I took a look at some of his poses at HbPulse. Aargh. That hollow forearms! If implemented similar to Legend's Topsin's arm, not telescopic but fold in with a panel cover, it would have visually looked better. Again, not ragging on it but it's like the same old same old with Legends Jetfire (the hollow forearms).

The transformation for this could be used on a new Jetfire based on the G2 Cyberjet. Wouldn’t share any parts aside from the hinges and would probably be forgiven if it had kibble since Cyberjet G2 Jetfire had considerable kibble tucked under the wings(not as visible from the top unless the wings were swept forward).

Molding this in warm grey and slathering it with a mud pattern is what killed this. Pixelmaster mentioned the licensor making the call on deco. I don’t think it was Northrop Grumman, I think it was Paramount(this Transformer is licensed from both companies). I can’t see Northrop Grumman really caring about the deco(Hasbro’s made Skystrikers in all sorts of colors before) but Paramount must’ve referenced the wrong screen grab. The robot mode I think is okay, definitely room for improvement. It’s impressive how there’s minimal kibble in jet mode.

It would transform into an Jeep Cherokee XK (ORV), with bullet holes and have a "Rocky (off) Road" sticker on the rear and need a Superman T-Shirt and pirate hat for bot mode.

And it NEEDS to have sound samples.

    ???

You sure you're talking about these guys? (as Cyberjet G2 Jetfire is the grey/darker patches one) These guys don't have kibble aside the wings being their backs...

Older images of Jetfires with old phone at the time I took them all out, but to show the robot mode.

Holy smokes. Just ... Just why? It doesn't even look like anything. $50?

I vote that IDW put out a comic where Gigawatt goes back in time to stop the plans for this atrocity.

I’m aware. I have G2 Jetfire and Robotmasters R blade. I’m also familiar with the NATF design that G2 Jetfire is based on. It didn’t have the robo leg kibble that G2 Jetfire has on the sides under the wings in jet mode.

I’ve seen bargain store knockoffs that visually look better than this thing...

one of the biggest problems is that the alt mode just isn't that recognizable
it might be different if the robot mode was recognizable instead like if it heavily referenced g1 jetfire
ecto-1 and the delorean are unmistakable
even if you start by looking at the robot mode you might go "who are they?" but then you go "aha its the thing from that film - i remember that it was cool"
but with maverick theres no "aha" moment for either mode
the whole thing needs to be explained which says its not that successful

This is Hasbro\'s way of competing with the knockoffs (it\'s not that good)

If it had a new head and Tigerstripes as a sort of mash up of Generation 2 and Gi Joe Tiger force I'd love it more.

I can see it making a great Gi Joe crossover toy too since its essentially already a Skystriker as it is - (if the Movie company doesn't get tetchy about them reusing the mould for something else).

If not that then an Underscale KO would be nice in a variety of colours or an overscale with a 100% acurate jet mode colouring on it (sort of BlackMamba Aoyi Mech style).

In general though the toy is kinda plane (plain) (pardon my Cat Noir showing) so it's main issue is how it's decorated leaving it looking really boring.

The Milky overly glossy plastic doesn't help - I may looking to quality matting spray I think that might help a lot with the general look of it. It's just got that shiny KO look about it it's really outright ugly plastic.

A like the concept but the execution is particularly cheap, he actually looks like a KO.

He could end up putting a new licence plate on Maverick, which says "Otta' Paint"...

Add me to the cancellation crew. There are just too many things that make this less important and compelling to me than Ecto-1 and Gigawatt. If they use the same mold for a G.I. Joe crossover but also good plastic and paint, I’d buy it, because I could actually recognize WTF it is without the logo on the box or the call sign on the helmet.

Ahhh.. ok.. now I understand what you meant... compared to the "real" plane.

But still, they are still done in a way that I've never considered them as "kibble" as the "real" plane never did exist and the Cyberjets were always "Macross Valks" type to me.

There's just something awful about the plastic they used. It looks like it's made out of a soap bar.

Boy does that plastic look cheap. I'm sorry yall, If they did this in Starscream, Jetfire or VF-1S colors id probably be in, but that paint and plastic looks like the knockoff "transforming robot" from Dollar Tree.

Don't know about worst, but definitely the least interesting. This mold is not a standout on its own, but a popping color scheme might have sold it. And the upcharge for the Top Gun license just doesn't seem worth it. I am curious to see what he looks like underneath - if the underside is relatively kibble free, that could have been a demand which severely limited the designers options.

It is telling that this has been up for months now and still has not sold out (and don't tell me it is because the sequel was delayed because Back to the Future hasn't had a new film in theaters for 30 years).

Wonder if Tom Cruise even likes this .. looks like they lost complete interest after painting / designing the head .
