I'm all in on that Beast Megatron and I'm not even a Beast Wars guy.

I need a Primal to go with Megs.

I know this MAY seem weird from a guy who bitched about 'backpacks' in another thread but honestly with Megatron I'm not too bothered because I saw it coming. It was there on the original toy and pretty massive too. The show model likewise retained it, as did the masterpiece. Its like with me finding Kup to be hideous: its an issue with the original design to begin with and not an issue of the figure itself. BW Megatron had these giant 'wings' of dinosaur flaps sticking out his back in the original design and I'm not sure it could have been avoided without completely changing his iconic transformation scheme.

 

Cyclonus' vehicle made looks amazing, all painted up.
I'm glad to see they fixed the plastic color match on his chest.
His face is pretty rough but we already knew that from the leaked testshot a few months ago.
Will most likely pick him up to go with SS Scourge.

I won't be getting him but Beast Megatron looks great as well. Was expecting something more akin to the Jurassic Park aesthetic but it's dope that they went with a more scientifically accurate dino mode. Robot mode face sculpt is perfection.

This really makes me excited to see Dinobot!

 

I think he's more of a midpoint between his 1990, Jurassic Park-influenced scaly T-Rex design but given a more modern physiology and details. The feather debate will rage on, however...

Megatron looks glorious. Everyone's favorite purple people eater. Backpack heavy, but if it's well implemented that won't be a big issue. He won't replace my BWMP version, but he will be joining him on the shelf all the same.

But the real story is that Cyclonus. My second favorite Decepticon finally gets the home run he deserves. I love the old Universe mold, but this one looks to do everything that one did, only better. Gimme. Gimme right now, Hasbro. I NEED it. I've been waiting for a Cyclonus this good since I was 4 years old.

And this just continues to ratchet up my hype for what we all know is coming. Hot Rod? Looks f-ing amazing. Scourge? Ok, we haven't seen the alt mode yet, but that bot mode is absolutely stellar. And now Cyclonus just about perfect. Galvatron is coming.

I repeat: Galvatron is coming.

Don't fail me now, Hasbro. These look fantastic. I can't wait to own the lot of them. But you want to push me completely over the edge of hyped into "TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!" territory? Stick the landing. Galvatron or bust. Do it. You know you want to. Prove to us you can.

I like them all. Megs T-Rex face reminds me of the dad from Dinosaurs though.

 

Bonus points if some kind of pilot figure like a Dianaut can fit into Cyclonus’ cockpit

Those absolutely amazing, I want all four, even Cyclonus despite how done I am with G1. I kinda wanna do a Unicron display with Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge, Nemesis Prime and Sideways in front of him. If we get Sideways.

But that Megatron my god he's beautiful.

Ehhh, at this stage, it shouldn't. Current science suggests it is unlikely that Tyrannosaurus itself had a substantial coat of feathers. It did look substantially different than this Jurassic Park-influenced look (notably, it likely had lips), but feathers are not among the reasons this figure is paleontologically inaccurate.

That said, the whole debate over these characters and paleo-accuracy is kind of pointless. Hasbro's goal with these toys is to make something that looks very similar to the cartoon models and original, not create new, updated designs (at least, not updated radically). So regardless of the changes in paleontology, these toys were never going to be designed with that in mind.

 

Megatron has me so excited for Dinobot!

Megatron's beast mode looks absolutely fantastic, paleontological quibbles aside,* easily the best mainline Tyrannosaurus we've gotten.
