Excellent as always, thank you Paik.   Think the transformation bot-to-train seems intuitive enough I could remember it after a single viewing of that (especially now you've red flagged where the shredding occurred for you, and that the peg in the rear section may need a little filing down. Minor issues that can make a big difference to the overall first-time transformation experience.)

Didn't realise the train wheels actually worked either or that the chrome pieces moved in tandem. Amazing how good he looks in all three modes. I think train is also my favourite simply because of the extra detailing (and they went the extra mile with little extras like the clear yellow windows for the cab when they could easily have left those out)

But shuttle mode's still spot on and I honestly dont think there is a "weak link" in the trio as is so often the case with triple changer toys (i.e: Springer's car mode, nearly every time  )

Hope you caught the debate in the end, or "Interruptions: The Movie" as I'm calling it.

Mostly because a lot of facial expressions look weird without them.

 

Well, Takara tend to skip teeth in their open-mouthed extra faces with MP, but the effect with guys like MP36 and Sunny is often a bit "tragedy & comedy masks" for my liking.  

 

Clenched gums just don't have the same effect.

 

Fanstoys makes such amazing face sculpts.
I wish the person who designs them could do the face sculpts of every Transformers toy  

 

Their Astrotrain nails his "grouchy hardman" personality where practically every other version of that character in toy form has missed it so spectacularly. Ditto: Phoneix for Skyfire, Hunk, Goose, Quietus, and Sovereign, which are among their best.

Willis I think was the turning point for them where the fans demanded a closer likeness, which they delivered (and is still better than MP47, imho) and then they never looked back.

 

Quietus especially amazes me.
That face looks like he's about to come alive.

 

I think it looks fine but it's an older KFC design and it shows. Main part I don't like is the feet - they attach by a single thin plastic arm which is a really poor design choice  

My copy has a bit of play in the hip ratchets which is annoying, and it has the old kfc hands with the tiny fragile ball joints.

But, it looks fine in bot mode, is posable and ticks the box for the character.

Who knows if there will be another? The Octane wars were Unique Toys or KFC...

I'm happy enough  

Thomas blows it away though, but then it is newer and nearly twice as expensive!

 

Quietus is a handsomus bastardus and he knows it.





The only reason I don't own him is - quite literally - because I don't know which version to get!

I hear you, the original looks better, but 29T has remolded kneescaps (IIRC?) that help to alleviate paint chipping more than the original.

 

After seeing bababobo’s message about not getting enough stock for preorders I sure hope I don’t get beat when show z ships

 

Paik talked about an issue with armature of the chest pieces. For those that have him in hand - have you noticed a similar issue? He said it looks as though the screws may strip and work themselves out when the chest coverings are worked down for alt modes.

 

@Paik4Life thanks for the stream. Really nice look at the figure. Looks like it’ll be another FT figure I’ll never transform.

oh well. Overall, he’ll definitely tick a box for me. I just bought the Walmart G1 astrotrain on clearance for a few bucks, so I’m really looking forward to displaying them side by side. Lol
