the G1 original ones had pins in their headmasters too so I think this is better for me. The stats I had fun deciding what to put, I went for a 10 in speed and intelligent and half way up for strength. When I received Chromedome I was delighted that she fit on the port so nicely. I guess it really shows how good the Thingiverse model by Tempy111 is in terms of recreating the original.
You mean repainting the Chromedome body into Pink and white? In that case, not really. I just got the toy off eBay for cheap and I’ve always wanted a G1 Chromedome or even a headmaster. I’ve printed and painted Chromedome a head and I think I’ll leave the toy as Chromedome. I think the concept for that toy was just a repaint with a new head?
Cheers! I do like them both as is. Maybe in the future I’ll get an extra Chromedome for that purpose when I get more into Headmasters.
I can't wait for someone to paint one of these up in pink and white (movie scheme). I get the appeal of the prototype colors; it's just what I would want more.
Some point in the commission I did make her into the movie colours because I was curious what she would look like. She looks pretty nice but I’ve seen the prototype colours for such a long time I wanted the orange and pink one instead. When I get a shelf I might print and paint another one in that scheme. I really like the white and pink colour scheme for Arcee too!
This looks awesome! And it’s a bit of a thought provoker. Why didn’t Hasbro just repurpose Blurr into Arcee, like how they repurposed Kup and Wheelie into Dion and Orion Pax?
