Oh man I ADORE that truck mode. Glad we're getting to the hyper-G1 stuff I'm more interested in: giving Floro Dery's original designs a proper fair shake. Guy might be a bit ornery but I've always been fascinated by his unique design language, you can really see that coming through with the way the truck is shaped vs TR Kup. Robot mode looks pretty great too. (I'm gonna be repainting him in Marvel colors anyway so I'm not too bothered by the paint choices)

Because we're blowing up a tiny face, size-wise, onto our phone and computer screens, magnifying it to an unrealistic size.

I was actually typing a similar sentiment when I saw your post.  

The funny thing about the face debate is that this figure is going to be, what, 5 inches tall?

And the face itself is probably going to be about 0.25".

It's kind of like how a pimple looks like an asteroid if you blow it up on your computer screen.

With my deluxe-sized figs, I can't even see their faces clearly from a distance.

 

To me(and this isn’t a dealbreaker to me), the eyes look like they should be angled differently for a fierce, rather than sad, look. The saying “why the long face?” applies here.

 

After Hasbro's absolutely atrocious handling of that so-called Pulse Con sneak peek this morning, I no longer care that figures are leaking ahead of their official announcements. If you're going to do us like that Hasbro, then we'll take our leaks whenever or wherever we can get them. Power on Ton Ton.

I've been seeing a lot of that on my hikes lately, unfortunately. People need to stop drinking so much water before going out for their exercise.

 

Oh no...it’s happening....CHUG collectors sounding like the MP crowd. I get the jokes, but I think he looks good. My Legends Kup can continue to be targetmaster Kup while this will be my main.

 

Not sure if I'll get this guy since I have the Generations figure with the Igear head. Looks good though, but not nearly as good as Hot Rod.

 

This is absolutely it right here. A lot of designs aren’t designed with toys in mind. That’s why it’s such a treat to get stuff like Animated where they work damn hard to pull off a good toy and a good design in one go. Or Studio Series where ten years later (in this case 30) modern engineering and past efforts teach us to build even better.

I still wish these slots for Studio Series were being used for Bay-only characters but seeing this I can definitely see why people are so excited even if it’s not for me. They look wonderful. I wish we could get this level of engineering for MTMTE Cyclonus, or Generations style Animated figures (since we’ll likely never get true Animated toys again).

Yes. Screw "screen accuracy" to something that wasn't accurate to itself from one scene to the next. Give me a good toy that doesn't cheat!
