D&D is like printing money. When you can get enough people to pay $50 for a book that costs less than $5 to get it in the hands of retailers for you to buy, it's a no-brainer. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were a power-house juggernauts in the fantasy genre just a couple decades ago...but very little is coming out of that now, leaving a nice sized vacuum.

For the next transformers film I want these guys. They make people intentionally laugh and not making you laugh at the bad stuff. Hell I would be happy if they were picked for bee movie 2.

I am so glad they're going this route. Transformers does need to take a backseat, i am excited for D&D, and for a budget similar to Bumblebee for future transformers movies, because the bayverse films..wooo..they were alot.

Completely agree about the budget. A lot of modern mega-blockbusters have conditioned us to think that movies need massive $200 million+ budgets to be exciting. I really feel like we could use more smaller budget movies. IMO an inexpensive stunt like Raiders dragging Indy behind a truck is far more exciting than a digital city blowing up. Obviously a Transformers movie will need a bigger budget than Raiders for the robots and all...but what I'm saying is that a resourceful filmmaker can make the most of a smaller budget. Plus, I feel like a smaller budget forces them to put more focus on the story, because they can't just use excessive visual effects to distract the audience from a mediocre plot.

Mhm, like get a small but good enough budget, a great director and writer. and pick up where bee left off. I know people will be upset that no big budget means no bayverse, but? they've had five movies. it's okay guys lol

I’m a huge fan of D&D (been playing since the 80’s and even play with my kids now) so this is great... except D&D hasn’t had much luck with movies. If they made them using recognizable monsters and classes and races, I could go for it. Too bad they’d use Forgotten Realms, I’d love to see Greyhawk or Mystara or.... Spelljammer!

I talked with my dad and here are the movies I'd want to see:
    Generic D&D High Fantasy Movie
Horror-themed well, Tomb of Horrors movie. Many adventurers go in, few survive
R-Rated raunchy comedy of that one party defined by seduction roles
R-Rated movie of characters that are evil-aligned and having the "Good" characters be the antagonists

Short of hiring Terry Gilliam to make them a Planescape movie... I can't see how it can end in anything even remotely better than the first D&D movie. Merely reaching the level of the Warcraft movie is going to be a success.

If they want to bring D&D to live-action in a way that people would care about, get the people who made this amazing Brazilian car commercial based on the 1980s D&D cartoon and have them do a feature film.

This commercial does everything right that Hasbro's past movie adaptations have done wrong. All the characters are in it and they all look exactly like they did in the cartoon in terms of actor likenesses and costumes. The basic premise and storyline of the cartoon is the same basis of the commercial. There is zero reason to make changes when adapting a classic cartoon or comic property into live-action. Keeping it the same will please all the fans of the original. And the original concept and style is what made it a hit in the beginning. The exact same formula will work just the same as it did back then on a new audience who never heard of the original.

I think PG-13 high adventure with a dash of horror is the way to go.

Lucas and Spielberg perfected the formula long ago...just use it wisely and with some creative flair.

Basically, take the 1999 The Mummy film (which is totally a great, fun rip off of Indiana Jones) and adapt it to a DnD setting where the villain isn't a mummy but is a dragon. Done.

Problem is that while I love Bumblebee, sequels are meant to either be bigger than the last film or work with it. Travis was great with giving the mainstay cast great amounts of screentime what what he had to work with given his background. If you read his interviews before he really stressed that the budget and direction meant he couldn't do much of anything ie wanting an extended Cybertron scene, more moments with Shatter and Dropkick, and freaking Megatron wrecking stuff. The easy solution is to bring him back and give him more money to work with, or have him call up his dad who owns Nike to give him a "small loan" of a million dollars like he's done before when his early films didn't make money back.

Needs more Jeremy Irons hamming it up, otherwise what's the point.

I'd rather watch that 50 times than watch 1 minute of the live action D&D movie.

Didn't this episode ruin the image of Warcraft?

I still want an R-Rated comedy that's based around the party Bard for a D&D movie because they cannot ignore that.

I wanna see Hasbro give their other brands a chance to shine and grow as well, like Rom, Visionaries, Action Man, etc.
