So I'll agree it's not the best head but I will say it's the best so far and it's not a million miles away from the original design.

All in all the SS86 line is looking great!

 

I think Gen Kup > SS86 Kup > Legends Kup >>> TR Kup for me. Not as good as Hot Rod but still an easy replacement for the TR mold.

 

The Titans Return figure never looked like Kup to me. All I need is some 3p company to give an upgrade with a cigar smoking face and I'll put him on my IDW shelf.

 

Hmmm. Not bad. Dunno if it'll replace my legends one.

Can't tell if this is mistransformed or not. Other than that, this is not the complete improvement from the Legends figure that I was expecting, there are actually things that the LG toy does better like the proportions, kibble and headsculpt.

 

I was pretty impressed with Hot Rod and Scourge, but Kup looks like garbage (despite nailing the alt mode the best since the G1 toy)

• The face is bad, just... bad.
• Platform the head is sitting on is weird and the fact it's black makes it REALLY stand out.
• The shoulders sit to low on the torso and look weird. it's like they're coming out from where his armpits should be, or even the top of his ribcage.
• The torso is too scrawny
• Chest is too flat and square
• The sculpted tech details under the windscreen are overdone and weird and kinda ruin the otherwise pretty perfect alt mode. Adds way to much visual distraction to the 'bot mode.
• Arms seem too long and reedy.
• Hands are too large proportionally to the arms.
• The colors seem really off.

I could get past a lot of those niggles if it wasn't for the shoulder position, but man that just look absolutely terrible!
The Legends molds face isn't pefect either, but I'll stick with that for now.

Well, I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. Not even close.

Vehicle mode looks fantastic! Transformation looks great! Robot mode looks meh!

I'm in the camp that the TR mold is visually more appealing. (More specifically the Legends version, but TR works, too.)

If y'all love this one, great! I hope he makes you happy and is a great figure, but for me... I'll buy him to say I have him, but I think I'll be keeping TR as my Kup.

His is a stolen factory reject. The legit ones should be much better.

 

I can't say how to Transform it because I don't have the instructions no one does which don't come with stolen samples so how do you know tonton knows what he is doing.

I don't know what is mistransformed it just looks off more than the shoulder

 

Generations Kup is one of my "forever" figures. I love and will never get rid of it. It too will probably always remain my definitive kup. It's accumulated a few paint scratches over the years, but he man, it's Kup! It works for him.

This new figure looks like a good effort, and I appreciate a lot of what it does. But I think he's a bit too thin and spindly. plus I don't like the face sculpt. I would prefer either an angry stare or a grandfatherly smile, (like when he tells the dinobots stories.) The face they gave him is frowny and makes it look like Kup is in chronic pain. Combined with the proportions, this looks like a Kup who's 83 and a couple of months into cancer treatment.

I also think there's missed opportunity not putting this in the wfc line. I would have loved a Kup that was more battlemaster compatible, that way they could release recoil separately and you could have a proper targetmaster version of him. I suppose they could still do that and Recoil would have "basic" compatibility of fitting in his hand, but I would have preferred if he could mount in the truck bed.

 

I've yet to see a Kup that surpasses Generations Sergeant Kup.

Nope disagree. Yes it's got some serious personality that I was not expecting, but it's still way better than the TR version

It's his Energon nicotine gum, he's trying to get off the cygars after he was diagnosed with spark cancer...

 

I wonder if my old classics Igear head will fit on this guy. Love the cig-ar chomping one

 

I think his face might be too big in comparison to his helmet, and the lack of paint on his eyes are the biggest culprits to him looking off to me. All in all I might be starting to flop back to getting him again.

He's just a touch skinny, but this is easily the best Hasbro Kup we've gotten to date. It looks considerably more G1 in both modes than the earlier HasTak version.

Hasbro is killing it with the mainline. Between this and Earthrise, I'm seriously rethinking keeping my MP collection.
