So I’m sure you’ve all heard this before but I’ve become somewhat concerned over this factor lately as I’ve come to realize some figures have GPS that I didn’t know had it. Like I’ve always known about the likes of Black Zarak and Electro but I didn’t know until recently that my Energon Scorponok’s shoulders may disintegrate. So does anyone know of a thorough list of figures who are known to suffer from this?

I appreciate the list but I’ve heard reports of Armada Optimus having GPS which this article claims isn’t the case. Because of this I sought to ask the forums if there was a more complete list. Or maybe I have incorrect sources?

They're not always right, sometimes not even remotely. Armada Optimus does indeed suffer from GPS and has broken because of it.

Ok so I was wondering if anyone had a more complete list then? Because I actually had intended to get Armada Optimus but now I’m questioning wether to get him or not because of this.

The larger one. The Superbase Optimus figure.

Actually while I’m on the subject of Armada. Does Cyclonus suffer from GPS? I added him to my collection recently and I’d hate for a newly added figure to shatter so quickly.

What parts of Armada Optimus are prone to break?

This is the standard Optimus Prime toy, and not one of its recolors? I remember the K-Mart exclusive one, which actually had gold body work.

If Superbase Optimus Prime is not listed and the wiki says it's not susceptible I'd more likely take it that it's not common for Prime to break in this manner.

I'm a bit surprised to see Energon Scorponok on that list because I was sure the real problem was his arms are too heavy for his shoulder assembly and that was a shared problem with his moldmates.

I think the only Superbase Optimus that's prone to true GPS is the one that came in the 2-pack with Jetfire

No I’ve found images before of GPS breakage on the elbows of the original red release.

I was on the wiki page for GPS recently, and it appears ROTF Stratosphere has been discovered to suffer from it. Can anyone tell me if it's widespread or a few isolated cases?

I don't know, he suffers from shoulders and legs, aka all the tan parts. My Strato's right knee turned to dust a few months ago.

It's an all-or-nothing with GPS and in this case it's an all. That material was used for every copy of the figure. Whether or not it will actually break depends on your handling of the figure and possibly climate conditions.

Think of it like bad food at a party. There's no question that the food was tainted in some way, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get sick from it.

HFTD Terradive suffers from it. Well, his weapon, to be more precise.

I can 100% confirm that the original release of the Superbase Armada Optimus Prime is VERY susceptible to GPS, specifically on the gold parts of his arms.

I bought a sealed, unopened copy from the boards here several years ago, and right after I took him out of the package, the first time I transformed him, his arm snapped off.

I've heard of cases of GPS where the figure stays intact in the package, but will IMMEDIATELY become brittle when exposed to outside air. I believe that's what happened to mine.

So GPS is now the bane of my existence. I was looking through my Movie shelf after hearing the bad news about Stratosphere when I saw ROTF Blazemaster. Does anybody know if he has suffered or could potentially suffer from it? I mean, his arms are made entirely from gold plastic and he was in the same toyline as Stratosphere so...
