There is some definite witchcraft going on with the face on this figure. Pics make it looks like utter garbage from most angles but in hand it looks great. Super weird.

I picked this guy up just to check him out, even though I love the Siege version. Outside of the cannon/sword attachment the ER version is better in almost every way. The joints are tighter, the alt mode is beefier, and the head looks way better in person than in pictures. If I had picked up all the different versions of Siege Megs I might not be so in to ER Megs, but I didn't so he's great!

I also finally sat down and compared my ER Megs with Siege Megs and was surprised at the amount of mold changes. It really seems (to me) that there is like only 25% or less shared pieces between the two molds. The overall designs are identical so it seems like there's actually very little changes on the surface.

And yeah, the tank mode rocks! It's the number one reason I got it. Robot mode does look better too. I'm not disparaging Siege Megs because I think ER is better. Hasbro basically improved a good design to fit into the "earth mode" aesthetic.

I won't get into the same flaws that everyone else has described. Regardless, if you think you like the tank mode, you should just jump on this mold. Otherwise there's a good chance you'll hunt for this a year later and regret seeing high prices in the aftermarket. (Don't say we didn't warn you! :)  )

Would it be concieveable for a moderately-skilled customizer to mount the outer plates of the angled turret armor to the shoulders? If that's possible, I have an idea in mind to modify the Fusion cannon so the 120mm cannon stores inside it and completely do away with the clunky sword/cannon accessory.

Finally made a correction to make it more resemble the G1 cartoon:
    Megatron fixed.png

Here's a comparison GIF as well:
    Megatron COMP.gif

Anyway, I fixed the eye shape to look as it did in the cartoon, and the brow was redone to point upwards as it should.

To me, this would have made this the best G1 Megatron head sculpt, possibly even better than the MP which I felt was too round.

As-is, it still looks nice. I need to pick one of these up so I can have a Megatron to use that mace that the Centurion Drone came with. I will probably ditch the whole barrel thing and use that fan transformation where the Fusion Cannon ends up as his barrel, as I have been using on my Siege one. I will just treat it like Megatron took an Earth tank and powered it up with his Fusion Canon, which makes sense anyway.

Netflix Megatron still best for display purposes. But ER Megatron to me is much better as a toy to pose and play and transform in the office desk. And I like the more G1 accurate body and head too! Tighter joints all over for me too!

This is amazing! Has this been shared with Hasbro design team? Perhaps we can get a revision or special edition with this updated face paint application.

I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. But if anyone else does or thinks it would lead to something, then be my guest.

It would require a new face mold though, because the actual sculpt of the helmet brow and eyes would be changed. I personally doubt they'd even care beyond a cursory glance though.

Seeing that correction clinched it for me. I'm almost certain the ER head was designed to be painted Marvel black with yellow eyes. G2 Megatron also has a downward point on the helmet, which I think is why that version works more for me than this one.

EDIT: Digibash from @Nathaniel Prime on twitter. I'd buy this one in a heartbeat.

I received my Earthrise Megatron yesterday, and was fully prepared, like a basic glitch, to swap out the head for a Siege Megatron head.

The package arrived at noon and by 2.00pm I had fallen completely in love with the Earthrise head sculpt.

Siege Megatron has a wonderful head sculpt, and I love it as much as ever, but that Earthrise sculpt has a quality you can't capture in photos. It has an x-factor you can only appreciate when you have the toy in hand and are moving it around.

I know I won't convince anyone, and that's okay, but having the toy in hand really changed my mind.

Alright, you convinced me. I've just ordered another Earthrise Megatron to paint it into G1 Marvel colours.

Yes, the head works much better in person than the renders / still pics. It's magic.

I don't have this yet, but has anyone sliced off that dumb sword yet?

I saw the unscrewing, but I really like the full turret in tank mode, but I hate the "spear."

Do you have a pic of this showing the top? It looks great like this and I wonder if it looks good enough to pass off as a tank with the fusion cannon alone.

Just got this guy, ironically the screw that was supposed to connect the turret cannon top to the blade bottom was missing, an assembly error that worked in my favor as I already planned on removing the screw to make the pieces seperatable. I actually like the sword, the Siege one, while clever, was too big and busy, and the turret cannon mounted on the fusion cannon looks good and is practical, sometimes you want to shoot a bullet, sometimes you want to launch a grenade, lots of cases where the fusion cannon is overkill, even for the Slagmaker.

And as others have pointed out, in person the head/face is better and less Herman Munstery than in pictures. I'm still going to put on the Siege head, but that's because the Siege head mold was literally perfect. Also using the Siege cannon, it's rear section is slightly less obtrusive coming out the back of the tank turret, and I kind of like the techno-greeble on the top in tank mode.

And the 5mm peg on the back filler piece makes me think that I can plug something onto it to act as more and even better filler, maybe even something that can fill the space between the feet and make them less noticeable. How it can be utilized in robot mode, I have no idea, something to think on as I look through my random parts pile, but some sort of hammer might work.

Otherwise really like this guy, perhaps a bit more fiddly than Siege, but that's likely due to it being new and unfamiliar.

I hate this mold. It is not fun to transform at all. The parts forming piece is really arbitrary and almost impossible to place between the legs.

It looks okay in bot mode, but the giant backpack messes up the figure’s balance and articulation. I hate to say it, but the figure would be way better if the back pack could tab off just like ER Arcee.

The molding changes removed support plastic that would normally prevent the legs rolling back onto the back heel supports. As posted above, one way to counteract this is to have the back heel supports be one "click" down.

I like the way seige/earthrise Megatron looks in robot mode enough to purchase a few different variations but I really wish the transformation/alt mode was as good as Optimus. Seige Optimus in particular is just on another level compared to Megatron here.

Honeslty I think some of the cyberverse megatrons have better transformations than this megatron. They manage to do tank treads without just hanging the front treads off his back and they have better use of the legs.

Since I want to have my Optimus to have an equivalent opposing Megatron, I picked this guy up.
And well, I'm liking him more than I thought I would.
the main thing I dislike is the black filler piece. It doesn't really add anything to the spear and I don't care much if Megatron is a H-tank or not - plus its somewhat of a pain to attach in tank mode.

Didn't see a thread for the G2 version, but I just got him in. My first experience with the mold, and definitely my last. If not for the deco (which is amazing if you like G2) I would be flipping this immediately. The tank cannon, plus the piece that fills in the back of the tank, are unacceptable. This is by far the worst partsforming in Earthrise. There is no natural way for him to hold the turret spear. Some tolerances aren't wonderful, but that may just be my copy or the Selects run of the mold. But if you just want a G1 tank Megatron, stick with one of the Siege versions.
