Here's one of the L modes I imagined, works *perfectly*, but does need two of the same leg attached to the body




The other, less successful :-(.

The peg on the shin is slightly too high and the straight on road from it is slightly raised up

So Airwave can serve as a straight piece and a corner in any base.

 

In hand I think this is the closest, but for a rather odd reason:

See the Blast Effect points sticking out upwards from the top of the body?



There are holes for them to recess into on the road pieces if the chest piece is attached as @BombSquad has it.

Said holes aren't used in any of Airwave's modes.

The 5mm peg holes on the top of body also use holes in the road unused in other modes.

After that it's where do the arms go - I've got them in the same position as the carrier mode - and how do you form the gun.

Gun: flip the chest peg up, put the control tower bit in upside down with it's side peg facing forward and mount the combined gun parts on that facing forward

 

The advantage of this configuration is you can use the chest peg to raise the barrel.



A close up on the unused holes which perfectly fit the blast effect attachments points sticking up from the body:



And the layout underneath - the rear treads are the only real change.

 

Pic request: I'd love to see Airwave and Greasepit together. I've been wondering if you can connect the two connectors on Airwave's ramps to the two connectors at the front of Greasepit's garage mode to make an expanded forecourt...

 

You could do it.... but the connectors on Greasepit are too far apart for the roads on Airwaves to connect to and be connected to Airwave. If you attached the Airwave roads directly to Greasepit there's be a gap down the middle. Nice Dual Carriageway mind....

*REALLY* wishing I'd brought at least one of my Ironworks/Greasepits with me to Mum's in London, where I'm staying while the builders finish the wheelchair adaptations at home in Swindon. But there again I didn't expect to be able to get Smyths to deliver me Airwaves.

There are 5mm pegs sticking up from Airwave's shoulders. If you fold his head down another toy could stand on him using the 5mm hole in their feet.

I wonder how man Airwaves I can stack up standing on each other?

Airwave weaponised with Airwave

 

Ok, I’m a fan of this guy. His bot mode is SWEET......but....The other modes.....leave a lot to be desired.

had a little time to sit and fidget with him tonight.

 

Reinforcements arrived yesterday so....

An attempt at FIVE went badly, it wouldn't balance right.

With more than four Airwaves I can now make a full square using the L configurations:



A cube may be possible too...... But I'm going to need a few more Airwaves for that.

Got mine in the mail on Friday after mysteriously appearing on Amazon for five minutes.

Charming robot mode and some nice micromaster base modes. But as a weaponizer, he makes Iron Works look like Six Gun.

 

Pretty fun figure this one. Difficult to work out where to get things to go for weaponiser mode without instructions but this is what I got

 

Managed to find my Siege Overair (from the multipack, Airwave was rebranded an Autobot in Japan and they went with that identity for the box set since he shared casting and sword mode with an Autobot.)
