Maybe it's just the lighting and/or the plastic, but the insides of those doors look awful reddish to me.

 

Well it turned up today,and I'm not really sure what it is.

There's areas on joints and such, where you can see red plastic underneath the yellow, but I've tried scraping it off, and rubbing it with some Isopropene, but its not budging.

I'm assuming from what you said that the opaque parts LOOK painted, as opposed to molded in yellow?

 

Yes, but I tried the Isopropene on the bottom of one of the doors and it stayed put.

 

Sounds like a factory made yellow test to me, maybe the guys at the factory were messing around with the paint machine?

 

Yeah... and maybe the yellow is that crazy indestructible paint that they sometimes use on TFs... the stuff that doesn't come off no matter how much alcohol you throw at it?

(like the purple on Classics Megatron's shoulders for example)

Well, we've confirmed that it's a red Aveo painted yellow at least. The hardcore yellow paint suggests a factory product. Probably a test shot.

Maybe the red one is the limited edition that you get when you buy the car in China and the yellow one is the wide release under the Universe line in 2008.

 

Has anyone else noticed the resemblance between the head of this Chevrolet Aveo Swerve and the Autobot symbol or Prowl, especially Robots in Disguise Prowl? I don't think that a Chevrolet Aveo would make a good police car, but the resemblance to me is very pronounced. I can't imagine the wide release being any other character.
