Nope. Their tfc optimus prime was considered pretty damn good and good quality. Which is what confuses me. That prime if I recall is a deal bigger than this guy. And the same price? Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Sounds like you've been out of the loop. People go fucking nuts over diecast, I've never been a fan. Plenty of companies still use diecast but its not universal. TFC has also been making genuinely good quality/sturdy figures for the last 2 years. It started with Hades, their Liokaiser. Beautifully engineered individual robots, terrible in combined mode. Then Poseidon their Piranacon nailed everything, and Trinity Force their Road Caesar while complicated was extremely well received. Anyways TFC has been on a roll.

Well, this is an endorsed (maybe licensing fees involved?) product based on the glorious People's Liberation Army Air Force. They probably need to make sure everything is on point, or receive a pointy end of something if it besmirched their reputation.

Wouldn't that mean charge less? If its really as threatening as you suggested, wouldn't you just take the loss? Or for that matter, why even bother producing it at all? I don't believe China stormed into a 3rd party toy company demanded they produce a certain toy, and it damned be good, otherwise they get killed. So they did it on their own.. I mean, I dont know how they got to 200 or 150 from China. We know diecast ain't that expensive, its just to make things feel better, and their optimus had diecast too. Hes bigger and cost the same. I think this is a case of them trying to get away with overpricing
Maybe to help fund their predacons?

I was only joking about the threat lol. I meant prestige and all that. The nationalism in China is very strong, after all. Some people do think the price of this is expensive, but many more pointed out Macross products are priced similarly. Perhaps it's not just about the toy but funding the rest of the original IP.

Hm maybe. I'm ignoring the Robotech explanation, because as far as i can tell, the Robotech products are pretty bad. I suppose it's easier to sell an optimus than an obscure new character. And that whole nationalism thing could be totally true. Well hopefully you're right about the ip thing, cause thatd mean later products could be cheaper

They announced this figure just lately and its almost done now. I wish the terrorcons also had the same attention TFC gave to this guy.

I know that size doesn't necessarily equate to value but it's a tad small FOR ME at that price. Hopefully it turns out well; every TFC figure I've bought recently has been excellent. Might pick it up on sale though.

Yeah I was gonna pick up a second copy for alt mode because I figured it'd be bulkier like their base mode Tactical Commander. Doesn't seem to carry the same presence for $150, whereas TC looks and really feels worth it so I'll stick to 1 now.

Macross, not Robotech. The Bandai stuff. Though, I was never impressed by Macross engineering anyway. They look great, but the materials need a delicate touch and the transformation seem to be stuck from the early 2000s compared to 3rd party TF.

It was supposed to be in conjunction with an airshow or military exhibition I think, which was canceled due to the pandemic.

Yeah, the more I look at it and think it over, the less I'm interested in paying $150 for this guy. I think I'll sit this out and see what happens with pricing later. If it sells out and is gone after that, that'll just be another figure I never picked up and won't worry too much about it.

New pictures do look good. And I do like his size.

Definitely out seeing these pics. Simply too small for what I would want it for and at this size the price becomes an issue. It's the same price as S.T. Commander and that one was quite a bit bigger and came with a shitload of extra parts.

They haven't always used good plastic, no. Not sure I would call it shampoo bottle quality, but they didn't always use the best.

However, they've changed. A TFC TF product that is many ways similar to this is their S.T. Commander (a sort of GI Joe crossover Optimus Prime). That was made from (very) good plastic, very good joints, good diecast and the second version, a camo version, had very nice paint apps.

I might be a just-okay figure if it's affordable and we'll sized. But I wouldn't drop $200 on a medium sized just-okay figure. I think that's what he was getting at

I'm out too, after the price. The figure looks cool but for the size and appearance, even if it's good quality, I can't justify paying that much

Those were posted in 2013, they just look like digibashes of F-35s and J-20s using Photoshop.

Looks okay but that lavender sticks out, would’ve preferred another tone of grey

I like this thing, but I don't think I 200 dollars like this thing. It's nice to see more unique, relatively well done transforming jets though.

I stopped buying TFC products with their Uranos set: only bought the four limbs (since I never cared about Silverbolt), but with each purchase I was already questioning why I was getting them. Only bought one member of the Lio Kaiser set (the blue jet...uh...there should be two names in my mind, but sine I bought it to use as Needlenose...)

I definitely did look at some members of the Poseidon team with interest, but never got them. Thus for me the first experience with TFC since Uranos was S.T. Comannder (camo) and it blew me away. Difficult to believe this was the same company.

I was thus looking at this with interest, but it's too small for what I would want.

    Same company, different design team.

Agree... I wish it were bigger.
