I don't hate it either...I just find it really bland and uninspired. I generally don't like the word "uninspired" because storytelling requires some inspiration...but this is the sort of thing that fits that word best (at least to me).

Honestly, I'd probably like it more if it was terrible. I'm the sort of person who can get into something like Cars 2 because of how insane and baffling it is. I would probably consider the Bay movies less good than Siege, but I'll take them any day of the week over Siege because they at least they're insane and weird and they leave an impression on me. If the Bay movies are Cars 2, Siege is like...The Good Dinosaur. Not awful, but completely unremarkable. Which I'd argue is the worst spot for something to be.

that's a really good write up. it was as bland as a bowl of lukewarm oatmeal with nothing on top. I think the big condemnation for me is I feel asleep 2 or 3 times the first 2 times I was watched it. Not solid, but nodded off.

I’m curious if this show will be a better watch if you watch all 3 parts consecutively.

Siege is... fine. Definitely received more hate than such a harmless and average show. Like, if it’s too stylized there’s complaints, and if it’s too average there’s complaints. There’s just no pleasing everyone.

I do find it funny how some people were complaining that the WFC toy line went to Earth way too quick, yet now the complaint is “when are we gonna get to Earth?”

I totally get falling asleep. I didn't personally fall asleep (I find it almost impossible to sleep while I'm watching something), but I can't say I remember 80% of the show two months after watching it. It just didn't have big exciting moments...aside from a few things in the last episode. And even those things felt derivative of stuff in other Transformers entertainment, but done less well.

There were a couple times I thought the show was going to get really interesting. Like, Soundblaster had a lot of potential, I got excited when I saw him sitting in that throne like some sort of mob boss. Characters were talking about how he gets irritable when he's compared to Soundwave. But then he was just a generic villain who wasn't much of a threat...he was more like a slight obstacle than a character. Why didn't they really play the irritable mob boss thing up? That could have been so much fun...and a potentially great character addition to the Transformers mythos. For me the whole show was like that. A lot of potential, but they always chose the blandest and least exciting route.

Most of the show was just characters slowly walking and talking. Which isn't necessarily bad, it's fine to have a more dialog-based show (especially if they're aiming at adults). But if that's the kind of show you're going to make...the conversations and interpersonal stuff needs to be really interesting and compelling. And I just wasn't invested in any of it.

Did people not watch the livestream on Saturday? F.J. DeSanto literally explains where the Mercenary Faction came from. Hasbro created the symbol, and happened to have it up at one of their meetings with him. He thought it was a really cool faction symbol and asked the Hasbro team about it. Hasbro intended for it to be the symbol for a new faction, and DeSanto asked if he could take the new faction and develop it. Hasbro obviously let him.
We already have 2 factions with names that literally says what that faction is- Neutrals and Decepticons. Now we have a third with Mercenary.
Of course there are also names like:
    Insectacons
    Predacons
    Constructicons
    Dinobots
    Aerialbots

    And the list goes on.

Mercs, Mercons, Mercenaughts, Head Hunters, Cybro Hunters, etc. All have more umph than "The mercenary faction," even if some of the names suck.

I really hate this as an excuse for shitty TV shows/movies.

No, you can’t please everyone, but that’s not an excuse for poor quality and laziness. If you’re not going to bother trying to please anyone just because you can’t please everyone, you shouldn’t be in the entertainment business.

Because people want some measure of consistency. The toyline dropped the Cybertronian modes before ever truly committing to it, and now the show that could in some way at least legitimize that shift isn’t even bothering to do so.

Nothing makes sense, nobody knows what they’re doing, and it’s really painful to watch. There was a serious lack of planning and commitment in the show and toyline, which for Transformers is a huge fuckup. Especially since they’d just made the same exact mistake with Prime Wars.

Is it too much to ask for the people behind these things to give a shit?

Probably. Seems like if there’s anyone dying to make some TF media with a plan and unbridled passion they don’t get the chance. Maybe studio Trigger will one day get that opportunity.

It's a hallmark of Rooster Teeth since their inception, the elements or ingredients are there, but they can't manage to bake 'em into a cake that rises as it were, there are a lot of parallels with the flaws in RWBY as HBomberguy dissects them that seem very much to apply the Netflix WFC too, with the exception of the little creativity on display.

That may be, but Hasbro seems to like to keep names simple. It's pretty much been their ongoing M.O.
Personally, I have no issue with the name. It cuts straight to the point.

I think a lot of that is due to a rush to production and the 3 year line strategy. The toys is the product they are selling you, everything else is an advertisement for that product and this show is no exception.

Again I think the show’s story and special effects are fine, my major issue is with the dialogue and execution of that dialogue.

Also the all spark is such a cliche silly thing, that needs to stop being used as a major plot device. It’s boring and undermines the major story of a war for identity and survival.

Say what you want about War for Cybertron, but it was weirdly satisfying in this trailer to watch Bumblebee garrote a Go-Bot.

It's cool but dumb - because why would you even design Sci Fi energy cuffs that can be weaponised against a captor by a captive?

    A few things:

Did they seriously just make Exhaust's head a black version of Wheeljack's? That's super lazy.

The coneheads being mercs feels random, but then quite a few elements chosen feel that way.

I want more mercenary characters in TF, I think they can lead to interesting stories. I don't want a dinky faction with their own symbol, it feels kinda pointless. I don't really hate the symbol, if maybe it was just used to REPRESENT mercs in Cybe military, but they're wearing them like Abot or Dcon badges. Lockdown in Animated probably did it the best, at least in regards to shows. Hell even the mercenaries that Starscream hired in RID were done better!

It's annoying that we have to wait until these shitty Netflix things come out before there's any chance of a new show coming along that maybe tries harder than Cyberverse or these .. creations.

Megatron's mega-dramatic melodrama verbiage with long-drawn out words makes me wanna hurt whoever is directing this garbage. No, it doesn't make it dark, heavy and more real. It totally removes me from engagement because it's so, SO, SO over-the-top that it's completely unrealistic. Megs figures all this out and, rather than flying into a rage and rambling exponentially at speed about what a dope Optimus is, he sits there going "deeeeeeeeeeeaaaaath suuuuuuroooooouuuuuuunds uuuuuuuuuussss" in a bare monotone with no inflection, no emotional weight, and no actual vibe to speak of. Right, sure, totally.

Maybe they need to consult some folks that have done good voice directing at some point for some tips. What they're doing right now is just not working, at all.
