    Indeed welcome.

I would advice as @The Happenin Rhinoceros said to, take advice/watch vids on a case by case basis.
With the KOs there is no general outline (IMHO with no company, but thats another matter): One company could create a great KO and then create a big fail. Dont take anything at face value. Also you might want to have a mentality of doing a little (or more) work yourself to ironout any deficiencies.

Thank you both for the info. I've actually spent all afternoon reading about KOs. I had no idea it would go right back to the 80s...some of the bots I had as a kid were probably KOs! It is a very interesting topic and I really appreciate the friendly welcome. :)

I definitely had KOs in my 1980s collection. :)

Same. One of my favorites was one of the rather obvious brown and gold Dinobots that was my Grimlock since I didn't have the original. The quality was no different than his counterpart, he just had spikes down his back and a horn on his nose. Plus more digits on his fingers and toes in dino mode.

I loved that guy. It was super-upgraded-Grimlock in my 80's world.

It's a lovely thing about this hobby...even sitting here reading through threads and checking G1 photos, it's bringing back many happy memories. Just wish I still had them all from back then...KO or not!

And the orange Insecticons, and the KO Diaclone version of Starscream (with pilot) and Cassette Man (and cassettes) the Six-in-One Construction set... and all those quasi-KOs too, like Convertors and Shackwave...

    Good times. :D

Back then, the quality was the exact same on a lot of them, too. Everything fit right in with each other.

I just saw this. Came across the figure on AliExpress and was about to post it.
What im still not so sure is if the figure is truly OS'd or its just taller because it has the longer thighs (as well as gap fillers) and the rest of the figure is just like the regular Hasbro figure since BPF usually do the 1:1's KOs.

It is oversized, but very slightly. There’s some comparison pics that compare it with the official somewhere in this thread and the dedicated thread for the figure.

    Edit: Found the comparison.
Siege Ultra Magnus KO (Slight modifications)

I’d definitely say that most of the added height is from the extended thighs though.

For the most part, yeah! I mean, the Convertors version of the Deluxe Insecticons was definitely simplified and cheaper than the Hasbro versions, but they were still pretty cool! And most of my KOs were pretty much the same grade as the officials.

    I don't know that one!

It's like a normal one only slightly bigger - maintains 5mm holes and posts the weapons are not upscalled and it contains a bit of metal.
If you wanted one a lot bigger it's nothing like a true OSKO - I have a normal one and the new one side by side they are about the same height.

It's just big enough that upgrade kits don't fit without mods unfortunately. I like it as I like buying versions with metal in them - but if the idea is to get a bigger one - i'd suggest skipping it & waiting for an Aoyi Mech version instead. It isn't really upscalled (it's like barely bigger)

faithoptalk has been gone for ages - they do still answer messages though and operate under other names now.

Look em' up, thats where the black g1 f15 starscream got its roots (i think?)... also they had their own line of insecticons, and devastator (mr. Hard hat i think?)

I've always wanted to track down the KO MP factories and force them to change the stamp on the figures so people could easily tell.

My wife and I were out of town this weekend and came back tonight to find this guy on the front porch waiting for me (APC Dark Master, TF: P Megatron).
    20200927_214043.jpg
I didn't have a chance to do much besides snap the cannon and sword on him and take a quick pic, but overall it seems nice. A little lighter in-hand than I was expecting at the price point, but plastic quality still feels sturdy and the joints feel nice (what little I've played with them).

One thing is for sure: he definitely photographs well.

I was just curious if there is a way to know which Sunstreakers are the good ones? I wasn't aware the the different runs. Thank you.

I don't have one myself, but I don't think there is any way to know what you'll end up with. I've seen everything in these boards and FB groups from "I can barely tell it apart from my official one" to "it can barely stand up and three joints broke when I tried to transform it." It seems to me like the KO Sunstreakers have the greatest spread of potential quality that I've ever seen.

Besides the Transcraft Bumblebee due out in the next month or so, is there any other really anticipated 3rd party due out before the end of the year?

This seems like the wrong thread to ask this question, but off the top of my head the big ones are Fans Toys Thomas (some people already have him in hand now) and MMC Reformatted Tesarus in the upcoming month. Lots more I'm sure but you'd probably have greater success asking in a 3p thread :)
