I'm tempted to buy an upgrade kit for my MG Phenex to make it the NT version. Having the shields hang lower I didn't expect to bother me this much, but they are.

Looks like there's LED gimmicks in the beam saber and the backpack thruster bells?

yea i noticed that too. the beam handle is too small to hold much electronics, so i suspect there’s a metal contact from his palm that’ll power the saber.

can’t read this, but i assume that’s showing the metal core in the hands

Kotobukiya sells an LED beam saber that works with 1/144 and 1/100 scale models, with a tiny custom(?) internal battery. So self-powered is possible, but I imagine highly unlikely. The Kotobukiya ones sorta work because they're sold individually and relatively cheap, so when they eventually burn out they can be easily replaced. Not so much with a Perfect Grade model.

the new PG looks insane. Metal parts, 3 layers to the frame, LED's galore. It's going to cost a bomb post shipping, tax etc but wow it's really an amazing looking kit.

    so i decided to experiment in uncharted territory; flat black weathering washes on bare plastic, and this is the result;

Oh man I hope that goes up for pre-order around the same time as Mercutius/Vayate. Might be a more time-sensitive thing than the Geminass 01 was, though, since with the 01 it wasn't as popular out of the gate on account of on its own not really being truly that unique outside of yet another P-Bandai exclusive mold. That of course ceased to be a problem once the Armors came out, and while the Geminass 02 never had armor variations like the 01, obviously it is the same kit and thus there is every expectation it could wear the High Speed and Assault armors like its brother unit. And while the two armors have an all-new single combined form, the idea that using Geminass 02 to wear whatever armor isn't in use on the Geminass 01 obviously would seem appealing. Certainly if one wants the High Speed armor's turbines on the shoulders instead of on the heels in combined mode.

Looking good - I'd also suggest a light layer of brown on top to simulate dust and dirt accumulation. Weathering is all about the build up of color layers.

Does anyone know what day of the month new kits release? I have the HG Heavyarms on preorder from HLJ and some 30MM add-ons that auto-ship on the 23rd, and I was hoping to ship them all at once.

Ah, but Canada can get both, so yeah, that really sucks for me.

I wonder if I email them and explain it's one day I can ask for an extension?

EDIT: Wait, I think the 24th in Japan is the 23rd here. I might be alright.

EDIT: Actually it seems HLJ has suspended auto-shipping altogether for now, even for Canada, so I'm fine. They even say the countdown still appears but you can ignore it because they'll make an announcement once normal operations resume.

I remember there being a flaw in the MG Exia that people were going on about, and I think through building it, its the ankles right?

This guy keeps falling over likes it the Berlin Wall.

    UGHHHHH

Also that PG RX looks stunning. I still need to dip my feet in to the PG scale one day, but I feel like my fiancee would murder me

Yep, it's the ankles. They didn't retool the mold when releasing any new kits based on it (Avalanche, Dark Matter, Amazing, the Repairs).

Not technically the ankles IIRC, but the mid-foot joint... at least that was my experience, as the joints that held the ankles together were pretty okay on mine, the feet just kept wanting to fold under the pressure.

Honestly I never noticed the problem with the feet on my MG Exia.
... So, what else have I missed while out on the hayfield all day?

PG Unleashed! ... excuse me for squealing like Brainstorm, but !!!!!!!!!!!!

Impressive design, very different from most other Rx78s save for the Industrial G40, but it really emphasises new design elements to the GrandDaddy Gundam that the design has never had before. The metal parts and LEDs, and overall involved design choices. It's like they incorporated everything from the Metal Structure Nu Gundam into an actual MODEL. And that multilayered frame design. OOOHOHHHOO.. that is a kit that demands a CLEAR armor set!!!
Me, I'd love to see it in G3 Gray.... *Hey Bandai! I know you're monitoring me, get on it!!*

    -
Well, speaking of Perfect Grades and Exias.. I didn't get very far tonight save for filling in some of the paint work along the folded edges of the main stanchion.

    20201007_225655.jpg

Once I get some fresh teal paint, I can start on the next phase of detail painting.

...and maybe start building the Gundam ...?
