Yup. They (Hb or Takara) tried too hard with that power armor upgrade premise. Prime got whooped in the truck mode while Rodimus in his Prime mode. But to be fair, they, the designers actually went for the early designs of Rodimus with his trailer as a backpack.

I wonder if the feedback would still be the same if given the Takara Volcanicus paint job?

 

Out of curiosity, what even is it that people hate about the leader class figure?

 

Maybe personal preference or the hate of the character?

On my end, the figure could have benefited greatly with a little Takara paint bling and a change in the plastic material. As I already mentioned, the figure remained true to it's original conceptual design waaaay back in 1985 with the trailer backpack. Of course compromises are expected but hey, us humans are never satisfied.

 

Yeah, if they release a "Movie Accurate" color scheme I'll definitely be double-dipping.

This figure looks awesome!!!!!! Puts every other official Hot Rod release to shame, including MP-28.

Hoodlum's okay, but definitely flawed.

 

To be honest, I was really annoyed because POTP Rodimus Prime = Hot Rod
+ chunks of trailer kibble. (ie, no battle platform).

My other issues were with his combined robot mode shoulders (which were fixed by some upgrade parts) and the fact that his chest wasn't screen-accurate. However, I'm a bit more forgiving now that I know that a new toy version of Rodimus Prime is on the way.

 

Gotta disagree. That Rodimus was great (had its own Matrix) and was a good Leader class size, something fans are constantly complaining about now.

I mean it looks fine to me. Unless you mean like the exact proportions and stuff, but I don’t really think that exact proportions are that necessary, especially if they mean sacrificing the use of actual vehicle mode parts. He still captures the essence of the character. But I guess that’s my preference. I still might pick up this new one since he does look pretty good, but I’m not sure since I really don’t care for fake parts.

 

I like chunky.

 

To each their own, but PotP Roddy is kind of a mess, imo. The shoulders are terrible, he's got kibble hanging off of him everywhere, it does a terrible job of hiding Hot Rod's arms and hands, and it's got lots of mismatched reds due to different plastics.

This guy looks great from every angle, does a better job than MP-28 did with the backpack, and comes with a ton of sweet accessories. I personally can't wait for this guy.

 

Yup this will be a day one buy for me. Tbh it actually pisses me off that this is worlds better than any other hot rod MP. Not even fans toys looks better than this in robot mode

 

It's been a while since I've posted here, but these 86 figures caught my attention. Do we know if Prime or Megatron will be in this line? I can see where they might not touch them given the G1 nature of the WFC stuff, but Hot Rod here looks more advanced than the stuff in the main line, at least to me.

 

I prefer the chest design of the Rodimus in the second picture compared to what POTP Rodimus ended up with. Hot Rod transforming into Rodimus Prime is such a classic moment in the movie, and that blocky POTP chest design just didn't look right to me. It was also annoying that we finally got a Leader Rodimus Prime, except it had some noticeable design flaws.

And I hate stickers.

 

I'm thinking if Commander Class Rodimus Prime is a success, we may get a Commander class Optimus down the line.
