I'm a little late catching up on this thread, but sorta related; my friend picked me up Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction when in came out as a b-day gift, but he wasn't into metal, and his mom was curious about it, since her only exposure was hearing about how evil it was (late phase Satanic Panic). So, since he gave me the gift at their house, she insisted we listen to it while she read the lyrics. She was shocked both at how "not evil" the lyrics were, and how much she liked the music. I remember weeks or months later, her asking me if I voted for a MuchMusic (Canadian MTV) video contest, as Megadeth's Symphony for Destruction was a contestant, and she herself paid the 50 cents to vote for them!
Have been a fan on both of these guys for years. EL-P since about 97 when he was in Co-Flow. Mike since he appeared on the "Whole World" Outkast single. Hey, I'm a Dungeon Family fan. RTJ 1-3 are great. Catch these guys live if you have a chance. Still can't believe that these guys have become this big with this unlikely out of nowhere pairing. Two of my favorite hiphop worlds came together and created a big impact. Feels good to finally be able to hear other people outside of my niche appreciate EL's hectic sci-fi funk beats. Big Deftones fan. This one is perfectly balanced between their two trademark styles.
I still need to pick up the new RTJ, should'a preordered the vinyl, it's getting snapped up quickly!!
My friends in Armenia are my family, and their homeland has become the place I call home as well. Right now they are fighting for survival. I would have been there right now, but someone changed my fate. I do what I can here to keep people informed, but I am constantly thinking of them and wishing I was there. The fighting is heavy, but their soldiers are brave. I know because some of their soldiers are friends of mine and relatives of friends. Godspeed to them. Bring the rain, brothers... Paykar, paykar minchev verch!!!
