I just messed with my copy again over lunch and those lower knee joints are really loose with no obvious fix besides the usual floor polish. I tried to push the pins in further to see if it would tighten it up but nothing changed. I'm seriously thinking about gluing that joint because right now the figure can't stand without perfectly balancing and I don't think I even need that joint. I'll transform it back to tiger to double-check before gluing. The figure has very good quality overall. The paint looks perfect to me and all 5 faces are flawless. And most of the joints are tight. The last few MP figures made in Vietnam have been very good so I believe their quality control is improving. Especially with paint on the extra faces. My only issues are some loose joints. The lower knees, the wrist swivels and the arm guards are all very loose on mine. I tried to tighten the screws near the wrists but it did not help. The wrists and arm guards are irritating but they work well enough so I'll most likely only bother to fix the knees. My biggest pet peeve with figures is when they cannot even stand on the shelf because of loose ankles or knees. In my mind that should be the number one priority for a collectible. If it can't stand on a shelf it has failed. My copy of Dinobot could not stand without floor polish and I'm currently using his tail shield as a crutch to hold him up which really sucks. Hopefully I just have bad luck and the problem is not widespread. Judging from the people posting in this thread it does not seem common. And it can be fixed with floor polish so it's not the end of the world.
This has all made very interesting reading. Sadly I'm not surprised to hear there are a few 'issues' with Tigatron, it seems par for the course these days, TT really do need to tighten up the QC. However I am please to hear there's nothing egregious (of course if the knees on mine are as loose as some I may have to adjust that opinion!). I'm certainly going to be taking it very carefully when he arrives tomorrow.
most of the copies should have no problem standing straight because the knee while not idealy tight , it's still has enough friction to hold the whole figure stable. Guess you have a light lemon. Mine stood firmly among my MPs for months before release date
Yeah, the knee looks like it should bend at the robot "joint", but it "pops" out of it so the actual movement of the leg is a bit counter-intuitive. Not a huge fan of it, but it does it's job.
With all the complaints about the joints being too loose, it’s surprising to me (save for knees, which are standing fine but I can see them being a problem on other copies). A lot of the joints and swivels are so tight they feel like they are going to break. I can’t even swivel the wrists without feeling like they are going to snap off.
Were you watching a video guide when you broke it? Mr. Stan's Show's video shows people to put the missiles on a peg and that is 100% not the right place to put the accessory. Hope you didn't break your toy due to someone else's mistake.
The ONLY joints that were tight on mine were the arm panels. Folding them up, I had to consult the instructions despite the fact it was pretty obvious what i needed to do. They were so tight that it honestly felt like they didn't bend that way. After the first time though it loosened up and isn't so bad anymore.
Must have transformed mine about 5 times back and forth over this past day. Back to beast mode again and everything lines up so beautifully... However, after playing around with it for so long, I have a couple of nitpicks: - Limited foot articulation that limits some poses in bot mode. - Paint rub/transfer. That black rubs off extremely easy on the white parts when ever the pieces come into contact with each other. - On my copy, one of the rear tighter thigh panels (the one that becomes the robot calf) can't peg in. All in all however, this one's a winner!
When I found out Tigatron didn't come with the butt gun, I had the same thought. And... I honestly can't recall him ever using it. He DEFINITELY used the arm missles and the gut gun, but the butt gun? Nah, I don't think he did. Heck, I'm not even sure CHEETOR did, either. Again, definitely had the gut gun, and I THINK he may have used the butt gun once, but it was definitely not a major part of his show arsenal if he did.
This train of thought actually puts a weird idea in my head: WHAT IF the main reason Tigatron is a new mold, rather than a repaint, is specifically BECAUSE he didn't have the butt gun? Like, the designers were thinking "Well, we can't really fit his arm missiles into the existing Cheetor mold, and he didn't actually USE the butt gun in the show... might as well just have a do-over on the Beast Wars Cat mold!".
Oh yes. My one other gripe has to do with the Megatron head. Huge, huge wasted potential. They really should have made it a proper 3X2 cube puzzle! More show accurate and would have been a fun thing in its own right... The general rule is, whenever Cheetor and Tigatron were together, Cheetor would use the butt gun to differentiate himself from Tigatron. I watched the video and that's exactly where you're supposed to attach the missile?
There's lots of reasons beyond just the butt gun. Entirely different size and cat physique is the major point.
slide mechanism? not sure what that part is edit: nvm i thought that was the ab-crunch. ye its tight...
I did, because I wanted to double check and make sure I was reading the directions properly. So where is it supposed to go? I repaired it last night. Edit: Just skimmed another video review and they also did the same thing. It also appears that’s where it is on the box?
