They've said the mold is one and done. Yes, they could rerelease it if they wanted, but the logistics of doing so would probably require another crowd funding campaign and it wouldn't be any cheaper because Hasbro never rereleases figures for cheaper than their original price.

 

the crowdfund was to get it made but now the molds are all paid for they can do what the fuck they like with it without having a crowdfund and didn't say it would be cheaper ( they now know people will lay big wedges of cash down )

 

They would need a guaranteed minimum number of orders still, especially if the cost was $575 again, or they would risk sitting on unsold stock. That is just basic logic.

 

The Star Wars Razor Crest just went live. 33% funded already... Hero Quest is 150% funded with 42 days left.

I'm not sure what this means for a new Transformers project. It's the only one that's needed extending save the Elmo fail.

The other way to look at it is the price point of $300-400 is the sweet spot. If they have a TF one in that price bracket, which The Ark may fit the bill for, then they might expect that to fly too.

 

Unicron didn't "need" the extra time though. Affiliate orders never got added until the final day, with those additional orders it would have met the goal. Hasbro actually listened to the fans that were wanting the extension and gave it.

 

Fair point, but the Sentinel, Hero Quest, and seemingly this new one, are racing to funding regardless. There's still a big difference between them and Unicron

 

Yea, over $200 in buy in cost.

 

I guess we'll have to wait for the next Transformers project, that from the rumors is going to be less expensive than Unicron, to see if the price will make a huge difference.

 

Also worth noting re: Unicron is that they learned from him to announce HasLab projects in advance of them going up, at least to the extent of being able to tell people "start saving for something you'll want."

 

The sentinel and mandalorian shop they did give some hints like a month prior.

Do we know yet of Unicron's release month? I remember there being a vague "Spring 2021."

 

HasLab site says "early 2021". Interestingly the Sentinel say "Fall 2021".

That says to me it could be anything in Q1 and perhaps April or less likely May. I think by May you're in 'mid 2021' rather than 'early'. I'm thinking most likely is February/March

i am sure haslab will make sure this thing gets pushed out on time. manufacturing bots and global logistics is what they do. if they need to adjust a few things to keep this on time i doubt it will be an issue.

 

Probably going to depend on if it's done production before CNY, too.

Feels like it's on track for that to be a possibility, considering the molds are done and they're now tweaking fits/colors.

 

i mean all those are what if's at best. from what i understand i thought this bot was being made in vietnam and distributed out of china. so cny wont have any real play in this.

 

I saw on Twitter orders from Japan are getting a confirmation of March for the release date from TakaraTomy.

 

The final version has been made. The team has fiddled with it. The box has been thoroughly tested and it’s good to go.

They altered the eyes a little bit (something to do with the transparency of I remember correctly) made the yellow plastic more orange (to the point it’s more orange than yellow now I think).

Some super minor deco changes so small I’ve completely forgotten the details.
