This is an old post from another thread, but it's very appropriate here, yes Zeta is abandoning the pants approach to combiners.

Assaultus' level of articulation is a lot better than Armageddon, and the latter has the entire torso as a partsforming piece...

Ideally, only the robots an few parts should partsform.

    EXACTLY!!!!

I am curious to see how they handle Kaen and Shouki combining wise, I hope that there isn't just a massive pants piece like some of their other combiners, Raiden was probably the most well integrated combiner until Liokaiser came along, with all of his extra(non storable in other modes) pieces being just stuff like the fists chest plate and his back and leg wings. I expect the head to be a separate piece because its clearly going for that toon look instead of being Kaen's cab section, but its hard to tell otherwise.

If Radiatron is about the same scale that I'm modeling my replica of him at (20-inches to top of his head), he's going to be a monster combined. This print is a throwaway I accidently sent to the printers before the model fully saved, so the face is messed up, but I thought it would help us all get an idea of how big the official combiner is likely to be. Fking huge. lol

The original Feral Rex wasn't much better (I think the Jinbao KO might have even improved things a bit - I don't remember). Razorclaw was easily the weakest of the bunch, and part of that was because he had to form a torso, with the thighs being a weak point (but not the only weak point). Feral Rex looks amazing and most of the individual figures are really well-made, but as a combiner, he's not great. There's a reason I sold mine despite loving him to bits.

Love it or hate it, nobody has made a combiner as stable as those with all the partsforming pieces yet (and personally, I really dislike what everyone has done with Masterpiece-alike Menasors, but at least all three of them should be stable).

I think 6 Member combiners have it much easier though, when you have one bot dedicated to being the hips and one for the upper chest you really don't need that much extra stuff. like sure, Toyworld devy looks more proportional, but TFC and Generation toy still work fine all things considered. Personally I'm hoping Kaen is the hips without any extra pieces beyond what the original had.

Considering how big they were in alt mode in the show it could pass off as legends scale too.

Ah, the most boring combiner ever. Even more boring than monstructor. Well, good for those that want it since there was none.

There's just something about unassuming Japanese rectangles hiding robot parts that is the most fun "robots in disguise" surprise. The gestalt is the best part.

It’s too bad raiden was made from six different train engines instead of a six car high speed train that was all the same color scheme. A whole passenger train like this:

Then you could link them altogether in train mode and roll it around with wheels that roll. Even better if it was to a model train standard track scale. And it would have a uniform color like devastator, and symmetrical feet and arms..

I think train transformers are stupid disguises. Basically you are stuck to a rail going one way.

Good to see all the Raiden hate appearing out of nowhere. Not sure why you'd come into a thread specifically about a new Raiden toy just to shit on a 35-year-old character design (or older, if you count Diaclone), but okay.

Did any of the trainbots ever actually use a fixed track? I mean almost all of the trains in the Brave series created their "laser" tracks on the way, save perhaps the really big ones (like Locomorizer), but I'm pretty sure they - and Raiden - mostly just flew through the air (or through space).

Anything that's not military vehicles are stupid disguises, if we're going that route.
