Erm... I am pondering how the hell, given how the COVID is going in America, a new live-action film is going to make their stated release date.

Also, none of the live-action projects have a director, a cast or a confirmed screenwriter attached to them yet - so how the actual hell will either of them be released in 18 months?

    Most likely, yeah.

However, I ask again - COVID aside, none of the live-action projects have a director, a cast or a confirmed screenwriter attached to them yet - so how the actual hell will either of them be released in 18 months?

The Bumblebee universe sequel and Beast Wars have screenwriters attached to them already. Not saying that helps them release it on time however.

But no director and no cast - usually they have a director and a cast before they start shooting.

With the COVID situation in the US, I can't see any blockbuster live-action film being able to shoot a single frame in America before the middle of next year, which will push them back quite significantly.

Are you sure this movie is not the one directed by Josh Cooler?

And if it's a brand new movie (not Bumblebee 2, not beast wars) then they are being handled very bad with the movie universe.

They very well might know already. Maybe they just haven't announced it.

Bay wasn't announced as director of TLK until January 2016 (if I recall correctly). Cast announcements didn't start to come out until several months later (just a couple months before shooting). They still have plenty of time to get all that figured out and make announcements.

The movie will probably film during summer 2021 (which is the middle of next year) and release summer 2022. That's what TLK did. They filmed it during summer 2016 and the movie released summer 2017. In fact, I think every Transformers movie has been filmed a year before release, except Bumblebee. And Bumblebee initially had the same schedule before they pushed it back for story changes (which seem to be related to TLK flopping, not because they didn't give themselves enough time). A year between shooting and release seems to be enough time.

Overall I do agree that getting pushed back is a concern...the whole virus situation is unpredictable and it's a very real possibility that someone will get infected on set or something. But if you look at the trends set by past movies, I think they can easily meet their deadline if there aren't any complications.

If the film doesn't require travelling to different continents and remains self-contained (as in US shooting locations) than I can see them making the scheduled released date. I believe Bumblebee was filmed primarily in California and wrapped up filming after about 3 months (July 31 to November 12). Plus, if it's a Bumblebee sequel they already have numerous CGI assets ready to go.

Considering Hasbro has received a script for the new film already, a teaser is nothing out of the blue

How do we know that this logo is even real? From what I know, Alfonso Nation has been known to lie, and Paramount/Hasbro hasn’t been promoting the logo anywhere else. This is the first I’ve even heard of it

Just from looking this logo and silver Autobot logo, I get the feeling this is true to the Transformers essence.

I think this film is going to be one of the live-action ones planned, specially the Bumblebee sequel. I can see it being promated as the G1 Transformers movie we should have gotten and maybe just be titled as "The Transformers".

I sort of hope the next movie is more self-contained than the Bay movies. Not that there's anything wrong with a globe-trotting movie, per se. But it does run the risk of becoming more about the locations than the story. To me Bumblebee (and even the 2007 movie, to an extent) prove you can make a good film that doesn't feature tons of different locations.

I think I said it in another thread a while back, but I would actually enjoy Brighton Falls (the town in Bumblebee) becoming the central setting for this series of Transformers films. Kind of like Jasper, Nevada in Transformers Prime. I find it really fun when stories let you get acquainted to a certain location like that. We could get to know the vibe of the town, and have reoccurring townpeople. The final movie could be about the Autobots saving the town from the Decepticons (maybe they want to terraform it or something). That would be a great way to set the stakes...much more personal and relatable than saving a big city like Chicago or Hong Kong.

I hope we get that, eventually. Personally, I think they should do the Optimus Prime and Bumblebee team-up movie first. For one thing, they could do it at a lower budget. For another, it would make more sense to do it before the next big team-up movie, so they could use the Optimus/Bee movie to lead into it.
