Yeah, something like New Emperor of Destruction. Or the like.

Just looked it up, it's "Destron New Leader".

Well you could always make the case that was the 1.0, besides MP-1, takara hasnt really counted anything before MP-10. Neither Ultra Magnus nor Megatron are considered 2.0s.

    *shrug*

For me, Takara has confused the version number scheme all on their own. If they wanted to be consistent and use it in their marketing, MP-36 should have been Megatron 2.0, MP-22 Magnus 2.0, MP-10 Prime 2.0, and MP-44 Prime some other number. Bumblebee is the only one that makes sense. Starscream...?

I don’t know, it’s all fluff at this point. I’d rather see the actual MP-#.

In the prototype photos? Yes. It looks a little oversized. Not super-deformed, but larger than I expected. I'm hoping that this is a weird camera effect or just the prototype being a prototype and that it will look natural when we see the painted version.

I still think that the next Masterpiece will be either Rattrap or Megatron 3.0.  We\'ve had 3 Optimus\' (Optimi?), 3 Starscreams, so a 3rd Megs is more logical.  I am leaning more towards Rattrap though.  A surprise would be if it was something from the Beast Metals line like the Dragon Megs or a Beast Wars Neo Galvatron.

Why would they do Megatron 3.0? 2.0 is what the new design standard is based off of. They're not doing parity for parity's sake.

Well, TakaTom had the Conehead Seekers pack made available for the folks whom got theirs cancelled by Amazon so you guys are covered there...At least.

Steeper pricing but I reckoned it's still better than those put up on eBay.

I remember watching G1 after not seeing it for a while and thinking his head looked big on the show. This toy might be screen accurate but we're used to SS toys having heads smaller than the show.

To be fair, Takara never used 2.0 branding on MP-36 at retail either (like MP-11) so here's hoping we get a "real" Megatron 2.0 someday.

For the most part, it seems as though TakaraTomy largely ignores the pre-MP-09 Masterpieces for the sake of the Masterpiece "canon". They've only used the number designation for MP-44, and seemingly the upcoming Starscream, as those characters already had a new rendition after the scale reboot, and thus needed something extra to differentiate them, title-wise. Only then do they fully acknowledge the MP line's full history.

I guess after mp10 the line was actually more of a "line" versus a one off, hope will be able to do again type thing.

*thinks* Okay, that makes a little more sense I guess. It also explains why MP-45 has this v2.0 branding as well, since MP-21 Bee came along within the MP-9/10 era.

Ah right, forgot about Bumblebee. But yes, the pattern holds.

I remember back when MP1 came out. On another message board I started a thread, "What other MP would you like to see?" Every post was going on and on about how there would never be another MP toy and I was wasting time.
Those guys were mean... and WRONG!
