No idea if this is the correct version of the f4 but I’m going ahead with it anyway!

This is my first attempt at doing a fully transformable mod. So far I’m really liking how the nose of the plane is looking, it’s just how the back will look. The wings will be easy to do; but figuring out how to make it look 100% accurate is going to be a struggle. If I get to the point where it will resemble the F4 I might just leave it at that!

only 2 pictures at the minute! If you’ve got any ideas throw them my way!

    That new cockpit looks cool!

I wonder why hasbro didn't even attempt at making a pseudo-F4, like what they did with Shatter and her jet mode.

Tell me about it! Atleast she resembles a Harrier T8. Rather have crappy looking boxes and ‘Studio Series’ accurate vehicle modes. Thanks for the comment!

Their official reason was that they wanted to focus on a more screen accurate robot mode. In my opinion, it was a worthy trade off

The official reasoning we got from a Hasbro employee on one of these threads was that the alternate mode was sacrificed for the robot mode and the "engineering" of the transformation. IMO, the engineering could have easily been worked into an F-4 if they followed some of the movement of the transformation in the movie itself... ((Heck, I even brainstormed a method when I got my hands on this toy))

Love what you're doing so far, that cockpit looks slick! Are you using a Testors F-4 model or some other kind?

I don’t have the tools hasbro have but Ive come up with multiple ways they could’ve succeeded with his F4 mode, like you said.
The plane he currently transforms into is a very slick plane, the only think that looks ugly is his feet sticking out from the side. I wasn’t bothered about shatter having a custom harrier look, it pulled it off more than whatever Blitzwing plane is suppose to be.

I’m using a combination of Airfix and Revell models. Just incase I mess up there’s a back up! Thanks for your comment

The problem with the 60s jet is the wings are low to the ground (probably for structural reasons). Later jets all have the wings higher to store more missiles.
But this figure needs the high wings to cover all the extra robot parts. It might be easier to use a different jet model instead.

But he then wouldn’t be true to his silver screen appearance and this whole project is out the window. I’ve got a plan for the wings

This figure is a mess from the name all the way to the alt mode. Not a fan of the movie 'bots, but I am a fan of custom craft. I wish you luck.

Pretty much how the original goes. The only issue I have is when the fake chest folds down it’s hindered by the added side panels, but I can just cut away the plastic inside and it’ll fold down and sit in snug.

I think the wings would be cool to put on a balljointed armature of some sort that would allow them to be lower in plane mode and more articulated in bot mode.
