Here's a recent one: Up until today I had no idea that Chris Latta also voiced Wheeljack and Sparkplug, and for some reason I'd always just assumed his Starscream/Cobra Commander voice was his natural and only voice.

Way back in 87 or 88, I thought the Autobots transformed Daniel into a Transformer using cybernetics. It freaked me out. I believed that it was some new garish, dark element of the show now that they had Optimus killed. It terrifies me. In my mind, they had to follow that up with something else just as shocking (in my childhood mind). I believed kids weren't spared the Headmaster technology like they did to Daniel's dad, Spike.

Now older, I am fully aware they wore suits and didn't have cybernetics forced into them changing them into heads for Transformers.

Ironically enough I believe that was kind of the concept, From what I recall all the original marvel comics I believe the nebulons Were fited with a few cybernetic components to make the binary bonding process work

If that's true, I dodged a bullet. Our comic stores didn't carry Marvel Transformers. They had Marvel everything else. Whew. Cyborg Daniel isn't a reality in the cartoons though.

people thought that all the pre-season 3 G1 toy molds originated only from Takara's Diaclone line, ignoring Takara's Microman along with its Micro Change sub-line.

Well Daniel never appeared in the Comics anyway

and the Nebs Didn’t really look like cyborgs I just recall that certain implants had to be made for the process to work

What do you mean by “people”?

I certainly didn’t consider that and I do believe most fans were aware of the facts

I remember when watching the old Centurions cartoon after Doc Terror gave Hacker the cyborg treatment, Hacker didn’t like it and wanted to be changed back. When Doc Terror said “There is no going back,” I just imagined a bin out back with Hackers cut off limbs and innards in it! Was shocking as a kid to realize, along with Hacker, the seriousness of what he’d just done.

As for Transformers, the humans and Nebulans would definitely need some new joints replacing their biological ones in order to transform. But in the comics, I think I remember Spike taking off most of his ‘suit’ and wearing a big trenchcoat over top — perhaps those other parts are now his permanent body.

A kindergarten classmate of mine was adamant Hot Rod was the son of Ironhide and Chromia. To him, Hot Rod's helmet being similarly round to that of Ironhide was proof enough, and he was certain mixing Ironhide's red with Chromia's blue would somehow yield Hot Rod's magenta and orange. Upon being pressured over how come they had no interaction in the movie or why didn't the news of Ironhide's death shock the Rodster more, he had even made up a story about how Hot Rod was disowned by his apparent parents because of his rebellious attitude and flame tattoos, only realized the error of is way when it was too late and mourned his father's passing off-screen after the movie. Honestly it was kind of impressive.

Impressively nuts but just for the sake of fun there are a couple of problems with the questions you posed
They never shared any screen time, and keep in mind Daniel and spike didn’t have any interaction with each other until the end of the film and the exec or from Unicrons body

No one could have been certain about who did and did not die until after the film

Yeah, there's not a lot of time spent with Spike and Daniel being together. It's something that didn't really occur to me as a kid, but it is a bit odd. Come to think of it, do see Daniel's mom in season 3 at all, or does she only appear in Headmasters?

As for the movie's death count, I think we just checked who had returned for season 3 and connected the dots, and didn't really put a lot of thought into it. Kinda weird how as six year olds we just accepted Prime dying form a few laser shots when he had survived so much worse in the cartoon itself. Still, I was too busy with being impressed by what I thought was a movie treating me like an adult, with all the grown-up stuff like death and destruction galore, when in reality it was a somewhat cynical way of making room for new toys. I guess that's another misconception for the thread...

Three or four times? Man, shows how long it's been since I've last seen S3. Oh well, it's as good an excuse to watch it again as any.

During my childhood my mind formed a picture of Transformers tank. When i got into it more, few years back i realized i mashed up a design based on Energon Demolisher and Movie Brawl. Come 2020 and to my suprise it comes as a toy. Who? Micromaster Bombshock.

they are for all intents and purposes "twins" (even if not biologically so) and twins often mess with people by swapping clothes so they look like the other one and I am positive that R&F swap paint jobs for this exact purpose. So the entirety of the G1 Cartoon, they'd swapped paint jobs to mess with people. I like to think the "extra" Blue One in MTMTE part 2 at Sherman Dam (while "Rumble" was making the earthquake in the river) shooting at the Autobots inside the dam facility was Frenzy.

I thought the maximals and predacons were just autobots and decepticons in different bodies

I thought bumblebee was Optimus prime’s son

I thought Prime was connected to the bayverse

I thought idw metalhawk was bumblebee’s dad or his future self

    I thought dinobot was starscream

I thought Optimus prime and megatron were brothers in g1

I thought that transformers was connected to the marvel universe

When I first saw the trailer for rid15 I thought that sideswipe was knockout, strongarm was smokescreen, thunderhoof was thundercracker, and the entire TFP cast besides them were dead or were going to appear in s2
