Only indirectly, when it was said every 86 Movie character except one would get a new figure. Wreck-Gar's most recent figures from Combiner Wars aren't that great, and if I was Hasbro, I'd want a good Voyager-class Wreck-Gar to recreate his fight with Springer.

I am straight up gonna lose my shit when I see the actual products on the shelves. SS packaging is hot, and giving it the '86 treatment is gonna make it melt.

 

He was in the 86 movie as Astrotrain.
We got a new Astrotrain. So why not a new Blitzwing.
Although i have titan returns jap version of blitzwing.

 

Do we have a list of the confirmed G1 bots for this line? So glad I managed to find a Siege Springer. I feel like that one was a way of giving us a '86 Springer without making it an SS. Kinda like how we're getting an earthmode Magnus in Earthrise.

I mean, I get WANTING it, I mean I want one as well, but people talk about it like it's a real thing when in reality he's nowhere in the 2021 lineup, Kingdom or SS86.

Do you know what has been jogging my mind about all these reveals? The possibility of Gen Selects Repaints, Here's what I'm thinking:

• Hot Rod - SG Hot Rod
• Jazz - Jackpot (Stepper had his turn)
• Kup - Orion Pax
• Scourge - Convetion Exclusive Devcon

 

I'm glad we're getting a jazz. I was really surprised they never did an MP of him, and his missing from the WFC lines seems odd. I thought he was one of the most popular characters. I'm guessing it's a licensing thing, but it's great this isn't an issue for this line. I hope he gets his original Porsche alt-mode. I saw a previous figure (I forget the line it was part of) whose alt-mode just didn't look right.

I'm keen on the Hot Rod and Scourge. Also looking forward to the dinobots, although I wish they'd started with Sludge and Snarl, but that's as I have two decent Grimlock and Slag figures already. (In this case MP Grimlock and Gigasaur Grassor.) I'm interested to see them nonetheless. While I like my versions they're not quite there. MP Grimlock's shoulders are way too high in robot mode. Conversely the legs look too low in dinosaur mode, to my eyes, but I appreciate that's authentic to how be looked in the G1 show. Maybe I'm missing the old G1 toy. He lacked pose-ability and had no elbows but he still looks good.)

I understand the big shoulders burly arms are all part of the character, but the position just isn't right to me, and makes him look mistransformed and hunched.

Grassor is almost perfect but his hollow lower jaw bugs me* and I would like an official leader Slag who is closer to the original in appearance. Grassor's robot mode is brilliant though.

*Bit of a nitpick, to be fair as you rarely see the hollow bit. I just think the jaw should form that silver bib in robot mode. In Grassor's case the bib is just decoration, and the lower jaw forms a second hood under the upper jaw/head. Hopefully the new leader Slag sorts that out.

 

The more I hear the Kup to Orion pax retool idea the more I think it would be genius.

Also Jackpot out of Jazz would be sweet. They need to make more use of the original action master characters. A Slicer out of wheeljack would also be nice.

 

Orion Pax from Kup has also been done several times (ehobby and titans return and even a 3p that does legends scale stuff) so that's pretty much a legacy retool at this point
